You are Mein Friend..............Mein is my. Go to eBay, pull up Pocher and look for Photo Etch parts from Tremonia.........most of his stuff is one of and really nice SS PE. The only set I have seen f/a Rolls was a accessary set w/keys and odds and ends, but I do not think he has anything f/a Rolls listed right now. Rick

Federal Republic of Germany...............Deutschland. Mein Friend Rick Harry is scared..................

Yea, that fire belching out of 1 & 4 gets me too. Agree, he looks like he is a happy boy, but I love the photo of him. Research turns up he was a well like race driver and a force to be reckoned with behind the wheel of that big FIAT. I also like how the exhaust pipes are just straight tubes out the side of the engine, funny thing is Pocher includes these holes in the hood.....makes one think they had a idea to model one of these types as well. Yes, building table is cleared, Model Motorcars has received a order as well as a order off to FRG for a etched radiator cover. So, keep watching for the next up-date........just for you Cato. Well Frank is included too. Rick

What I am looking to do w/the FIAT...............Vincenzo Lancia, 1905 Vanderbilt Cup Race. Lead the entire race w/2 laps to go. Collided w/Christie, finished 4th.

Looking good bro..........apron is the word you are looking for. Watching you work on this has me working on a Pocher too. Rick
-
Ok........last photo was w/o seat and not top! Photo of completed work please......... Rick

Beautiful, really like the colors, makes the little jewel sparkle........looking forward to top being installed and will follow your suggested method of making a top......cool idea. Rick

The tedious stuff pays BIG in the end........I also agree w/Harry, once you assemble a Rolls or a Benz as well, you pretty much have arrived @ the pinnacle of the hobby. Funny in away, many think the Alfa is a push over as well, but if you correct and align body to frame, move engine back into scale location and add the details Pocher has left out, you can be proud of that one too after completed. The above mentioned corrections are not for the novice though and should only be attempted after you are comfortable with build Pochers. I do hope to build the Rolls again, but this go round, I will replace only that which needs it and correct only that which will be seen as Harry has pointed out. I want to build the Gentleman's Hotrod again. This also includes a mod to those infamous fenders. But a kit is needed 1st. Rick

of Job............

Like the German Gray for the frame........the Tamiya spray can for this color is one of those colors I use very oft. Works great for a base color and goes with everything, besides, your old everyday basic black gets boring after you have seen it on everything coming down the pike. Keep'em coming my friend. I for one enjoyed putting the frame together, even with all the gimmicks Pocher tried to incorporate with their kit............you already know what I am talking about. Look forward to more. Rick

Thanks Frank, looking for suitable tires/wheels now on eBay from those kits. Don't know about those 90 Hp's, but have you seen one of these little beasties..............also a Locomobile. Seems this little auto was known as a little terror.........power to weight would rival many of todays Sports Cars. Seems the guy that had this designed had a habit racing away from the local law........he just out ran them! I guess this was in those days that one did not have to worry about out running the radio?.........lol Look out Barney..........this one won't nip it in the bud. Rick

You are very welcomed Frank, I have read and re-read the thread and studied the photos of your build of the Locomobile. Rick

What do you think about using Aurora tires? I saw the set of kits you are talking about, noticed the water damage and what I took f/mold on the boxes.......I work construction........we have a saying about mold = gold, meaning the amount of work/money to repair the damage caused by this stuff. Ergo, I passed on those but if not for that, I would have maybe made a try f/them as well. I have spent about the last 2 hours researching the Locomobile, Dr. H.E. Thomas. his ordering a $18,000.00 race car from a company that had until then not built a racer, would go on to build 2 of them, Dr. Thomas's #7 90Hp and of course Ole #16. Campaigned in EU, stripped the gears, came back, used what was learned while there and went on to be a force to be reckoned with. Rick

Ok, I agree, there are options on the frame.........what do you recommend on the tires/rims.......seems that the ones in the kit are the option readily available..........albeit the tires are truly balloon type! Thanks for your help Frank. When I got home today, the 2nd Ole 16 kit had came in the mail. As with all of these I get, I go thru the kit and check everything out. Kit had been started by cutting out the frame rails.......which is a plywood material. The guy was using...........you guessed it, a single edged razor blade, that's old school.........lol. Everything is present and accounted for and it is funny, there are 2 prices penciled on the box.......1st one $1.95 and the 2nd $3.95........inflation? This will be the one I use for my GB build. Rick

I spent 14 years working on Tanks.........if I never see another will be too soon for me, but yea the car is way cool and I have seen clips of Jay Leno driving it, I remember him saying you had to plan your turn before executing it. My fav of Jay's cars is the Stanley Steamer, doing 60 mph.........way, way bad to me. And I remember him talking about a bike he has that the engine is a turbine deal out of a helo.........car was too close behind him @ a red light, the heat off of the exhaust was soooo hot, it melted the bumper on the guys car! Rick

South Bronx or not...........Ya still a Yank as a Brit would refer to ya................ Besides, I want hold it against where a fella is from. Rick

I have been searching for another Locomobile racer, I have found two that have my attention.........1906 period cars. I am leaning towards the Joe Tracy car, #7 Gordon Bennett Racer, 90 Hp. PS: It was asked @ one point what the frame on the front of the drivers side was for, and as always with the vast amount of knowledge here, the answer was for a canvas fender. I was doing some research and came across this small photo of car #7..........notice that only the driver was protected from the mud........the poor mechanic was just left to his own..........mud!
