Finished writing this one recently. The story behind this kit is rather fascinating. This iconic bike kit was designed by the legendary model designer Kazuo Okabe, once worked at Tamiya whose famous works include the first Tamiya 1/12 big scale Honda RA273, the first Tamiya 1/6 – Honda CB750 Four, and the 1/25 Tiger 1. This level of craftsmanship that can be seen in this kit is almost missing nowadays, even though modern design and production have become much easier with computers. 7000+ words. Read the entire review here: https://larrysscalemodelworld.ca/2025/01/06/lets-review-protars-1-6-moto-guzzi-v-850-california/ The attached GIF is made from the instruction manual, which demonstrates how the engine of this bike works.

This is brilliant, thank you!

Dan, would you mind sharing with me what kind of plastic sheet you are using with this machine? Also, do you think a clear part can be used to make a vacuum-formed part? I am afraid the clear part will crack or deform because of the heat. Thanks in advance!

Thanks, Mark! I am afraid that won't work because this kit has been discontinued for years...But I will call the Canadian Tamiya dealer and see...

Big crack on the tamiya 1/6 harley sidecar windscreen. I think my options are... 1. buy another box, pricy, and not worth it. 2. find a way to fix this, pretty much impossible 3. buy a sheet of clear plastic and make a new screen out of it Can I get some great ideas here, guys? Please!

I managed to get a set of rain tires and the Japan rear section (including the rear wing) from MFH. Instead of making the 1976 Japan GP version, I am more interested in making the Canadian GP version for car No. 3, Mr. Jody Scheckter. I wonder if anyone from that time could kindly talk a bit about his car, particularly the rear section? Did he have the holed seat or just the plain seat? I have so many questions but couldn't find much insightful information. Apart from recreating it in 1/12 scale, I am also very curious about the design of the car. I have left the engine partially finished for more than a year... Any information will be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone, Hope you are all doing well. I have been collecting Tamiya's 1/12 big scales for some years and I have collected many of them. Although, most of the kits are way older than me. I want to ask for some insights here since I know most of you are very experienced modelers throughout your lives - How good were those kits? for example, the 1/12 935 martini, 1/12 934, the several 1/12 70s F1 series, 312T, M23, P34, lotus 78, and more, and the MP4/6, fw14b - Were these full interior kits considered kind of SUPER KITS at that time? And also, what about Tamiya's military models in that same time? Thanks!

Apartment, 12th floor. Windy, spray, came right back to my face several times. I don't feel anything right now, but I can see some of the paint under the gap of my mask on my face, but they can be easily just wipe off using fingers. Should I worry about anything? I am going to get a face shield thing tomorrow, that clear plastic thing, guaranteed. Thank you everyone!

I think after all they are trucks...eh? RC though. I treated them like scale models...that's why I insist on buying hard shell body ones. Tamiya's the best! The F-150 Ranger goes first. It is a Blackfoot 2016, with 3D printed emblems. I call her "the Fireball." Got some aftermarket flame decals for her. Window nets made from masking tapes. Then I have the Tundra. I actually have a 2020 TRD Offroad one, so this Tundra is a must-have to me. Also I got the MFC-02 kit for sound and lighting... IMG_1405.mp4

Considering the scale - 1/12, I have to say my 787B kit, particularly those car body parts- are very heavy and thick. But I think you are right - if resin has any chemical reaction with alcohol which I have no idea at all - but I'll be extremely cautious for sure. Thanks again!

Thanks a million, sir! My bad that I failed to mention that I am actually pretty confused with the resin kit itself since it feels super hard to cut - then I found I might find something useful from home depot will go there and check tomorrow. Plus I am currently an international student so I actually have all my tools back in my hometown however I do want to cut and sand this 787B to kill some time. Anyway, thanks again!

Try to start working on the big scale MFH Mazda 787B, any recommendations guys? Thanks!
