AMT 1966 Pro Street Nova
Steve "Stangfreak? Mason replied to Steve "Stangfreak? Mason's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Another thing I forgot to mention, the spindles to mount the front wheels on are slightly off~set, and instructions don't clarify at all which way to assemble them, or which part number goes on which side. It's a 50/50 chance if you get them right, which I did not on the first try. If you notice in the first pic of the car, the front wheels are set back too far towards the door. I had to tear the front end apart to switch the spindles. Notice the last pic of the car with the front wheels where they should be... -
Has anyone else here had any experience with this kit? I had quite a nerve racking time with it. First it was molded in blue and out of some kind of a soft plastic that was pretty difficult to sand or file. Many pieces did not fit well and had to be modified to fit properly. Other small pieces were molded in the trees too close that portions of the tree was into the pieces. All~in~all, the build came out quite nice, but was one that came close several times to hitting the wall at 110 mph...LOL

Beautiful looking 57... Excellent job... The old original AMT kit from several years ago was quite a challenge for me. It took 5 kits and 5 tries to come up with a decent stock build...LOL -
Absolutely "GORGEOUS" build... Your talent is amazing!!!

I also goofed the paint up on the hood cutting the hole, so now it's gonna have to be flat black...LOL

Here's one that has been quite challenging, nerve racking, and fun as well. I purchased this Road Runner kit from a garage sale, someone had started. Many parts were missing and paint job was started with a brush. Got it cleaned up pretty well and a decent paint job applied. A total scratch, trial & error job so far by combining 3 different kits. It has undergone many, many changes from the start. No plans at all... Here she is so far...LOL

I built this model replica of my real 82 Mustang many, many years ago. I was diagnosed with cancer in 2005 and spent many years fighting that nasty BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH. Cancer returned this year and kinda back to square one again. I ended up having to sell my real Stang that I spent many years and bucks to get it to break the 10 second E.T. Quickest 1/4 mile run was 10:88. I broke into the 10s and was real happy with that run. Sure loved and miss that car to the "MAX" Father time has taken a toll of my little replica. Cracks appeared on the handcrafted cowl hood, paint faded, glue let loose on a few pieces, and some minor warping of the plastic. I have redone the hood and used Mothers Aluminum polish and tooth paste to buff it back to a semi~shine. A little furniture polish helped as well. This kit has long since been discontinued and no longer available...

I found this kit of a cool Fox Mustang and decided to buy and build it. I soon discovered it could only be built as a police car or pure stock. I spent several weeks locating and collecting racing parts to make it a drag Stang. As I was getting close to the finished product, they released a really cool drag version of the same kit... It was still a fun build... I handcrafted the cowl hood for this one...

I have recently noticed many modelers were building replicas of old beater cars and trucks. I decided to give it a try. My first attempt of building a beater Stang... Pulled it from the barn it was found in and brought it to the American Muscle Garage...

I have worked on, collected, and made pieces for this 1/24th scale garage for about 12 years now. It has gone through many changes over the years, but managed to survive...LOL I have always tried to pay as much attention to detail as I could... Enjoy the tour...

WOW... Awesome idea here and a fantastic job!!! -
I am very happy to have found this site and was accepted as a member. I have been collecting and building model cars for over 50 years now. Building 1/24th scale plastic kits as well as collecting and customizing 1/64th diecast. This hobby has become more of a passion than a hobby for me. I have just completed a life~long dream of having a huge room just for my toys...LOL I built this 24' X 16' room onto the side of my garage to house, protect, display, and organize them all. I sincerely hope you all enjoy my future posts!!! Here is some of my "FUN" work in 1/64th and 1/24th scales... www.diecastfun.4t.com
