thanks for all the compliments guys, I mentioned in my original post that I still need to do the marker lights, I ran out of foil but just picked up some today so I'll post pics once I take care of that thanks again I appreciate the feedback!

Nice cuda! I have two of them, doing one in plum crazy like yours, I hope it turns out that nice! Gotta love the Monogram 1:24 mopars.

Excellent build of an excellent kit. Really nice work!

Hi everybody, sorry I haven't been on in months, my '72 GTO project took a tumble off a dresser a few months ago and between honors classes in school and work I haven't had any time to start putting it back together. Hopefully I'll get that project back on track eventually. Anyway heres my latest build, a '69 Nova SS 350. Paint is Rust-Oleum Orange with no clear coat. The front end was way too high out of box so I ripped out the axle pins and dropped the front end all the way, the right front wheel gave me trouble but it's good enough for me. I still need to paint up the side marker lights and put on the license plates, but here she is. I took the pics with a neat little nova badge my brother got me from a pawn shop.

Thank you for the compliments Jeff! I can't wait to see your build, while this kit is junk it is still a beautiful car. Dan, yes this kit is garbage, good to know about the street custom, I think spotlight hobbies has it on sale, my next '72 will be from that issue I'm still working on the bumper and taillights but I did manage to move the rear wheels, I ended up ditching the metal axle and just gluing the wheels to the car with superglue. The rear tires supplied in this reissue are waayy to big for the wheel wells, making it hard to center the wheels. I just picked up the revell '69 nova today so I'm eager to get this gto finished and move on to greener pastures...

My fingers are now all superglued together, but the bumper is chopped and drying. Next I'll cover it in foil and trim the taillights

Thanks Bruce! i just started hacking away at the bumper, I don't have a razor saw so I use an old sawzall blade held in my hand, im removing about 3/32 from each side. I couldn't cut it down the middle because then the license plate panel wouldn't look right

Well I took a 2 month vacation from this build, but I'm back at it and the goat is almost done thanks for all the compliments, Charlie that is a great idea, maybe someday I'll attempt a bash like that but my skills aren't there just yet, Raoul, the bumper situation is puzzling, I'd like to build one of the '88 issued 70 goats, it's nice to know it doesn't have this problem but yes that is weird alright so I got the front wheel spindles moved on the '72, so the front wheels are now in their correct locations, I moved the rear wheels but they're still too far back, I need to drill holes way farther forward under the hood, the motor is installed and complete, no fancy detailing here, I figured it would be a waste on this kit next up: cut up the back bumper, move the rear wheels, foil the door handles and done!

1971 Plymouth GTX or Roadrunner...Finally painted!!
95neon replied to Glenn Tooley's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I have 3 of these kits, I just did one in "lemon twist" yellow/ black interior which really looks sharp, but they also look excellent in medium metallic blue (like b5 or so) with blue, white, or black interior lowering the front end makes a big difference looks good, this is a beautiful car, looking good and I'm looking forward to see what colors you choose -
Beautiful work! One of my favorite kits cant wait to see this one done!

thanks for the comments Jeff! That really makes me feel good to hear that from a fellow modeler. The dash and console were not that hard, I just used brown acrylic craft paint and a silver gel pen from the dollar store. I'm glad you like my WIP! so the GTX is almost wrapped up, I'm having some real problems getting the front end to stick together but it's looking ok for now... my camera doesn't really capture the true color of the car...oh well... foiling is done and next I'll get the spoiler on... Sorry for the poor pics, my desk light isn't up to the task

Thanks for the comments Jeff the 440 is just about complete for my GTX Seats are glued together, did some wood grain inside Now it's time to start foiling
-
My brother gave me the latest release of monogram's '71 GTX/Satellite for Christmas this morning and I didn't waste any time getting to work... body is painted with Rust-Oleum paint, interior and other bits are done in Dupli-Color black primer, gives a nice texture for interiors. Grill is already detailed, most parts are painted, now it's time to start gluing The extra 340 in the background is going in a Chally T/A or AAR 'cuda. Merry Christmas everybody!

Here's a quick mock-up, front wheels fixed but I still need to move the rears forward. Still need to finish up under the hood...
-
i managed to tap to tap them out with some pliers and centered the incorrect wheel, re using the original pins. I did notice the little square but I was not aware of its origin. I love learning the history of different kits. Yes something is messed up in the rear, I will just trim the bumper and hope for the best...
-
Thanks for all the replies, now that Christmas vacation has started I can really get moving on this beast. Finished foiling the window trim today, installed glass then started grinding out the terribly placed seat locators (I'm not too concerned about the pin marks on the interior because they won't be seen once the car's together) next step: fix the wheel placement (I need to get the front wheel pins out somehow as they're stuck in their holes...

Nice! I have two of these, fun kit to build. Excellent work!

Considering its 30 degrees outside, I can't get any outdoor pics but I'll post a couple now that I've done the side marker lights with it in the pics are my MPC dart and Monogram mustang not the best pics but they'll do for now
-
Haven't done much to this car over the past few months, as I've had better kits to build but I figured I'd get this nightmare over with... almost done foiling the trim, did wood grain and chrome on dash, rubbing out orange peel on the body, motor mostly assembled some major issues: there are locators in the interior for the front seats but they are in the wrong spot, and the wheels don't line up with the fenders of the body... Ugh feedback welcome, hopefully I can get this puppy wrapped up someday...

Thanks for all the compliments everybody hemihauler, thanks for clearing that up about the paint, also can't wait to see your 'bird!
-
Yes I hope to do that today then take some out door pics

Thanks for the compliments! MeatMan, I'm not even sure if sublime green is correct for a mopar (it might have been called limelight?) but it sure is a neat color Kit Basher, yes I'm in the process of building the Revell slab-sided R/T kit, that is mine in the background. Also please ignore the wall paper, of course I picked the worst spot for photos... Anyway yes build the Monogram kit, it is not as easy to build As the Revell kit but is a fun build and yields excellent results. Slusher, Thanks!

Oh sorry the photos are so bad I just snapped a few with my iPad...
