when you go to the web and type import history this is what it says: [edit] History Car modifying has been very popular among youth in the United States, especially in Southern California, since the days of hot rods in the 1950s and 1960s. There is significant evidence indicating that import drag racing first started in Southern California in the mid-1960s, with Volkswagen Beetles, Sit-up-and-beg Ford Populars and Austin A40 Devons including documentation of quarter-mile passes published in Hot Rod Magazine as early as August 1965. The island of Puerto Rico also has a long history of pioneering import drag racing in the mid 1970s and 1980s, and it is still a huge sport on the island. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, front wheel drive vehicles, at first Datsuns and later mostly Hondas, gained popularity in Southern California. Young Asian American street racers played a particularly important role in the development of the early street racing scene. Many enthusiasts in southern California also began to modify their compact Japanese cars, following similar trends that originated in Japan. Arising from the street culture, import racing venues eventually arose and huge drag racing events at Palmdale, California often packed in over 10,000 spectators per day. Racers like Stephen Papadakis, Ed Bergenholtz, and Myles Bautista dominated the first import drag racing circuit IDRA (Battle of the Imports) in the mid 1990s. Show car clubs became a huge factor within the import scene: Southern California had Team Macross 7, Team Kosoku, Northern California had Z.Team Yossi, while the east coast had the Jade Crew (still active to this day). This Japanese racing scene can be seen in the anime series Initial D, which focuses mainly on mountain pass racing and Wangan Midnight which deals with high-speed expressway racing.

WANTED TO COMENT ON THE WHEATHERING ON THE ENGINE, NICE TOUCH. WILL TRY THAT IN ONE OF MY PROJECTS, I WAS THINKING ON DOING AN OPOSSITE. A OLD CAR WITH A TRICKED OUT ENGINE LIKE THE MOVIE TRANSFORMER, WHEN THEY OPENED THE HOOD OF THE BEATED UP CAMARO, AND IT HAD A NEW 350 WITH WEBERS AND CHROME ALL OVER.

THE CHASSIE IS READY TO GO TO THE PAINT BOOTH, FOR A COUPLE OF COATS OF RED!!!! LOOKING AT THE ENGINE, THE VALVE COVERS ARE BACKWARDS. THE INSTRUCTIONS SHOW THE AIR BREATHERS IN THE VALVE COVERS ARE POSITION TOURS THE BACK, BUT WHEN I WAS LOOKING AT THIS REFERENCE I SEE THE PROBLEM. THE FORD VALVE COVERS, THE FLAT PART FACES UP. THE AIR BREATHERS WILL NOW BE IN FRONT. DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS ACURATE FROM THE 1:1 COUNTERPART?

my advice, 1. realize that the problem is not what you r doing, since this hobbie is clean and fun. but what you are not doing. If you are spending every single second building, thats for sure hitting a nerve with her. parents care about thier kids development and when parents don't care where you are or what you are doing in your room thats worst than the naggin. So, you are in a very crusial age, soon you will leave home, "hopefully" FIND BALANCE, take care of your future, school, work. take time to go out and be with friends. and keep doing your hobby. I have 40 and have a 2 year old daughter and a wife that nags once in a while but since I don't give her reasons, I take care of things I have to remind her to respect my time.... bro, take your mom out, something she likes, movie, mall or fair, doit for her that way she will do for you the same. I took my wife in vacation in Orlando and planned it around the sametime of a model show. guess what weahd a great time and got to see how big is this world.....we are going next year and she likes the way I involve her in my stuff. hope I helped. remember, balance....It will help in all aspects of life. -

I am more incline to build drag cars and road racing cars but since I came to live in the states, specially in florida people live, drink, sleep NASCAR. and when I went to North Carolina for vacation, forget about it, it is a religion. anyway, I started to watch it in ESPN and by that time this guy was the man to beat and I became a fan. I had a slot car track with this car......later I started to root for Mark Martin in hopes to see him detrone Dale Earnhart. I have slowly drifted away from watchin and rooting, I don't know half of the drivers and since number 3 took his last turn it felt like the last samurai had died. Well I am trying to get back in it, I don't have a favorite driver yet, Me and a couple of panas (puertorrican for buddies) decided to do a NASCAR BUILD OFF and I have CHOSEN TO DO my first NASCAR MODEL of my first favorite driver and car. I had this model for more than 15 years in the closet and now I have the corage to buil it. Hope I can do it rightl. and will use this forum to educate and push my self to finish it.
