  1. Does anyone know where i can find door handles {inside and out}, armrests, gauges etc... just looking for a basic set - not too worried about being year specific. But am building a '49 Merc in case it matters
  2. stitchdup: thanks for the advice... I only have to do the two little side windows on the Merc so that will have to be my testing ground, but I'm planning on trying to crew-cab {plus a bit} on the '56.
  3. I have "heavily modified" a '49 Mercury and plan on a '56 F100 next... but this has and will require changing the size of some of the windows. Is there a way to modify clear plastic parts or a way to make replacements?
  4. Engines showed up today: a "429 Boss" and a "427 FE". The blocks seen to be about the same size... not to worried about the top of the engine right now as I have to come up with some kind of a workable intake because of the hood modifications... not sure what I'm gonna do there yet.
  5. Thanks for all the input guys!!! Unfortunately, I basically know enough about cars to know which pedal to step on to make it stop or go. But I do like the Rodents idea about just flipping the oil pan around. still waiting on the engines to show up in the mail {supposed to be today} ... then I'll see what I have.
  6. Zippi, I can't even remember anymore what my initial intention was with this car... all I know is that it wasn't this. 🤪
  7. Thanks Dave, I figure it's only a model so I can pretty much do as I please with it... not really concerned with how much oil it holds - but good information all the same
  8. Thanks guys... I've done enough work on this thing already - I'll make it fit if it doesn't!!!!
  9. I'm building a '49 Merc that has been extensively modified. I was told that a 427 SOHC engine would be a good choice to fill the engine bay. I was fortunate enough to come across a "427 Boss" and a "427 fe". Now, since I know nothing about cars... i was wondering what the difference is and would one be a better choice over the other? This is what I have so far on the Merc
  10. tkzwolf, thanks buddy... I've messed this up so many times that I'm kinda surprised I've made it this far.
  11. avidinha, it really wasn't intentional... once I started this just kinda got away from me. I intended at first to just do something Pro Street
  12. slusher, Thanks my friend... if I don' get some color on this thing pretty soon - who knows what I'll do to it next.
  13. bobthehobbyguy, I have to admit I might've overthought this one just a lil' bit... but now that it;s started i can't wait until the next project - if I ever get this one done.
  14. mrm, I see what you're talking about on the skirts... but I still have alotta work to do on the chosen tires as well and didn't want to completely hide them inside the body. The openings still need to be fine tuned as far as the shape goes. And yes - this is my 1st attempt at modifying a car in any way. If only you knew how many times I've had to start over from the near beginning since I started this little project.
  15. espo, thanks my friend... i'll post the work as it goes.
  16. Need to make a set of windows... any ideas on this?
  17. thats4u, thanks my friend... hoping to get it done soon.
  18. TarheelRick, it was a lot easier than i thought... took the shortcut and just extended to chassis in the same places i extended the body. Sees to have worked out well enough.
  19. doorsovdoon, I'm hoping so... it took a long time to get this far.
  20. 1972coronet, I agree... I've been looking at that for some time now - just waiting on the inspiration.
  21. Mattilacken, thanks so much... for my 1st attempt its a lot more work than i originally thought.
  22. David, thanks... always some fine tuning to be done - i spend alotta time just staring at it to see whatever i missed the first time around.
  23. Spex84, the lengthening started because as a kid i always remembered the hoods of those cars looking like they went on forever... so i just work with that.
