  1. Thanks. I showed this to some Super Stock racers over the weekend and they were impressed. You know you did a good job when you please the 1:1 guys Dale
  2. Chassis stuff.. Thanks for looking. Dale
  3. Without the front clip. And more...
  4. These are the final pics of my 2010 Pro Stock Mustang build. The wip thread is in the link below if you are interested: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=76723&hl= More to follow.
  5. All finished at last. I have posted all the final photos over in Under Glass. Thanks to all of you for putting up with all of this. (Just kidding) Your support was much appreciated. See you all soon. Dale
  6. I would drill it out with a Dremel and fill it from behind with epoxy putty, but that's just me. I don't recommend you follow any of my recommendations. Except that one. I'll let you figure out which one I mean... Dale
  7. Some interesting pairings from Comp Eliminator at the Lucas Oil Division 6 race Friday, August 16, 2013. A pair of Altered class cars. The H/A 92 Camaro is Jim Warter. The VW powered G/Dragster of Brian Hyerstay and The F/Super Modified Automatic Cobalt of Justin Lamb. Super Modified Automatics of Jeff Lane, North Bend Washington and Doug Lambeck of Northridge California. Dale Giroux of Alberta Canada backs his B/Altered Automatic Cavalier (500 cid big block) up against Scott Parks, Burlingame, Kansas Nostalgia Dragster. I'll post more during the week. There was a Division 6 race Thurs (rain)-Fri and a Regional race including cars from Division 7 Sat-Sun Dale
  8. Denatured alcohol from the paint department of a hardware store will remove lacquer, which is probably what your primer was. Don't get the stuff from the drug store and handle it with care. Dale
  9. If you have any questions on the Mac OS, hit me a PM. I'm a long time Mac user. Dale
  10. ^^^ Thanks for using images with permission and properly crediting the photographers who created them. There are so many people on the Net who don't do this that I tend to lecture about copyright quite a bit. It's fairly easy to post a Flickr image without the link back. I don't know if it's OK with them or not, but since it's my image I say I can. I edited my previous post to remove the link and Flickr credit. BTW: All my MCM build mages are hosted on ImageShack. Dale
  11. The Flickr "kickback" or "ad" that you refer to is what the folks who frequent my photo forums call copyright protection. It lets the people who see these photos know that they are owned by me and that I can be contacted through my Flickr account by clicking the image. Flickr isn't selling anything by doing this, just protecting my ownership of the image. Deadlinking is theft of a copyrighted image. If you maintain a page consisting of 32,000 images taken without permission I suggest you take it down. Dale
  12. I developed a photo posting tutorial for the Digital Photography forum over at MacRumors.com a couple of years ago and that was true. Since the site (Flickr) was revamped, I have not been able to find that reference in the TOS and photo sharing has been made much easier. This is just a copy/paste off their Grab the Link box without using the Image Link icon in the reply box. The extra back link code is already there. I picked the medium size here.
  13. ^^^ At one of the televised National events a crew guy was walking the line with a fanny pack/diaper bag kinda thing with wires hanging out of it. All the announcers could get from him was that it helped start the car. A TF rig, I think. Makes sense to power up the oil and fuel systems before cranking one of these things. AZ Boy: We know we've digressed. If you go back to about post three, you can buy the car (or one like it) in the OP off Racing Junk.com. $25,000. Dale
  14. Love people, use machines. And never mix them up. Dale
  15. ^^^ Once the car is fired, it runs off the magnetos, which provide up to 44 amps each. There are two means of shutting the car down, one manual and the other automated. These quotes are from the Top Fuel section of the revised 2013 rule book but would apply to FC as well. The auto shutdown is triggered by any engine malfunction such as a supercharger pop and kills the engine and deploys the parachutes. Courtney Force popped a blower 60 feet out and both of her chutes fell to the track. It looked like the car puked. Given that Team Force can absorb the $$$$ it took to fix, it was funny. IGNITION SWITCH “Each car in competition must have a positive on/off switch, capable of de-energizing the entire ignition system, in good working order, located within easy reach of the driver.” SHUTOFF DEVICE “Properly installed and operational Electrimotion Top Fuel Safety Shutoff Controller Kit (part number SB001TF or SB002TF) and Electrimotion Shutoff Receiver (part number RF001) mandatory. The Electrimotion Top Fuel Safety Shutoff Controller Kit must be installed per the manufacturer’s instructions. Modification of or tampering with the Electrimotion Top Fuel Safety Shutoff Controller Section 18, page 25 Top Fuel Dragster Kit prohibited. The activation of the system override switch by any means other than parachute deployment is prohibited.” Dale
  16. David: This proves my theory that weathering is being given too much weight in some contests. Your build shows way more skill and attention to detail than the winner. Disclaimer: No Offense ment to the Good Doctor... Dale
  17. I lived 50 miles South of Detroit in the 60s and hung out at Detroit Dragway. This guy is %100 Wayne County Real. Buy that car! Dale
  18. Will not post reply Will not post reply Will not post... Dale
  19. There seems to be more resistance to that than some other forums on the Net. dale
  20. ^^^ Yes. I hate those polarizing threads where everyone gets all juiced up and wired. Dale
  21. Sure got me all amped up!! Dale
  22. Racers and race fans are a chatty bunch. Give us a battery and we just take charge... Dale
  23. Not according to the revised 2013 NHRA Rule book Funny car section: "ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS Electrical and electronic components are restricted to ignition systems, data recorders, electrical gauges or indicators, automated fire extinguisher, fuel system, clutch control, and engine-shutoff system components only. The use of electrical/electronic timers to control pneumatic fuel-system valves, and/or electric fuel control solenoid valves, and/or clutch control valves is permitted. Functions of fuel timers, clutch timers, and ignition system must be initiated by wide-open throttle switch only." Tim: Some of the Altereds and dragsters I saw at the Nostalgia Drags a while ago had internal starters with plug-me-in batteries like you mentioned. Dale
  24. My other bad habit is digital photography and I have a flickr Pro account that I like a lot. I keep all my model photos on ImageShack and my "grown up" photos on Flickr. The layout is nice if you have photos to share other than build stuff. Dale
  25. I have a Graphic Design background, and the blue of your menu bar strip is too dark. There is not enough contrast between it and the black lettering on the drop down for it to be easily read. Very nice products, I might add.. Dale
