Food Dehydrators & Paint Dryers
CountryJoe replied to JayVee's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Sorry for how I'm sure this is gonna sound... Is this all just about time and the general lack of patience... or, is there a real genuine advantage to using this process? Is it all about the paint... I realize that most fillers dry fairly quickly to begin with - so is there any advantage there? Seriously, not trying to be or sound like an a** or anything... It's just that my schedule often allows me a week or two at a time before I get back to my bench - so if it's purely just a time thing... ... ... -
Detailing - How far do you go with Bolts?
CountryJoe replied to CountryJoe's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thank you gentlemen... -
Now that is something worth looking into...
-
I've looked around and seen that people had bolts to just about everything imaginable... And sometimes in ways I never would have thought of. But my question does not run so deep... "If I was adding a roll-bar setup to the bed of a pickup and put the bolt heads on the mounting plates - do I need to go all the way through and somehow finish it off on the underside of the truck?" I know some are gonna say "it's personal choice"... but, what I guess what I looking for is a kinda general idea of whether or not this is something that most would just automatically do if they were doing the same thing. Thanks as always for your time.

Thanks Gentlemen, I have been goin' over this in my head for about 3 weeks now and never woulda thought about the umbrella material... I've probably got 2 of 3 of them broken little suckers sittin' in the bottom of my closet somewhere. Thanks again... I'll let you know howit works out.

Here's one... has anyone ever made one of those "Bra" things that goes over the front of the car? Where would you even begin? Any suggestions? Something kinda like this...

How far is too far... ?
CountryJoe replied to CountryJoe's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Tom, First of all... thanks for the invite, I would love to come one day and check it out. I will keep and eye on your site and let you know when I'm gonna be able to make it. Second... The photos helped me understand the chassis option a little better. However, whether or not this makes any sense - I'm not really wantin' to make the 55' into a funny car... I just really kinda like the option of the lift body. {plus, I've got me some overall design plans where I'm sorta needin' the original chassis} But, I do appreciate all the suggestions you guys've given me already. -
Gentlemen... How wrong would I be if I wanted to build the 55 Jukebox Ford from Revell with a lift-up type body {without making a whole new chassis for it}? I've "never" modified anything before and don't want my first attempt at it to get me laughed right off the forum. I have much respect for the people on this site who have helped me before and for the work I have seen done here - so, your complete honesty would be greatly appreciated - no matter how brutal it may be. I love this hobby - and don't look forward to being the laughing stock of it.

Now that sounds exactly like what I'm looking for... will have to look into that - thank you!!! {man do I love this site...}

Thanks guys! Was trying to avoid the plastic route... the ones from Model Roundup looks like something I'll be able to work with. I'm planning on putting these puppies on a 1:25 chopped, lengthened and widened '56 f100.

Gentlemen, Is there anything out there to accurately duplicate rubber mud flaps? I have searched the web... looked through this site the best I could - and as of yet I've found nothing. Anyone have any suggestions for me?

Sorry to come in 2 years later but... whatever came of this? The whole "pie section" thing is a first for me.

I'm building a pro mod car and would like to try putting holes in the side windows. I've seen these on the actual cars {no idea what they are for} but they seem like a nice touch. Now, the clears parts have never been something I've ever had very much luck with... I've chipped more of these suckers than I'd ever care to mention. It just seems to me that they would be something that wouldn't take very kindly to a drill bit. Is this possible or should I be looking for some other material to make windows out of?

Ace: I came across the Revell '55 Jukebox Pro Mod Kit... I haven't been able to find much information on the actual car. I picked this one up a swap-meet and it came with no instruction sheet. So I basically just kinda reachin' in the dark right now. -
I've seen just about everything covered here: but what I haven't seen "yet" is anything on trans linkage... I'm sure it's out there but I haven't been able to find it. I'm working in1/25 scale - has anyone ever done this before? {I'd like to make it move if possible}

Art, My head is now swimming with ideas... is there no limit to what else can be done once the roll-cage is finished? Brake lines - Fuel lines - I think I'm gonna have to start making a list.
-
Gentlemen, Thank you both for all the information. 1mm is something I can get an abundance of at the drop of a hat... brass/copper, rods/tubes and generally 16' in length. So, I'm pretty sure I got that end of it covered. What I have access to starts at .10mm up to 3.0mm usually in either brass or copper... if there is anything I can ever help you two gentlemen out with in regards to this material - just let me know. Thanks again for your help.
-
I have access to a lot of smaller dia. rods and tubes through the company I work for... what is the absolute correct size that a roll-cage should be made with for 1/24 scale?
-
Thanks Ace: I got so wrapped up in the idea that I didn't even consider the fact that I'd have to bend the material. But, after thinking about it now I can certainly see your point - so, Styrene Rod it is!

Am thinking about making my own roll cage in 1/25 scale: However, I don't want to do it in plastic... so I was wondering if anyone has used other materials and if there is one thats easier to work with than another. Not sure if it makes a difference or not once everything is painted but... I have access to a wide range of sizes in brass or copper - aluminum of course from the local hobby shop. But unsure how to attach them - any suggestion would be great.
