  1. Kurt, I'll be pleased to see it finished for the end of the year. There just seems too many distractions at the moment. But who knows maybe I'll get a few good days and make some progress. Thanks for the comments. Best Wishes
  2. Crashalot, The V6 Detroit is from Auslowe, bought it through KFS. It is a great little engine to build and fits well under short hoods like the Autocar. Some scratchbuilding is required nothing to complicated though. I used Ken Smith's "Detailing Model trucks Part V" to assist with the detailing. One thing though the radiator I used is from the Paystar kit. The hole in the cowl for the fan is quite small compared to the fan you get with the Detroit (It really is a big fan in the kit). So I will use this fan when I build my Mack V8 500HP motor. I scratch built my own fan for the Detroit. If I get chance today I will remove the body and cab and take some photo's of the engine.
  3. I really like these photo's with the light and the backdrop they just look great. You definately need a road diorama. This truck looks like the sort of old wrecker you might see parked up along side an old gas station on a quiet highway somewhere. Excellent work!!
  4. Great Work! I prefer the old round headlights to the square ones. Look much better.
  5. I agree, We are extremely lucky that Tim is here to keep us on the straight and narrow path. I,m wondering if Tim will one day write a history of Peterbilt using his models as the illustrations. Wow! can you imagine that. That would be the truck modeler's bible.
  6. Wow!! This is differant. Love the colour scheme, looks superb.
  7. The Transtar is definately my favourite its so different from the others being a cab over and an international. Looks really well. Great work!!
  8. Very Impressive. That wrecking gear looks superb!!
  9. This looks great. Natural lighting really does make a differance to photo's. I'm with Johnny, a nice little diorama road and that thing will look real. Great work!
  10. Good Looking trucks. I to bought a Diamond Reo kit some time ago and look forward to building it. The truck looks well. Is Diamond Reo still in business or have they like so many companies disappeared for ever?? Its a make you don't hear much of these days.
  11. This looks great so far. Look forward to seeing it finished.
  12. This looks really good. I like the old Kenworth especially when it has the 3408 Cat motor in it. Great truck!!
  13. Its a pity that we cann't buy frame rail of the correct sections from plastruct or evergreen. We could just buy what ever lengths we wanted and then cut them to size. Still leaves the problems of all those bolt heads and other details. Just a thought.
  14. Tim, I've been looking at the photo's of your No 1 (Both of Them). These two trucks are very realistic. The thing that really does it for me is the size of the wheels in relation to the front fenders, the front fenders themselves and the fact that the wheels sit under the fenders. In other words they whole front end of the truck sits right and it looks right. Ive been checking the size of wheels in the kits there is a big difference. The selection of the right type of wheel and size will have a big impact on the truck model. I notice that the AMT front axles have a tendency to cause the wheels to protrude out from the front fenders. This is one of them irritating things that by carefull selection of parts you have overcome. These two trucks really are outstanding!!
  15. Kurt, This is one of those builds that I keep looking out for the next update. Superb!!! not much more I can say. Really am looking forward to seeing the beast finished. Good Luck with the rest of the build.
  16. Great Looking Truck, like the colour scheme. I too have had problems posting photo's. Hmm!!! it must be something I'm doing??? Never mind like the truck!!
  17. Hello Folks, Its been quite a long time since I posted any information on my Progress on the Big Autocar Dumper. Two main reasons. Time and I,m tired of trying to post photo's. What ever I try does not work. So with that in mind I will not waste any more of yours or my time and simply put a link to my Photo Album. http://public.fotki.com/oldalbion/autocar-...rogress022.html You will see that I have made progress but it has been slow. The chassis is complete and the engine installed the dump body and cab are nearing completion. I'm quite pleased with the progress of this but it has been a long slog!! I like the look of the little V6 Detroit it sits well in the frame. At one time I did consider building it as an Oil Field winch truck but decided to stick with the dumper. Hope you like the photo's Best Wishes everyone!
  18. Hmm!!! I to have the same problem. Why is their no insert photo button/icon? Don't understand!!
  19. Kurt, Very Impressive, great details and nice colour scheme. Look forward to seeing the finished beast!! Good Luck with the rest of it.
  20. Superb!! The best description I can think of. I would be hard pressed to tell the difference between the real thing and the 1/25" scale replica. I agree with you on the AMT kit a bit of imagination and some resin parts and the build opportunities are collosal. The photo's of the replica are they the same truck or are some of No 2???
  21. Looks good, Weathering helps to bring a lot of the details out that wouldn't be easily seen. Nice Project!
  22. Tim, What an excellent little project. A model of the first truck of the Production Line is a great idea. Love the attention to detail, the dash is superb (I wish I could detail as good as that). I to don't like the interior tub in the AMT cabs and prefer to make my own floors. But apart from that I think the AMT kits are great. Are both models of the same truck (No 1) or were they No 1 and 2? It would be great if you could get a copy of the original build sheet and owners manual to display with them. I look forward to seeing these two finished. Good Luck!!
  23. This looks like a great truck so far. Good Luck with the rest.
  24. James, This is looking very good. I like the steer axle and the engine. Ken Smith's detailing series are great. I use them a lot now to add just that little more interest to my trucks. Look forward to seeing the update photo's. Great Work!
