The big surprise in judging for me is the obvious things that are missed and therefore eliminate the entry from having a chance at a trophy, Just missing the mark on basic building Technics.

How many bikes are there? Four in a box @ $25.00 ? That would go.

As a judge, I have to say we look at what is presented. On the subject of not knowing everything about every make of car, we know that and consequently, search out those of us that do have some knowledge on any certain build. Most often time is of the essence, contestants want the results, thus looking through a myriad of books, spec. cards or descriptions longer than the space provide on the contest cards, I'd have to say we don't have time. Moving on with this subject, I've often wondered if a question and answer period after the judging would be beneficial? I realize this would open up a big can of worms.

Sad thing, looks like there's more than one out there. "Cart round up in lot 4."

In frustration I flew one of these into the wall. I must admit, the only time I ve ever done that. My Mom said" I think you dropped something." I did finish the build, working landing gear, dive flaps opened when you pulled the arresting hook out (" Pull my finger.. ) folding wings, I got everything to work, a proud accomplishment.

Goes to show, some carbs are different colors. Carter AFB's / AVS's tend to be more on the aluminum side, whereas their Edelbrock counter parts are more toward chrome.
