I don't know GRT from ABC but that is one awsome chassis. How long did that take? I have a hard time doing a regular chassis. 8)

Well Art how old might that be? Or how young might that be? :? -
The flames are really hot. I know that was bad but I had to. It is hard to put flames where they really look right but you did it.

Thanks guys. Back in the 60's I had a Corvair Monza with a bunch of Fitch racing parts on it. It was white with red interior. Used to watch Jonh Fitch race at VIR back in the late 50's and early 60's. Kind of miss the days. 8)

Billy K. If you do the John Fitch could you put it on the site for us? Would love to see some pictures. Hint Hint

VW Dave, Thank you for the tour. The pictures make me feel like I was really there.

Someone should answer you. I built one back in the 60's. It came out ok(don't have it or a camera). Never built a Revell again for 20 some years due to the mental block that kit gave me. I'm 60 now and the pain is long gone. I say go for it.

Well KT, I'm as old as the red rocks you come to see out at the "garden" 8) -
Really COOL. I have a couple sitting around waiting for ideas. Thank you. What chassis did you use?

Hey Bigtruck, It is time to get the good stuff out of storage and go RACIN', if the track is still there.
-
Don't have one of those digital cameras but would like to see some of the other tracks out there(hint, hint slotbaker). Favorite driver is Marcus Ambrose by the way.
-
Nice cars Slotbaker. Back in 1968 we had beveled gears here. Do you have any V8 Supercar bodies to make slotcars out of?
-
Went back to the track and found out that they have open wheel races on friday night, stock car races on saturday afternoon, and trying to have truck racing on sundays. Also heard they are trying to get sportscar races going. That is my cup of tea. 1/24th is what I used to run but this new generation 1/32nd cars are really detailed.

Those orange tires are the ones we were using in 1970 the last time I ran. We had them in varios colors(even black) You would soak them over night in different liquids to give them better grip. Your car is a thing of beauty. The only thing it needs from whwt I see is a set of anglewinder gears. You would be amazed at how much smooter it would make it run and go. Ah for the old days.

Last weekend I was driving down the street here in the Springs where I live and there was this large yellow sign with a larger arrow on it that said"slot car track. The last time I was in a track was 1971. Had to check it out. Oh baby! It was a four lane 32nd scale track, but was it nice and big. All the old tracks back in the 60s had some pretty cool banks on them, but this one was flat. The really nice cars were 40 some dollars. The motors we used to build cost more than that. I sat there and watched and talked for awhile. Got my heart pumping like it has not for a long time. Ithink it is time to see if my trigger fingure still works. Vroom, Vroom.. there it goes now. any body elses town have a track in it?

I'm an old rattlecan fan,but after looking at the pictures over and over, I think someday I might have to try a spraygun. Even my wife says I should get one. You can't beat that. I said earlier that your car is cool. I should have just said one word. WOW! -

It really looks good. Did you clearcoat over the decals? If you did, what brand of paint? -
Which interstate was that? Thanks guys. I think now I put up my 50 year old silver paint brushes and try some foil. Will try some on an old body first as you suggest though. Who says an old dog can't learn new tricks? Whoops, I think I just left the door wide open. 8)

I have never used chrome foil on any of my cars. I bought some but am almost afraid to try it for fear of messing up a paint job. If it goes on wrong can it be taken off and replaced with another piece, or am I just out of luck? Would really like to try it. Thanks for any help you can give. 8)

Those are so good looking it makes me want to go back to the 60s when we lived at the slot car track. I can smell the compounds we put on our tires too. Those really were the good old days. Thank you for showing your cars. 8)
