  1. I've seen this car in person in San Diego, CA. Very cool car in person with some very cool details built into it! Looking forward to seeing your rendition!
  2. The wheels turned out awesome! Nice work!
  3. Looks awesome, can't wait to see more!
  4. Well, after completing my '48 Ford custom, I've decided to venture on and build a Gasser. I had picked up the Revell Ed Roth Bel Air with the intention of building a custom out of it utilizing the Roth art work, But I have to say that this kit pretty much sucks, LOL. The amount of flash and mould lines is horrible along with the fit of some of the parts such as the front bumper. Anyways, somewhere I took a wrong (right?) turn and I decided that I wanted to build a Gasser out of it after seeing a few pics of the real thing. Here are a few pics at the start, I've only been working on it for a few nights here and there...mostly sitting and staring at it mocked up trying to figure out my next move. I've got some resin stuff coming for it and it will be my first time working with it. It will be powered by a Hilborn injected 427 with a manual trans. I've already started moulding the front end and converted it to a one piece flip front. Havent't decided how I want to do the interior as far as leaving it mostly stock or making it a little racier. Hope you enjoy the pics, suggestions, questions and comments are welcomed! Thanks for looking! I've glued the doors shut permanently as the fit wasn't that great and I didn't want to deal with figuring out how to hinge them since the fenders were no longer going to be in place for the hinges to attach. Still have some tweaking to do on the firewall/inner door jam area, but its coming along nicely I think.
  5. Thanks for the compliment! I'm very happy that my 6 year old loves cars and everytime I mention a hot rod show, he's ready to go! I've loved cars since I was a teen (my dad wasn't a car guy, it was just something I picked up on). I've built custom cars in real life and want to build something for our family again soon so we can enjoy it together. He loves seeing me work on the models and always has his input as to what I should do next, LOL. Hopefully his interest stays as it makes great family fun time.
  6. Thank you!
  7. Thanks Andy! Can't wait to see some of your stuff! ;-)
  8. Thank you guys! Much appreciated!
  9. Didn't like the super smooth look of the hood that comes in the kit so I added a strip of .010 styrene rod down the center to break up the expanse. Tapered the ends, sanded it down and voila! I think it turned out ok!
  10. Hi guys! New to the forum and "new" to building models after not having done one for about 15-16 years. I now have a 6 year old boy that has a passion for cars like I do, so I thought that getting back into modeling would be fun thing to work on together at some point very soon. My first car getting back into it is this 1948 Ford. Its being built basically box stock except for some basic engine details. Hope you enjoy the photos! I'm having fun with the build and my boy loves the car and it looks like some Snap Tite cars are in his future! Thanks for looking!
