Jolly, there are several kits available of the DeHavilland Comet. Probably the most common is the Airfix 1/72. I also found this one in 1/48--don't know anything about it or what it costs.

Beautiful, both of them! Very well done and model on!

Didn't get this today, bought it at the local toy show a few months ago. Put it in the garage and promptly forgot all about it until I went looking for something else yesterday.
Ertl 1/25 '69 Boss 302. "Calypso Coral" (might be a little light) on Cragar SS wheels and slicks. Not a GREAT model, but no worse than the original Revell '69 Mach I or not much, and looks like it should respond to some basic--and maybe advanced--Snake-Fu. I guess we'll see, because I just shoved it to the front of the To-Do list.

Man. Time flies when you're not having any fun at all.
Tell me about it. 2021 was my first "fully retired" year, and I only got HALF the number of models finished that I did in each of the last three years.
I've started telling people, "I've got nothing to do, and all day to fail to get it done."

I have been dealing with a particular aftermarket company for 25 years. They have switched most of their business to Ebay in the past several years. Recently two very rare resin truck cabs were listed. They were a bit pricey, but I bit the bullet and bought one. The other remained posted another 21 hours. The next day I got a message saying that they were sorry, but they posted two by mistake and only had one and it had sold. They said that they would refund my money. I responded back, that I had purchased mine a whole day prior to the other with no response. After my refund cleared, I sent another message letting them know that the refund cleared and addressed once again that I had purchased the item the day before the other sold. The response that I received was; “I told you we were sorry.” Now I understand that mistakes happen, but after 25 years of business and a lot of money spent over the years, I would liked to have had a better explanation than; “I told you we were sorry” or at least a nicer one.
Well it irked me anyway.[sniff, sniff] Smells to me like they only had one, and got a much higher bid for the second one than you paid, and decided to do you dirty and take the money and run. Post the name of these unethical cheats.

Just since this seems to be a "show and tell" thread....
I "rescued" a glue bomb last year; polished out the nice metallic burnt orange plastic. Turned out pretty nice but my photos didn't so I never posted it. Here's about the best of the cruddy pics.

I know what you're doing, looking for Bring Out Your Dead candidates. ?
Not really. BOYD seems to have died a natural death after Round 12. It was a good run--3 years and resulted in somewhere near 100 models finished that otherwise might not have been. I'm very proud of what BOYD accomplished.

We did. One year ago.

Pretty cool, you don't see these that often. Is than an AMT Parts Pack Pontiac engine?

Tim, I'm getting a message that your Fotki account has been blocked.

I’ll be watching for that one Snake. I love that Dobberton car, will you do the triple blowers? I plan on doing a pro street version in the future similar but not quite the same.
Same here--"similar but not quite the same." The plan at the moment is to convert the Moebius '65 sedan body to a '62-'64 type roof, if possible, then finish as a '64 match racer using the '64 grille and rear panel. Then I'll take the '64 HT body and use the '65 grille and rear panel to build a Dobbertin-ish pro street '65 on an AMT '66 Nova chassis. Not planning to triple-blow it, but will probably use one 6-71 and the Enderle bug catcher. Color will probably be blue.
Then I have a really nice AMT '63 convertible body with a roached windshield and A-pillars. The plan is to whack the roof off a '65 Rat Packer/Twister and graft it onto the convert body, as I don't care about droptops, and maybe use THAT with the Moebius '64 interior and chassis to make a nice '63 HT street cruiser. But we all have all kinds of fabulous plans, don't we?

Hey, anyone here watching Dexter New Blood on Showtime? The kid who plays Dexter's son could be Kye Kelly's little brother.

I'm glad to see that the rear panels are separate pieces. First thing I'm gonna do is see if I can alter the '65 sedan roof to look like the more common '62-'64 sedan roof, and if I can, I'll complete that body with '64 parts and probably build a period correct match racer. The leftover '65 rear panel and '64 HT body will get bashed and put on an AMT '66 Nova pro street chassis as a Dobbertin-ish hot rod. By that time I should have at least one if not both of my AMT '62 HT projects finished, and I have the makings to bash up a decent '63 HT body, so I can have a whole shelf full of 1G Novas! Happy Happy Joy Joy!

Huh. I guess this doesn't exist, then.

Sounds like the 2006 kit was more common, at least in the US, so I'll assume that's what it is. Thanks for the replies.

A milestone! Nova Quit sits on wheels and tires for the first time, just for an “attitude check.” I was worried about how wide a slick I could get in the wheel wells, but that wasn't a problem at all—the problem is diameter. These common AMT solid vinyls are right up against the forward wall of the well. I'll look for something just slightly smaller in diameter, or maybe I can just sand the offending spot on the chassis a little. I'm happy with the front end ride height but want to raise the rear a bit. I have a couple tricks in mind that should get me up 1/8” or so (three scale inches). Right after I took these pics, I lucked into finding a pair of 13” Cragars on tires on a glue bomb Opel GT gasser that's on my bench. Pretty sure I'll use 'em on this—what else am I ever gonna be able to use 13” Cragars on?
The hole in the Rat Packer hood is enormous—quite long. I don't feel like filling it, so I have to work with or cover it. Did a search in the Snakepit last night and couldn't find a scoop that would cover it, so looks like I'll have to scratchbuild a “Grumpy lump” of some kind.

Just to show that this pig CAN be built (and that I know what I'm talking about when I rag on it), I started this one when it first appeared in the '70s and finally succeeded in wrestling it to the ground about two years ago. I had MANY hours in making the front end actually fit the rest of the body, and trying to straighten out the roof....
And just to prove that I didn't cheat and glue the front end on (though I DID cheat and mount the whole hot mess on a '64 GTO chassis, but that's another pig wrestling match story....):

Sounds like Walmart bathrooms!LOL
The only time I ever had to use a Walmart bathroom, I used the one at the BACK of the store, not the one at the front, and as I was going in, the cleaning guy was just coming out. The place was spotless, and there was plenty of TP and paper towels. I had the joint to myself. One of my best public bathroom experiences ever, anywhere.

Happy New Year! Time again to ask, "What are you planning or hoping to build this year?" I didn't do so well in 2021. I think I completed 22 models but only about 6 of them were on my original 2021 Plans list. Ah shucks oh well, here's my list for 2022, and you'll notice a few are carried over from the 2021 list:
AMT '65 El Camino drag car rebuild (already well underway)
MPC '72 GTO drag car
AMT '62-'65 Nova hardtop—at least 1, maybe 2
New Moebius '64-'65 Nova—at least one, maybe 2
AMT '66 Nova pro street
AMT '66 Riviera for “Replica” group build
AMT '67 Riviera promo rescue
AMT '65 Chevelle street cruiser (carried over from 2021 list)
AMT '64 Cutlass HT—resin body with other original 1964 parts (carried over from 2021 list)
MPC '57 Chevy flip-nose gasser
AMT '66-'67 Falcon—at least 1, maybe 2
AMT '54 Stude or '55 Chevy for Cannonball group build
AMT '62 or '66 Thunderbird Sports Roadster—maybe both
AMT original annual '67 Cyclone glue bomb resto.
MPC '67 GTO “Mr Unswitchable” survivor resto/rescue
AMT '65 Chevelle AWB funny survivor restoration
Fiat or T-bucket altered dragster, maybe both
AMT '66 Impala promo rescue
AMT 60-'64 Corvair glue bomb rescue
AMT '71 Chevelle (carried over from 2021 list)
AMT Meyers Manx
Monogram '55 Chevy convertible custom survivor resto/rescue
AMT '65 Galaxie glue bomb rescue
How about you? What's on your GITTER DONE list for 2022?

I bought a nice built-up (relatively) late model Mustang at the local toy show. It's come up the rotation for some minor Snake-Fu (won't need much, it's really pretty well done).
My question is, what year is it? Did some net research and found out Revell did both 2005 and 2006 Mustang GTs and it seems to be one of them by the grille, wheels, etc. Looking at box art and builtups on the net, I can't see any difference between the 05 and the 06. Is there any? If so, what?

My experience with 2X Satin Black or Semigloss Black was similar to yours with the Nutmeg--runny, didn't cover high spots, took a long time to dry, etc. Disliked it so much I haven't bothered to try any of their other 2X colors. However, I've had excellent results with some of their other products--clear gloss lacquer and Cobalt Blue Metallic come to mind.
After reading this thread, I might have to try the metallic aluminum, though.

This one is like the Badman, not very good, but a fan favorite. I guess they both capture the era in an almost cartoony way.
At least Badman--and the '69 Camaro--have one piece bodies instead of two ill-fitting pieces, and roofs that aren't caved it.

She was so funny on all her shows.
I liked her okay, but was never a huge fan. But she did deliver a line in an SNL sketch a while back that had me gasping for breath with laughter: "You're barking up the wrong lesbian!"

And even more so considering he could have taken a first-round callout from a teammate and cinched the championship before they even started, but he drew out of the bucket and won every round like a man. Bravo to him! A true champion and the undisputed No Prep King! BOO-YAH!
Tonight it looks like they start a new round of JJ Da Boss's team showdowns--3 hours, and looks like every Tuesday from now on. (I'll have to catch it streaming on Wednesday--Tuesdays are for Oak Island for me.) Those are usually fun.
Don't count 405 out yet. Yeah they fielded several ducks but it looks like Jeff Lutz, Daddy Dave and Murder Nova could be strong contenders, if they could develop some consistency.
