1969 Olds 4-4-2 W30. First finished kit for 3 years...
Young iron replied to Young iron's topic in Model Cars
Thank you for all these comments ! It's truly a pleasure to be part of this community, and get its congrats. I actually first put the rear stripes on it. But since I found no pictures such as on the Web, I did some research. And found that they were incorrect. Thanks Dennis that you confirmed. BTW, yes, Mangodart is one of my best friends. And his models are always outstanding. -
If it's always a satisfaction to finish a kit, imagine how it is after a three years break. This is very simple. A good old Amt/Mpc kit. No vinyl top, no funky interior. Just minimal engine wiring and details, Keith Mark decals, and different wheels : 1967 Coronet R/T Magnum 500 wheels on Firestone Wide Ovals with painted redlines. I realized after paint that it was more or less a clone of the 1:18 Die Cast ERTL 1969 Olds. But it seems that this Topaz metallic over black combo was common on 1969 advertisings. A few defaults are still here and there. The body has damaged A-pillars, but I didn't want to throw it away. They're repaired but not perfect. The BMF job is not my best one ever, but engraving is a bit to flat, and Hey, I just go back to the Hobby ! 1969 Olds 4-4-2 400ci motor, with W30 option : Twin-snorkel ram induction, red inner fenderwells and splash shields. Will soon move the upper hose toward right. Pics always show the unexpected defaults. European brand Motip red primer (that's a GM !!!), paint and clear. No polishing or so, just 1200-grit sanding between layers (3 of each) and use of spray-can-to-gun adapter. Plastic bumper 1:1 paint and BMF inside. Seats are less shiny in person, but I should have grained the surface with a final ultra-thin coat. Family... Thx Next !!!

Revell 1972 convertible -
As a huge fans of american cars, I do build Amts and Revells with great pleasure. Fortunately, they re-release their kits quite often but... ...as a Mercedes-Benz fan, I wish Tamiya, Fujimi and Aoshima re-popped their old 300CEs, 600SECs, Lorinsers, Kameis and AMGs. But it seems they never use old mods again. Is it true ?

Didn't see many wish-lists there. Are they allowed ? This one is about original subjects, outsiders that would be cool to be released : -1980-1991 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham Stretch Limousine -1971 Buick Riviera -1977 Lincoln Mk V -1978 GMC Motorhome (yep, that bulky Toronado-powered bubble) -1973 AMC Javelin -1968 Caddy Eldorado coupe -1976 Caddy Eldorado convertible -1966 Plymouth Barracuda -Mercedes W123 sedan -Mercedes W126 sedan/coupe -1978 Dodge Omni -1977 Pontiac Can-Am -VW Thing -1974 Dodge Monaco Bluesmobile -1979 Pontiac Trans-Am -1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Expect some within 10 years ?

Just love it !!!

I will buy one. And throw the rims away ! Won't care about these 13-inch Rallies, and will look for some 1967 Deluxe Wheel Covers, simulated Mag Wheel Covers, or just era-correct custom wheels. I also hope the resin guys will offer what we need to build 327s and 250 Grocery-getters...

Revell 4th Quarter new kit announcements
Young iron replied to Brett Barrow's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
More than the doors and quarter panel windows, I noticed the wrong wheels on the Torino. Fortunately, this is way easier to fix up -
That would be a FANTASTIC idea for all these old1:32 kits...

Thanx guys. Mangodart (Emmanuel) is actually one of my closest friends. We first met on another famous forum, then became friends in real life. Earlier this morning we drove 400 kilometers together in my 1987 Mercedes 300SE to see a 1976 Buick Skylark for purchase. The buick was gone too far for us. Nice is, hey, a very nice place. Except for modeling ! Back in the 80's you could find model kits at every book shop (they sold toys as well). Some of these remained unsold till the late 1990's, but today's classics were yesterday's junk. Same as cars. Today, to buy kits or accessories at a decent price, we have to order on the web. Including international shipping and local taxes.

Here's a build-up maybe some of you already know. Finished a few years now in actual T-7 Saddle bronze metallic. Here in France, it's a pain you know where to get OEM spray cans. They're considered hazardous material, and can't be bought at a decent price. But, we are lucky enough to go to Norauto. Norauto is a popular car service and accessories chain, where you can find good spray cans, and some EOM references are available, such as T-7 metallic. Build-up features Recall wheels, wired Hemi, corrected door panels and 1967 amt Impala tires. I wanted to make her look likle a luxurious coupe ordered by a Dr Jeckyll and Mr Hide young guy, Doctor the day, but wild racer at night, thus the American Super Sleeper nickname... Pictures are a few years old. Telephone can takes better ones now. Since the models changed very little, feel free to ask for more pics. : ) Family picture with a 1968 Roasdunner and a 1969 Charger Ooops, RR's hood stayed open. ; )

Thanks to all ! Just sprayed the second clearcoat yesterday on my Olds. Everything's good so far

Hi After a few times looking at your beautiful work, I choose to be part of this fantastic forum. My name is Ben, age 36, living on the french Riviera. I've been modeling for about 20 years, but have less and less time for it now. Real life, real job, real CARS eat lots of time. But I don't give up, I'm just (even) slower I will post a few pics of finished build-ups. Maybe not as awesome as yours, but it's a pleasure to be among you, Guys. ; ) My current project is a 1969 Olds 4-4-2. Nothing special about this one. I hope I'll soon post the finished model (posting WIPs means less time for modeling haha). Thanks
