  1. would it be possible to make the roll up doors like the tambour used in a roll top desk? By this I mean, you could take some type of fabric and glue horizontal wood strips to it so that it would roll up. I'm just thinking here.
  2. I folks. My name is Dave and I live in Clarksville, Tn. I've built model cars since I was a kid in the 60s with some hiatuses mixed in. But I've only ever built kits and have done some kit bashing. I love all sorts of cars, from drag racers to hot rods to custom kemps and lead sleds and so forth. My first love is with air cooled VWs as I drove the real cars back in the 70s and early 80s and I miss them. Recently, I've rediscovered the therapeutic benefits of building scale modes again and I've begun my collection anew. I've purchased a number of VW models that I will be building over the coming months and I'll be joining in the discussions here to keep my interest alive. I'm really glad to find this forum. It seems like a really good community of sharp people.
  3. I know that I'm going to need one of these resin motors for a Baja bug I'm building. But I could also use a trans from a Bus. When these get resin cast, will copies be available for sale? Or can I cast my own with that Alumilite kit I saw at Hobby Lobby? I've noticed that all the air cooled VWs that I've spotted so far ALL have swing axle transmissions. For my Baja, I suppose that I will have to scratch build a long travel IRS but I've never done any scratch building before. So I'm winging it here.
  4. I was in Argentina in 2012 and I saw these little vehicles EVERYWHERE! I've spent the last half an hour going through my photos and I can't believe I don't have one. Apparently, the Argentine small business owners love them though.
  5. Are the nerf bars upside down in the above photo? Where did you say you got the Webers? Did they come with the kit? I have Revell's new 68 VW kit. I wanted to put dual Webers on it and I also wanted the Porsche Fuchs alloys. I got some from a Porsche kit that looks like they will work well. But I was also wondering how I was going to lower the front a little. I'm glad you started this thread. You've given me something to go on.
  6. I somehow feel that your 'cuda will make plenty of horsepower even without those intercoolers. Haha
  7. I just found this site and I must say that I'm impressed, not just with this aluminum hemi build, but ALL the models I've seen so far. Bill, please let me ask ... will there be a time soon when we could see this build in person? Oh, and one other question... If I'm willing to drive over to visit, may I help you bleed the brakes?
