  1. Only a couple things left to do to call the GTO finished. Waiting for the Molotow chrome to cure on the side mirrors and need to print out my license plates. In the meantime, I attached the vent windows and mounted the fire extinguisher. This is the "pre-completion" look.
  2. So, in looking at pictures of racing Ferrari 308s, I knew that the stock looking interior wasn't going to cut it. I had to clean up (smooth out) the center console and the floor. The stock door panels had to go too. I thought of cutting, filing and sanding them down smooth but decided it would be easier to make new panels. The thought of what kind of handle to use and how to close the door with a pull of some sort made me look even more into the different designs of interiors. One that I really like is a cut out door panel leaving access to the inside of the door. I would imagine that the driver just grabs the door panel to close the door also. So that's what I decided to do. After cutting out the door panels I cut out the center of them for the look I wanted. In doing that I also had to cut out the area on the tub where the door panels attached to create the hole looking into the inside of the door skin. Next I need to work on some kind of roll bar that works with the kit supplied hoop and then try to find a racing seat. Not sure if I want to go with 2 seats or just one.
  3. Here's my earliest glue kit. Not sure how old I was but it was in the mid 70s when it was built. It's even complete with 40 years worth of dust! It's an old Monogram kit. I'm sure it was the reissue done in 75. I bought another one from ebay about 7 years ago to build up now and display them together. It was actually the 1961 issue of the kit. Maybe I'll get this one out after my current build is done.
  4. Since the "My Science Project" GTO is basically done (mirrors and license plates yet), I figured it's time for the next one to try to keep the ball rolling. A simpler kit this time so that maybe I won't get stalled out by putting too many details into it (although I do have plans for some enhancements). Haven't completely decided on a color yet but I'm thinking of a 2 tone red upper, black lower with black fender flares. Very similar to the box top but just with red instead of yellow. (I know, another red Ferrari) I did already use aluminum tubing to make the exhaust tips so they have some dimension and depth. I have some shaping on the body to do. The rear bumper is too thick on one side. I just know that I'm going to want to simplify the interior to resemble more of a race car and I'm not sure if I'm going to be happy with just the single roll bar hoop in the kit. So, I'm not sure how much I'm going to be able to reign myself in to not going overboard.
  5. It's on YouTube. You can watch the complete movie.
  6. That was his buddy Vinny's car. A Buick Riviera.
  7. I've had this one in mind for quite a while and had the kit setting on the shelf. Decided it was time to complete a model for a change. Technically this is still a WIP. Only have the vent windows and the mirrors to put on after they cure (Molotow chrome). I had to make a fire extinguisher for it because the movie car had one mounted on the driver's side "A" pillar. I hope you all like it.
  8. I didn't like the way they had the dual quad setup done. After looking at reference photos I noticed that the carbs were oriented the wrong way. The bowls should be front to back, not side to side. Had to modify them a bit to fit that way. It still looked pretty sparse so I did a fuel rail and made the vacuum canisters for each of the carbs. Made up some linkage and a return spring. Put a piece of wire for the air cleaner studs and made "wing nuts" to top off the air cleaners. Overall this kit is a nice kit. Kind of fiddly. I did one when I was a kid (I still have it) and thought I'd like to do another one. It's about 85% done. Stalled on it again because of the extra details I've been doing to it. Maybe I need to post it on here to re-inspire me to get back to it. Keep up the good work!
  9. I love the wheels to this model. After a black wash they really pop. I do wish they would have made it as the actual Daytona instead of the kit car that was used in the TV show. I look forward to seeing how it turns out.
