    I have used all kinds of primers, including automotive lacquer, with good results. Some will, maybe, need to be sprayed with light coats. I used Dupont lacquer on my models, when I worked in the body shopa, worked fine in most cases, but did have to sand and redo a couple, so, best to test first.

    I have been considering converting a 56 Plymouth, there is not much difference. I have wanted to build models of the cars that I have owned, but, not many available.
