  1. It's been a long time since I've posted here. Basically two years of little to no modeling at all. The wife and I moved from our house to an apartment for my wife's new job (new to the area and wanted to make sure my wife liked her job and with me being in law enforcement I wanted to scout out the potential areas we would live and not end up in some crime riden area). We now have a house, have my model area setup, just finished my paint booth and got an airbrush. All I can say about using an airbrush is why did I wait soooooooooo long to get one!! I had always used cans to prime and paint the body and parts and the amount of overspray and smell (wife has respiratory problems so I always had to use the cans outside). I've gone with acrylic paint for the airbrush and absolutely love it. So easy to clean, dries quickly and no issues with the fumes for the wife. First on the list is a Tamiya Porsche 959. Glad to be back
  2. Very nice, I've always loved that Ferrari
  3. Thanks for the replies. Guess its either the Grand Cherokee or scratch built. I saw the 1/20th scale on ebay, I might be able to swing that one. Once, again thanks guys.
  4. Does anyone know of any manufacturer that makes a 1/24 or 1/25th scale of a Jeep Cherokee? I found a Grand Cherokee by Tamiya but would like a "regular" Cherokee. Thanks guys
  5. It took a while to find the paint I liked I'm real happy with the way it turned out
  6. Its from Dupli-color Sonic Blue Pearl I knew I skipped over some detail. I can still do the skid plate though, thanks for the suggestion I'm going to start on that one before I get too far along.
  7. Hey I had started this in the car section by accident http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=32582 Here are some more up to date pics
  8. Sorry for the delay in updating this: the brakes before and after it meet mr. pin vise The suspension:
  9. wow, there is going to be a lot of work, can't wait to see the end result
  10. Being from Maryland too, I truely appreciate that model, looks great
  11. It never occured to me that there was going to be no room for a hinge on the rear passenger side door till after I cut the doors out. More future planning next time I guess. This is going to be more of a "show truck" then a floor model, so I figured on making it a little more crazy and creative. This is all a learning experience for me, thanks guys for keeping up
  12. Thanks, what are you working on now?
  13. I had to wait till I got a pen vise drill (the best tool I have bought so far, highly recomend one if you don't have it). I had to custom make some leaf springs for the suspension stock one is the bottom: Needed to make those for the new tires, Supper Swampers!!! The brass pins are temporary just to see if everything fits, then I'll make all the adjustments For the leaf springs, I got the idea from here: http://public.fotki.com/modeljeeper/models/working_leaf_suspension/
  14. Wow, very nice and clean
  15. Trying for the Gullwing door, its actually going to be closer to "Gullwing meets sliding door" And finally the passanger door
  16. Thanks guys. Here are some more, did this today: First headache down The panels for the doors are a little smaller then I was hoping, so I'll have to add some sheet styreen (sp?) to it. Biggest problem is going to be the passanger rear door. Its a suicide type opening door, barely any space for a hinge so I'll have to be creative...maybe make it a Gullwing door
  17. Great build! I love the engine detail
  18. Here are some starter pics for my first attempt at hinged doors. I'm planning on a two tone paint job (metalic blue upper and a metalic white for the lower).
  19. Thanks guys. I lucked out on this one, I got it off ebay back in April. Good luck in finding one, I'll keep you in mind if I find one.
  20. Finally done. This was more of a refresher, its been about 2+ years since I've done any modeling and I learned some new lessons on this one (like making sure the body can go over the frame before you have painted it). I had to take the lower part of the nose off put the body on the frame then glue the lower part of the nose back on. I followed the directions, but they were also from 1985. Here was mine inspiration(thanks ebay): Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  21. Been a little bit since I've updated this with some pics, but I'm getting close to finishing. I haven't put the clear coat on yet, its been very humid the past couple of days:
  22. Hey all, my wife and I just got back Aruba (great place, first time there). When we were there it amazed me at all the different cars from what I'm used to here in the US. I took some pics, my wife ws getting annoyed towards the end because I would stop and just start taking pictures of cars and not the the beach, but here are some, hopefully these might give some people ideas on news models to make: and no my wife isn't a giant, she is only 5'3" An oldie Nissan 280z in really great shape for being on an island with 80% hummidity and salt ever where A "Chevy" not a Chevrolet pick-up as noted by the emblame on the tailgate A Toyota 4 door (early 90's) Hilux short bed Newer Toyota Hilux A Mitsubishi Patrol SUV (6 cylinder turbo charged diesal)
