Well, painting the body for the second time was the charm. The pic shows how nice it came out, with out even being polished out. Wheels and tires are always subject to change before the finial build is complete. I'm really liking the wide whites.. Later

Well spent the day painting and got nothing to show for it.. It was dumped in the purple pond after the secomd coat of clear was applied. The clear got a hammered finished look, to much to polish out. So I finished the motor and got a good start on the interior. The headers will get there finial bend once in the frame. Body color will be the same as the injector scoop. Krylon Metallic Canyon Thanks for looking and comments are always welcome. Later

Not sure where I got the body its been in my stash for at least 5yrs. Sorry Got alot more work done today and started the painting process.. Here's the last mock-up before paint and I think the stance is dead on.. And just a quick look at it with some painted parts. Did some more work after this last pic and the body is ready for painting in the morning. While thats drying I will get the completed chassie and engine together. More tomorrow.. Later

So I have the weekend off till after the New Year and decided to build an altered dragster. Started with a chopped resin 34 ford and a motor from the Tony Nancy Jr. kit. This is what it looked like at 6pm tonite. This is what it looks like as of midnite when i stoped for the nite. This is the first mock up and i will have some parts painted by tomorrow nite. Later

That truck needs a set of wide whites on a set of Radir wheels and a 60's style scoop from a digger dragster on top of 4-97 strom's.. Here's 2 pics of rods with hemi's. Since your building this a model, do what you want. I really like the look of a Hemi in a rod and have built a couple of them and have plans for more. Here's some I have built. Enjoy, Mike

Wow! Randy that looks great. That will look good on the table at the March meeting for the memorials. (Gary B. - Customs) Hey Andy don't forget the coupons for the craft stores in the sunday paper, 40% off regular priced items. If you can't find something you need, you can always get a kit , cheap

While building the MG gasser I forgot about the special Sporty/ Tuner car contest for Dec.'s meeting. So I grabbed the only Tuner kit I had and went to town.. Built in 3 evening sessions at the workbench, just a simple curbside build for the contest.. Enjoy - Mike

Hey Jonathon, this looked really good on the table today. You did a great job at doing a traditional rod.. Now if only that Peterson guy would finish A model sometime soon.. Later - Mike

Hey Jonathan, Looking good, and yes that motor is bright. I'd finish building it then do the black wash over the entire engine. Cut the 40-50% off coupons out of the paper for AC Moore & Michaels and get the pastel packs there. Most of the time they are not on sale.. I picked up some last week. AC Moore is a little cheaper. (are local craft stores) Now we need some one to do a HOW-TO on using pastels??? Later Mike

Jonathan, Looking good so far.. If you want to get it in the weeds some or alot more try this.. 1st- Where the front spring sits in the x-brace of the frame, cut a slot open in the x-brace so the spring goes threw it. Then glue the spring in place. When dry cut the spring off thats above the x-brace. Then just put a thin piece of plasitc sheet over it to close it up.. 2nd- You did a good job on your Z in front of the engine, you can do another one behind or at the firewall.. I wouldn't do it as high as the front, maybe just cut and stack the frame like Jairus did in his how-to.. 3rd- The fast and simple way.... Just cut the spring off and glue the straight axle to the frame Hope this helps, I use 1 and 2 with any traditional rod i build. And deffenitly do a "Z" in the rear. Don't worry about tranny clerance from the channeling (bodydrop) just cut it open like this... Hit me up if ya need help? Later Mike

I agree with "J" on the double rear wheels. Keep going on this it looks like its going to turn out great.. Here's some pics of an old tow truck turned Traditional(Rat) that shows up time to time on the East Coast.. getting ready for track time gotta love track time at a show!!!

Thanks for the great welcome guys and comments. The insperation for this build came when I started reading some books from Don Montgomery. Thanks goes to Norm Veber for getting me hooked on all of Don's books. I'm planning on building another car to repersent the upgrades that would have happened 10 yrs later to the car. Gathering parts for it now 32 rails to fit a 29, 3 duece flathead, quickchange and all the other speed goodies. Should be a fun build.. Thank You Again - Mike

Hello, New to the board and trying my hand at this message board thing so if something doesn't work i'll try again.. Just completed a Jalopy 1938 era dry lakes car of So.Cal. AMT 29 Ford with the Revell 29 PU engine. This is how they ran them in th 1930's, unbolt anything you could to make them go Fast. Enjoy... Mike Dube - CPMCC
