  1. I agree 100%, but I have also noticed a trend taking place on eBay.........a FIAT can go for as much as one of the bigger kits, so for a 1st time build, yes the FIAT is outstanding as a introduction to Pocher kits, but @ the same time, if I can buy a RR for what a FIAT cost.......... I once had a 1st production run of the FIAT and it was the only one I ever got this way, it came with the chains assembled from the factory.........they were in their own little plastic case, assembled and covered in what looked to be a thin coat of oil. The next kit came with the chain to be assembled w/a metal plate to hammer the parts on, 3rd and this current kit came with chain to assemble, but the metal plate is now plastic........ Just funny how things change! Rick
  2. Give that man a cigar........you are correct. Your FADOR, is this the 3 in one version. Rick
  3. Cool bike build of one of the badest bikes around........I say that because if you have ever rode one, you would know what I am talking about. Not this very bike, but the maker. Just received my 1/6th V850 California, now popped by Italeri, was orignally done by Protar. Kit + ship $300.00, 770 parts, plastic, metal and vinyl........complete working engine, clutch, trans, brakes, levers work what they are attached too. I have built this bike before and it is a very, very demanding project.......but when completed, the center of attention by anyone who spies it. Biggest problem is once they see the brake/clutch levers work, they want too keep fooling with them..... . Nice job and I will watch for more of your work. Rick
  4. It is these types of builds that get my attention.............this is just cool..........guys in the hood take'em now, hot rod them and race around the block. Rick
  5. Cool...........I built the BMW.........Germans pronounce it BMV...........back in the late 70's. I also remember a fella doing a 1st rate build in the now defunk Scale Modeler........miss that ole mag. Anyhow, like what you have come up with and will watch this one. Rick
  6. Frank.........check this little critter out............. Just like building a ship.........have plenty of tools for that type construction, to insure it is straight and square. Rick PS: I want to see if I can do one the old fashion way, with the material as provided! I will admit, I will change out the tires/wheels.......the ones in the kit were just to warped to be of any use, so I sourced a set that I think will work perfect with this classy lady. Whats up today w/me and warped parts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. One went this week on eBay for less than $400.00, (RR) mint, un-started in box..........was on my watch list and sold before I had a chance to check and see what it was doing, if not, that bad boy would be coming to NC.
  8. And, while I wait for my genius to kick into play.............I spent the day messing w/sum thing else................ Hint, comes in a small card board box, is from days gone by, not for the faint of heart and got a set of white vinyl tires f/it today. Rick Hint: 1900
  9. That be the one, twisted w/a turn up-ward @ front..........one could get the twist out, but the part that turns up, I believe she will break if forced????????? I wished I did have the Entex kit, Fuman is Ok, but years ago I built the Entex version and I can say, the quality was very much better. This plastic as used by Fuman has some strange properties too.........very brittle, has some type coating on it and does not like model putty! But I will not throw in the towel just yet........... I still have one trick up my sleave............... Rick
  10. Do not let what you read make you afraid of a Pocher kit, I have seen 12 year olds build them and if they can, you can. Of course I am talking back when you could buy them @ K-mart f/$35.00, does anyone here remember that. If only I had of know then what I know now! Story goes, Pocher is about to shut their doors.........a certain person gets wind of this, orders everything he can get from them (Pocher), seem he filled up a warehouse with Pocher kits. Something happened, he had to move this warehouse full of Pocher kits, he sold them to a buyer from K-mart f/pennies on the dollar.......K-Marts stocked them and sold them dirt cheap. Bought a Rolls, a Benz and a Alfa for alittle over $100.00 + tx.......... If I had a Time Machine, I would buy them out @ every K-Mart I could find, and put them babys back for a investment. Now to add to the insult of this, Pocher was still mfging kits and for along time, no Pocher kits were imported to the USA until Model Expo convinced them to let them sell the kits again........that was the last time you could order a Pocher kit from here in the US. I believe Polk's of NY also sold them during the early 80's. I keep reading this and that, Pocher kits are coming back......yadda, yadda.....albit, you can buy the new kit hawked as Pocher, but is really from a mfger in Spain that bought the rights to Pocher's name! Or so the story goes. Anyway, Pocher kits are not for everyone, that is for sure.......but, if you love modeling, classic cars and working with multi-type materials......do yourself a favor and @ least, try one......I bet you will love it. PS: Spoke wheels, are they daunting, yes, impossible, no.......and when you are done, you will set and smile from ear to ear that you beat those suckers........MMC's Builders Guide has a great tip on them as well. Rick aka Pocherphile tip: stubby screwdriver, works wonders for setting spoke nipples w/o damage, and sets the nipple DC.
  11. Have hit a little hic-up, seems that when I went to check/mock up the body parts, the rear cover is warped in 2 directions. I know how to get a warp out, but in 2 directions.......... Gonna have to give this some brain waves to come up w/a solution. I had a problem like this with the body of a Pocher Spyder that had sat on it's side too long.........in the end, I made the problem worse! Bummer..............
  12. This is way cool dude............when will the Streamliner follow? Look forward to more of this build. Rick
  13. If I were to build a Pocher RR today, the above mentioned parts would be the 1st parts I purchased, but then again, that is me. The Pocher kits @ todays cost and effort invested to build.........deem all one can do to make them as strong as one can and as correct as can be done. But again, I stress, this is just my idea and it is not my wallet taking the hit..........f/this reason, Pocher Rolls or Benz is way back on my burner @ this time because of the amount of funds required for such a project.......I have not even hit upon a display case! Rick
  14. Don't know if they are golden......but I do hope they help. There are certain things from Model Motorcars that to build a Rolls to last and pass on are very much necessary..........the set of SS Leaf Springs, I would not even think twice about pruchasing a set of these. I am in noway telling you what to spend your hard earned on, but believe me, I understand the price is in the clouds, but the results and what they do for the stability of the model is worth it. I have seen many of these kits (Rolls) after built, over time sag @ the leaf springs that come in the kit. Bronze front axel..........another piece that replaces a weak part of the kit. Now as for the rest, thats up in the air and how much your wallet can take. I would not go for the wheel sets, but I would spring for the new type tires they are making..........but they are not really needed other than ease of getting onto the rims and I have seen them split (kit tires) as you try to install them. And if you have not already done so, one of the best ref books on a Pocher RR, buy the MMC's Build Manual f/a RR........much info in this little booklet for the price. Rick
  15. Just a thought, don't over do the added weight........the Roll's is already a big heavy car when completed, too much weight is not good for the suspension.....of course I noticed you already said you have ordered from MMC.com and I am sure you sprung for the cast front axle. You will be surprised @ what this puppy will weigh when done. I have and still do add support for my large Pocher kits to set on to take the stress of off the frame, wheels and suspension. Over time w/o this, you will see the car start to settle in a un-natural stance! Like what you are doing and the added effort will pay off in the end, just take your time and enjoy the complexty of the build. Pochers are not for everyone, but if mastered, I do not believe there is another kit to match'em........ Rick
  16. Its what I am trying to achieve in my own builds, the best compliment one can give is to emulate another's work. Thats build like, not copy! Not too change the subject, but Frank are you working on anything @ the moment? Rick
  17. Seller contacted and admitted that kit was not supposed to have got out, mis-takes do happen.........offered to refund 1/2 of the purchase amount, offered to buy the last two kits he had listed if 100% complete for the 1/2 price refund + balance. I wonder what happened to the one that was apart of the lot!
  18. Yes sir, I know, but I am hoping the seller will make it up, I have no problem w/1 of the kits, is just as they discribed........the other is a box of wood scraps, broken wheels and painted/melted parts! Instructions are in-complete and I believe the wood parts make up several dif cars? Listed as mint, un-built, 100% complete.......will see what they want to do, so far, not a peep from them. But hey, its the nature of the beast, this is not the 1st time nor the last I am afraid. If not made right, then I will have a box of spare parts that will need cleaning up. I offered to let them send another complete, unbuilt kit or refund 1/2 the money. Rick
  19. Got 2 Hudson kits today..............was not Christmas to me But hey, I have purchased many of them now and this was the 1st burn..........so 1 outta 10 ain't too bad, right. Rick 1 is two too many for me...........
  20. Well today is Friday, that day we all pass the rest of the working week wanting to get here! As Fridays go, a normal care free day, work winding done after a hecktic week, time to catch your breath. Trip home from work goes with out a hitch, no road rage today? As I get to my apartment, my wifey says, you have one of those little packages today in the mail.......oh my gosh, is it going to get even better???????? I take the small package to my study.........I already know what is in the package, dang where is that knife to cut the tape! Box is open and inside is two little boxes, one from 1948, the other from 1949. What are these little jewels, why Hudson Miniatures purchased from eBay, Buy Now, no bidding and fighting for these little babys.........opened 1st one, and just as discribed, mint, untouched, unmolested by fat little fingers, complete.........oh happy, happy, joy, joy! Quick inventory, 100% back into box w/military packing, left right left. Opened the 2nd box...........what tha........this box is just a box of woods pieces, painted, pulled apart parts, looks to be maybe parts to 3 differant types of cars, and none of them complete to build said car. I go back and read the sellers discription........mint, complete, un-built ready to add to your collection? Then I noticed that the listing said item was located in FLA, yet when the package it came was looked @, came from TX..........is anything about this deal the truth. Sent a msg. To be continued:
  21. On the Caddy they rep the radiator. ..........painted black!
  22. Spent today correcting those little areas I had missed as my friend Frank was so kind as to give me a heads up on. Weather here in the Ole South is rain, freezing rain, chance of light snow.........no painting for me, but this weekend........70 degrees.......can and will paint then and post some photos. Rick
  23. Outstanding............you set the goal high! Rick
  24. Yea, she's a keeper...........I did get the one I ordered last week, today in the mail! So I already have one, 100% complete. So if'n I do win this one, I think I am going to give it ago, build using what comes in the box and see just what can be done with the material as provided by a kit that is older than I am! Of course, the chain will be sourced.........1/12th motorcycle chain w/sprockets. Rick PS: I have become addicted to these Hudson Miniature kits...........they just fascinate the he hockey sticks outta me!
  25. Again you and I think alike, plastic and brass shim plate will make for most excellent building materials. And you can keep the kit intact except for a few of the plastic items that comes w/the kit. I will admit, I do have one of them that I am going to give ago with using what comes in the box to see just what can be done with the material as provided. I have started looking for those kits that look like they might be missing parts, yet the wheels and other goodies are still there, that way when you do build one of them, you can still keep everything w/the kit as it came. I did have a miss on ebay, I was bidding on a complete HM Mercer.......was not paying attention, looking @ something else and lost the bid by $1.00 USD , that would have given me a Old 16, a Stuz Bearcat and the last one I needed for a set of Racer/Sports types..........but I am sure another will come along. Harry, I am so looking forward to seeing what magic you work with one of thes kits. Rick
