Do the later re-issues of the AMT 70 impala have the Axle thru the Engine or has that been revised? If it has'nt what would be a good donor chassis for this kit?

Sounds like you may have had some oil possibly from your fingers on the painted surface after letting the paint dry wet sand the surface down some and try some grease and wax removerto prep it for paint
