Hey Now.... I just got the 1st step and massage all the parts that pertains to the hull... Lightly sanded the parts to fit... ("I Stress very Lightly") As you all know Resin Material cuts real quick when sanded so use a finer nail file or a used and abused nail file as I did. I had to file all the flashing and made sure everything fit up correctly secure parts in place bye using masking tape. I still need to address the canopy glass frame because its not a clear area from the casting. Also please excused the dust bunnys inside the lens I need to take camera into the shop for a rigorious cleaning... Fuelish December 30th 2007.................................

Hey Now... I just spent some time and open up the package from http://www.alteredstatesmodels.com/ "The Original Top Fuel Hydro..." The casting is very well defined with minimal flash. As you look at the photos I did no sanding or cutting to bring the 2 half's together only set the canopy on top with the dog house... So this is now going to be numeral UNO on my bench.. Nov 1st 2008 is dead-line for the Arizona NNL Hydro Competition. Will keep you guys up up-dated on the progress... Chuck Meir of http://www.alteredstatesmodels.com/ assured me that the canopy windscreen and the w-drive unit is going to be shipped out as soon as it is finish with the new molds for casting... Fuelish Spectator's Nhra Taxi
FuelishSpectator replied to FuelishSpectator's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Aaron... Please don't use the solder for headers like zoomies.... because they look bulky and not hollow on the end. Probably will work if you were building a set of pro-stock headers with collectors.... easy to bend but not great for zoomies style. Fuelish -
Hey Now..... “NHRA TAXIâ€. Was built from a Revell 1950 Austin Drag Car for the club monthly contest that I belong too. I “HATE†the operable doors because they don't seem to hang correctly even with modified with sturdy hinges that I custom built. The wheelie bars are made of brass tubing and silver solder together. The motor is a little less than I desired due that I only put plug wire and port line for the blown motor. I also used Carbon Fiber Decals on the Valve Covers and Injector Hat. The paint is all rattle can with a generic flat white base with liberal mounts of Boyds Aluma Yellow Pearl, That when I got into making decals by a simple inkjet printer. The only decals I did not create are the ones on the front window in white. But everything else was done by my inkjet printer. I use Krylon Crystal Clear to clear the decals to set the ink on the decals. Yes these decals are a special type where the water factor was used at a very mininal use... (Long Story in it's self.).. One last thing the decal for the grill was scan off a photograph that I took at a drag race..... Fuelish

Tim and Ron Thanx for the compliments. I don't want to steal Tim's thunder even though this is topic is all about him and his boat.... Now for a question to Tim... I can't place it.... Maybe on another message board you spoke of that you have 2 more Hydros? I been wanting to build a top fuel hydro ever since you guys had that hydro contest in Arizona many years ago. And now the question Can you help me find one to purchase. Presently emailing to some guy named Jim Richardson who might have a distance connection to a Top Fuel Hydro. Sorry for the delay I been working long hours all week long so I only check in once a week if that.... Fuelish PS... Right when I ask low and behold Don Thune of Reliable Resin posted a 1/25 scale drag boat in Resin Tim I still need you too help me if you can regardless if Don boat comes thru... Fuelish

Ron, I saw Tim's boat just a couple weeks ago at the Arizona NNL Show. See pics of his boat.. Give Tim a round of applause for such a quality build.... Fuelish

Fuelish Spectator's 29 Ford RatRod
FuelishSpectator replied to FuelishSpectator's topic in Model Cars
Nice welds. How where they done? James2 I used a small amount of Krazy Glue (Gel Form) on the end of a Sharpen Toothpick and try to create a weld by a swirly fashion like they create on real welds. Fuelish -
Hey Now I want to share a moment with ya.... "Kitbashers of So. California" just had there RatRod contest on Tues. Sept 04. I was lucky to place 2nd even though I was 90% done. Here is what I brought to the table.... Click on the Link to see the other Rats in the Contest. Fuelish

Hey Now!!!! I overheard that they now have started a new Category for us Drag Car Builders. Let me chime in with my rendition of a 2001 AA/FA with a Overhead cam McGee engine by by Ross Gibson and numerous parts from every Revell Funny Car kit I had in stock. The entire paint job was done with Rattle Cans. If you have any questions I will gladly answer them? Fuelish

Revell Chopper Build Off
FuelishSpectator replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Here is my Crusader Chopper I also have it listed Under Glass Category http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2903 Thanks for looking Fuelish -
Hey Now !!!! Check out my all the modifications... Only a person who built one of these would understand what was modified. Well 1st all the drive belts..... Even for the rear rim has a drive belt. Stole the entire drive line components from one of those Orange County Chopper Diecast.... I put a little raised GT type spoiler on the rear fender and put in the shift linkage above primary belt. Carbuterator was off the OCC Bike Diecast with custom spun aluminum bell and foam insert inside the bell. Shave the battery sides to put in the battery hold downs. Even the mirror is from the OCC diecast. Closer look at the Carbuterator and I even made my own Hex fittings. Upholstered the seat and even a better look at the primary belt. Man it is so hard to keep that lint off the bike when you do close-up pictures... Even has one of those top fuel bikes front spoiler things. The paint job is done with a "MetalFlake Brand of candy Purple thru an air brush with a Hok silver base (Not Orion Silver) This bike took me 75 hours to build span over 2 months. Thanks for checking it out.......... Fuelish

G&J, Can you post the form that you used to describe the model as well as the builder info. I have seen this form in Model Car Mag. many times. Because there is a Model Car Contest in San Bernardino, Ca. this weekend. If you are interested I can submit to Photos to you and the forms as well. Or can you tell me what issues that this form is in so I can scan and make copies. Thanks Fuelish

How old are you??
FuelishSpectator replied to KT EASTMAN's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just think that back in 1959 Chris Karamesines (The Golden Greek) was running Top Fuel and below is a snip-it from drag list website. He still occasionally run at selected NHRA event today. That would be 47 + years of driving Top Fuel. A un-sung hero Fuelish -
Post your stalled projects
FuelishSpectator replied to Mark C.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This model is more than... I thought... I can handle. Just alone the body has 100+ hours into it. I mean that just in the roof area. I applied body filler and ran it too hot and melted the roof. (Not once but twice).. As for the rest it should be a piece of cake.... This was started over 2 years ago and last touch by hands approx: 3 months ago... Fuelish Spectator
