  1. Johnny, What a great looking project. That paint scheme on the Pete looks superb! .
  2. That blue and white Pete combined with a set of bottom dump doubles would make a great project
  3. Chris, I don't know what all the differences are but Tim modified the cab on his Alaskan hauler Kenworth to an older look. It looks really good with the light weathering. If you look through his web site you will find it. I know Matt Burnett makes an old Kenworth Conventional with a tilt hood from the late 50s 60s with an old style cab. I bought a kit from him some time ago, but don't know when I'll get around to building it. The cab looks much smaller than the revel and AMT Kenworth cabs. Good Luck with the rest of the project.
  4. Chris, This is a very impressive project. You and your freind have some excellent skills. Thanks for sharing them. Good Luck with the rest of the project and keep the photo's coming.
  5. Tim, Looks good so far. Like the colour and the stripes.
  6. Chris, Very Impressive. I like the look of this, will you be back dating the cab to a 50s look. Great Work!
  7. Bruce, This is superb! Like the weathering it really brings the truck to life. I built an original Payhauler about 2 years ago its a good kit to build. Its big and there are a lot of parts. I fitted air and hydraulic lines, there's a lot of them, but they weren't accurate. When I was younger, many moons ago this was one of those kits I always wanted to build. My model shop never had it in and it would have been to expensive at the time anyway. I now have another payhauler kit, which patiantly awaits its turn with all the other projects. Great Work!! Keep us posted on progress.
  8. This looks good so far. Is this a kit, resin, or scratch built?
  9. Check out the comments about this kit on this forum. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forum/viewtopi...978&start=0 Hope this is of use.
  10. I found some 378 Pete's going for less than an Italeri 378. Quick lets rush out and buy one before they get snapped up!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...0123448313&
  11. I like this! The paint and decals looks great.
  12. Scott, Your standards of work are superb. i liked the chemical tanker and the GMC with the dump trailer, the weathering was very convincing.
  13. Anthony, Hope Springs Eternal!
  14. Jerry, Which kit is this? Is it the AMT Watkins trailer or some other? Great Work!
  15. Thanks for the comments guys. The Big Autocar in the photo looks a beast, its carrying alot of equipment. These vacuum slurry type tankers are a complete mobile plant on their own, very impressive.
  16. Little window 359 Pete's are one of my all time favourites. I am busy collecting materials for my version of the Red Heavy Hauler (Sams Towing Service )in Tim's photo' above. Providing everything goes according to plan this will be my next project. The base kit will be the AMT Pete California Hauler 359 T500 500, interestingly this kit is molded in grey with green tinted glass. Must be an early one! Good Luck with your build and keep us posted with progress.
  17. Jerry, This is looking good. Like the drum!
  18. Rob, This is coming along well. The yellow paint, what did you use for the undercoat was it the grey or did you use something else? I always find yellow the most difficult colour to paint.
  19. These are the only ones I could find. http://www.kitformservices.com/auslowe.html Parts BD10 and BD11
  20. Great ideas but as Anthony says be carefull! Before you build a spray booth you might want to check with your insurance and Fire Department.
  21. These trucks look good. Certainly gets over the problem of people parking in your parking space.
  22. Its been a while since I completed the Pete 351 with the Milk Tanker and thought it was time to start on a new project. Well to be honest I started messing about with a resin Detroit 6-71N a week or so after the Pete was finished. I had originally intended to build a Kenworth Heavy Hauler with a Cummins KTA, but as with so many things I got side tracked. Some time ago I bought an Autocar Twin Steer conversion from STS and decided that this would be a suitable frame for the old Detroit. The Detroit was detailed using the series "Detailing Model Trucks" by Ken Smith. The Autocar conversion kit has the basic components, no interior components what so ever. The majority of this truck will need to be scratch built, with aftermarket parts used extensively and only one or two parts from the International Paystar. I intend to use the paystar cab interior for the cab interior and have not decided yet whether to use the dump box yet or scratch build my own. I have never seen a real Autocar twin steer truck before so a lot of artistic licence is being used. The only photo I have is the one supplied with the conversion kit. As to the age of the truck I can only guess at late 1960s maybe 1970s? The engine maybe a little small (238HP) but perhaps fits in with the time period. Hope you enjoy the photo's http://public.fotki.com/oldalbion/autocar-8-x-4-heavy/
  23. James, Thats an interesting observation. Maybe we should be looking to the aftermarket people for solutions to the needs of model truck builders and not the Revells of this world.
  24. Tim, Thanks for putting me right on the 377. I like your idea for manufacturing alternative parts to go with a kit so you can make different models.
