  1. Back from vacation and got a few things done. Wheels have been painted and some base details have been done. The seat have been painted with textured paint and the backs have the Kevlar decals added. The kit doesn’t give you any. I made mine by making a template from Tamiya tape and transferred it to Scale Motorsports decals. After they dry for a few days I’ll add some clear to them. Interior has had the pedals and foot plate added on drivers side. The holes were opened in the foot plate. A light weathering has been done to show some wear. I am thinking about adding some driver and co driver.

Before joining this forum I had only dreamed of the day I'd see the Quattro in a scale kit. . . Not only am I enjoying this WIP thread, but also loading up the wishlist/cart to buy the Beemax kit for myself soon, and anxiously awaiting the release of some other ones.

There's only about 4 Group B's that I want, and of course the Audi is right there at the top, you sir are doing an excellent job of building this one.

edit: question, have you thought about, or know which car you are making? By this I mean, are you going to decal it up for Walter Rohrl, or Stig, or another driver?

Thank you very much. I really haven’t thought about a driver yet, but it will be a Monte Carlo rally version.. I have a jar of the Tamiya detail snow I want to try.

  3. Well done. Off to a great start. The ignition run to toward the back of the car. There is two ignition blocks at the back of the motor. One on each side. Look at the first pic I added and you can see them there black. It gets pretty tight in that area when all the parts are there. Keep the Kers line neat and tidy. They will run under the tube of the air box.

  4. I love modern technology ! ! !  The wheels just arrived from ups. These are smooth and top notch printing. I love the fact that you can have made what ever you want with pictures and good measurements. The tires are coming from a Tamiya kit that has the gravel options. Five rims were ordered because one goes inside the car behind the seats.

    Enjoying this build Tim.

Thank you....I haven’t built a rally car in a long time and forgot how much I enjoyed building them. There is a bunch of extra details you can do to these cars to practice or try something new. Chipped rims to weathering to dents and ripped off side view mirrors. I’m on vacation now but will be back at it in the next few days. The brain wheel has been turning. Look out!,,

Great build here, glad someone's started it!

Question - did you have to ask in the weathering with a flat clear?

The weathering kits are like a make-up base. Kinda like a pastel. Tamiya doesn’t use. A clear or flat over them like the AK stuff. It will rub off if rubbed hard.

Fantastic so far! Who makes the Audi kit? I remember these when I was a rally marshall. I would see these and the other group 5 cars ( 037 Lancia's, Ford RS 200 etc) on our World Rally GB (RAC Rally) on the stages. Super quick and loud!

Pat your lucky.. I would of loved to see the group 5 cars. The kit is by Beemax. A decent kit. Builds like a Tamiya rally car. Curbside kit. I’m building the car as a snow night stage version, it’s worth getting if your into rally cars. Beemax has a few other kits on the way that look good. A full detail Delta s4.

  8. screens have been added . The screens on the real car are white. Started the mock up and build of the interior. I’m thinking about adding some drives to the car. The foot plate has had the holes opened to show the floor color though. I added a shot of this new super glue I started using. This stuff is the best I’ve ever used. It sets fast and rock hard. Test twice and glue once. Found it on Amazon. It  is industrial strength. Was recommended by another builder I know. $8.00 for the bottle three different flavors

Well, well- looks like I'd better get busy. Guess I could have mentioned that I haven't begun the WIP thread yet, probably today. Those pics are quite an inspiration! What did you use on the exhaust there to replicate a heat wrap or whatever? I was considering tin foil dull side out.

I used the MFH heat shielding. I have used tin foil. If you look in this WIp. Someone said Micheals Has a product that wil work as well. Then I stained it with the Tamiya weathering kit.
