  1. Ben you are O so right, 2 hole buds would sell as fast as they could get them on the shelf
  2. I agree that adding so many options to a kit would be a cost nightmare, however, they are on the right track with the rim and wheel sets. Offer the pieces to change the kits the way modeler want. Offer a day cab converstion, different engines, more bling, or plain white parts. We already are doing the changes with resin cast or kits that we are cutting up, so why not channel that money to a great model company. The same is true for the trailers, offer the reefer unit seperate, maybe even get a legal copy of a carrier unit, offer the rear swing doors or roll up doors as an accessory kit, this way we could cut up the 53' trailer and make shorter trailers (such as doubles or 35' delivery trailers), they already have the tooling. You can take 2 53' reefers and make 3 28' reefer pups, but you need more fronts/rears and reefers. That's my $0.02 worth
  3. Updates: Dropped a Cummins in the Transtar, added deck plat and pogo stick. Since the photo I have added the exhaust and breather supports, these are different from what came in the set due to the exhaust being on the drivers side. All of this is still a work in progress, I still need to put a turbo on the engine among other things. I have also started work on the city truck. Sorry the pictures are so fuzzy, shakes were bad today.
  4. My Kenworth K100E work in progress, all I have is the cab and tube.
  5. I have a K100 aero cab, will it mount to the 123 chassis? The Cat 3406 that comes in the snap pete and KW kits, are they decent and can they be somewhat easily fitted into non snap trucks? Thanks
  6. Is this diorama in 1/24 or 1/25 scale? It looks great
  7. If I may ask, were did you get the "Please Drive Carefully" Placard and holder?
  8. I love the 40% off, I got a testors air brush set for right around $16.00, now I just need to learn how to use it.
  9. The ones posted on youtube are great qualitiy, I believe there was a Retro TV Channel that was going to air Movin On and BJ and the Bear. Looks like they may have pulled them off that, dosen't look like it is from a video tape. If you use Real Player Cloud you can download them to your computer, then there is no streaming buffer. I have pulled a few BJ and the Bear, they are uploaded by a different person.
  10. Gary, I have manuals for the US Army's Yard truck, I can email them if you would like. The service manuals are in three parts and are too large to email, but I have the parts manual (9MB), Operator's, and Hand Receipt (shows everything it should have with it) Manual. Let me know
  11. Season 1 of Movin' On is on you tube, great qualitiy
  12. Yes they do, I can't wait for them to get the smooth side out. I am really hoping they produce a modern set of doubles with a silver eagle dolly. Also so hoping for a modern 53' reefer and dry container with chassis. In my lifetime I pulled tankers, reefers, dry vans, doubles, container/rail pigs and flat beds. One of the most unusual trailers I pulled was a roller trainer. I worked for a lumber company and I used it to deliver prebuilt wall panels. It was 48' long and the tandems would slide all the way up to the landing gear, then 2 hydraulic rams would lift the nose to set the rear end on the ground. It was a slick operation. In the box my wife got me at a yard sale there was a Kenworth K100E aero cab, crappy paint job, I want to strip it and hopefully get a chassis so I can build it.
  13. Here is what I have completed for now. My wife found me a Moebius 53' Reefer and got it for me when I got out of the hospital. I love trailers. I am going to use the Cummins from the freightliner kit she found at a yard sale. I think I will put the Detroit in the freightliner and make it a corn flake (CF) truck. Yes they had spokes on rear.
  14. This is the truck I am modeling my Transtar Kit after.
  15. Wärtsilä Reinforces Its U.S. West Coast Presence with New Facility in Seattle Wärtsilä North America, Inc., Local Press Release, 22 May 2014
  16. Does anyone know if there are scale drawings for making container chassis (for 20 and 48/53' Containers). I am working on my Transtart that will look like the one from my very first driving job and I would like to put a container on the back (as well as a 45' rail pig and a 1 hole tanker trailer), these are what I pulled while working for CMX Trucking (CSX Intermodal). I have never scratch built but a chassis is fairly straight foward, if you have drawing to work from. Thanks
  17. OK I am new here, BUT, the post was talking about the style of the new trucks, aerodynamic's / fuel MPG and why they are not liked as well as Navistar only putting Maxforce engines in their trucks. I have constructive information to add as to why the new trucks are designed the way they are. I thought this forum was for everyone, not just a select few loud mouths. I do not have a political agenda, I served this government and country for 19.5 years, it is the way it is. Maybe all you in model land don't want to know the truth. As for the post being dead for 2.5 years then why is everyone jumping my case? I get the impression you guys are a bunch of know it alls that never even drove a truck. I WILL FIND A NEW FORUM TO HANG OUT IN.
  18. That's funny - CHUCKYR makes comments about something he is clueless about, berates us, then gets cheers for telling us to go elsewhere.....
  19. I have no political agenda.. I drove for over 22 years before becoming a Disabled Combat Vet of Afghanistan and Iraq. I have drove all kinds of trucks - one that is properly spec'ed will get the MPG - the last truck I drove was a peterbilt and it didn't get but 4.33 mpg and when the DPF plugged up it shut you down. The emissions are BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH and they are not needed. All it is doing is driving up cost for everyone and putting people out of work - CAT Truck engines didn't go under, they made the decision not to keep pumping money into a lost cause - just fact. Why are we so concerned with the emissions when every other country is not - look at china, all we are doing is forcing the companies to relocate to places with less restrictions, again just fact. BTW - WTF who elected you the spelling police.......
  20. Part of the problem is big government the other part is big business. Trucking companies won't spend the money to equip trucks to run so the government decided they would have emissions controls to clean them up and get better MPG. You can take a W9 or a 379 (or even a K100 or 362) and get 8's and 9's, if you spec it correctly and drive it right. thats why there is a big boom in glider kits using pre-emission engines (check out Fitzgerald truck sales ). I learned to drive on a 362 with a 3406 CAT, we were getting 8.5 to 9.0 MPG all day long, but it had the power it needed to get the job done, not P**s and moan up a hill. On a side note about engines, I remember snicking when the Dayton Terminal Manager was telling us how much money American Freightways spends on trucks, he asked why I snickered so I told him for what they were paying they could have Kenworths instead of Volvo's. Then when Fed Ex went to place another large order of trucks Volvo said ok but you have to order them with our engine Fed Ex said no thanks and ordered a ton of Kenworths with the cummins they wanted. So if the big fleets that are buying the prostar wanted a different engine they would get it. It's all about the mighty $$$$. I will get off my soap box now. PS: Moebius - great products, if International is working with you they should be able to give you cad drawings of the 9670 - this seams to be a hot truck cab from the aftermarket. As for trailers, please a modern set of doubles (with or without Reefers) and modern containers and chassis (20', 40', 48' and 53') and to keep piece with everyone else a modern flatbed. To go with your wheel and tire sets how about some differant cab configurations or other options that could be sold seprately, just a thought. When I can afford a prostart it will be done up as a "Ryder Rental Truck". Thanks
  21. Guys, disregard this post, my wife shouldn't have did this, I don't need charity....
