  1. Looking good buddy........those stands will more than pay for themselves before you are done. Rick
  2. Yes, I thought the same as well........have noticed the prices climbing.......I hate I missed out on the set of 7, I almost went 200.00 but just stopped after I saw that the 2 who were in a bidding war did not seem to stop. Itala came in the mail today........nice kit f/parts.
  3. Got the graphics I ordered from CA......correct size and style for this period/time frame. Now waiting for the stone guard from Germany.
  4. Both statements are true and a play of words.....however, epoxy cooks off, a chemical reaction resulting from mixing the two components together...........this reactions results in the hardener doing just what it says........harden. If you ever use any K&B you will also see what is meant by cook off, as the material literally heats up, hot too the touch. Or as Mr. Pea Body says........science @ work.
  5. Looking forward to seeing you building that one. The multi Hundson kits on eBay got away from me, I just did not want to bid any further, they went f/$180.00 , but whoever got them I believe got 7 pristene Hudson kits. Am now watching the 2 combo Old 16 kits, are you wanting to buy them, I see someone else is watching them as well.
  6. Would not mind to have one either, I believe this is another of those kits you buy in a subscription. Thanks for sharing this neat kit. Rick
  7. Monday, back to work........blah, blah, blah..........but whats this, today was a good day as Mondays go. Short workday, another Hudson Miniature to add to the collection.......a Mercer........happy, happy, joy, joy. And then if that was not good enough, a small packet from my friend in FLA...........2.0mm Brass Squarehead bolts....you know, not the type we use now, but the kind as used way back in tha day. Now work can progress on the frame. Rick
  8. Honored to see you watching this humble work.
  9. See there, no need for a trip to the nut ward after all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad it worked out for you friend. Rick PS:Now, show us a photo.................?
  10. By the way, Frank when you posted this build/thread did you have any idea it would have this many postings............
  11. Yes sir, but hey, we can model our own.....and there for sure are a plethora of Old 16's on ebay.........not only is there one in the set I am vying for, but today, someone posted a double set of them f/a reasonable price........remember, I paid $100.00 f/my 1st copy? Frank if anyone can, you can buddy...........so come on, do your thing. By the way, I went thru and checked out your threads, after seeing what you can do, which looks to me whatever you put your mind too, show us how to build that puppy. Rick PS: Itala is on its way.
  12. Finished truing the frame, some putty work and of course the rivets. Now, when building according to the way the designers intended, you need to paint the frame, have the engine completed and the radiator finished, then you join the frame w/all these components in place...........nah, thats not how I will do this little operation. As I stated, I want to build this as it looked when it won the race, check out the photo of the completed racer......notice what is red, what is not. There are a few areas that need correcting on this one as well and some of them I will carry out, simple fixs really. But this is what I am shooting for. So the frame can be joined w/o all the components as mentioned in place, except for the radiator and the petrol tank (Cato)..........
  13. Well lets not get too crazy.......when I need something like a tube, I 1st look around the house and sure enough once in a blue moon I will find some item that suits the bill. Or go to local HS, that is if one is still in your neck of the woods, the closest one to me is a hour drive away.......find the size you need in Evergreen shapes, get a pan of water to boiling and dip that sucker in for a few seconds, pull out and gently bend to the shape/curve you need, then cut the tube to fit........now that was not too bad was it. You may to dip more than once. One time I needed a filler tube f/a F1 car, used a plstic tube that pencil lead came in, cut it at 2 angles and turned out better than the one that was lost to the kit. So see, we all let them escape sometime. Rick
  14. Oh contraire monfraire, just means I am ahead in the mistake curve. But you do have the right idea, glean from those who appear to know what they are doing............... ...........sounds good away.
  15. No, I hate no man, and sure not someone who has been as good a person as I have seen in you friend. Life is too short to have hate in your heart for any man! Yes the leather wraps are a tough option to make, but they can be done. I fully understand about not painting, they are jewels when finished, and yes, most who opt for this add on do leave them in their natural state. Modeling is one of those areas where you as the builder have the ability to do it just like ole Franky said, I did it my way. Your Friend
  16. First and foremost..........I speak LIFE, death shall not have dominion over you, LIFE, either here or in eternity.
  17. Still grinding off plastic, the frame is very, very far from being square.......this is a area that will make itself known as you add the floor-board. I also am adding a few rivets to the frame.....using Scale Hardware RIVT-22-A, 2.2mm Die Formed Alum. These are perfect for working in 1/8th scale, I have in the past had brass round head rivets, but I just like these better. They appear more scale like, a round head looks like a carrage bolt and not a rivet as used in frames from this period. There are 4 locations on a Pocher FIAT frame that the rivets were not molded on the frame, so a very easy fix. Also you will notice I have in a photo some of the hardware I use to construct.........I will use the hardware that comes w/kit, however, if I can replace the screw w/a scale nut/bolt, I will do so in a heart beat......learned this from a very good friend and a fellow Pocherphile....David Cox. If you can cut down on the screws and the little head aches that come w/them, then by all means do so. I like to use 0.90 nuts/bolts and 0.90 carrage bolts. This hardware is SS.
  18. Will we get to see the top on this one?
  19. My hat off to you sir, is a true pleasure to watch you work. Rick
  20. Out freaking standing, rearend looks just da bomb dude....(get that stuff from the grands). Oh my, leaf spring kit $$$$$$$, but well worth for the added support, and speaking of support, noticed that spiffy little item holding the rearend, I know what those are and you will be so glad you sprung for a set, especially when you need to turn everything toppsy turffy. Looking really good and prgressing all the time, I am still sanding, squaring and drilling on the FIAT frame! But I am still working @ it too. Here is a tip on the leaf springs, if you are going to paint, they are made of SS and need a bit of rough up before a coat of any paint is added, green scotch pad, hit them a lick or two, use a good auto primer and spray away, then again, you may opt for a real leather wrap.....adds tons to the look, I do not like the rubber deals that comes with the kit. Just a thought.......keep'em coming. Your friend........
  21. Here is one place I found out about the ticket box.........
  22. By the way Old pal (made a funny thar, did you catch it), just what do you have in the works @ the moment, been missing your talents as of late! Rick
  23. That could be bad........... I kinda had the same idea too! Maybe we can take turns when they show up on eBay! Rick
  24. You do know it was customary for the owner to add a little pizazz to the car by the embalm being painted red back ground w/silver RR! Just for the guy who wants to make it his own.
  25. Dah........lost that many moons ago, lets see, fishing tackle (Deep Sea type), 1911 45's severial, photo equipment, models...you name it types, and lets not forget good ole personal auto! I have to go when the dog goes out.............lol. Rick
