AAR Eagle

Hey guys; I have also gotten involved with this model, but when I received the main body casting I was extremely disappointed in the quality of the paint [massive orange peel] and poor casting finish[ rear quarter panel teamwork is dismal, also roof and hood] and am looking for someone to rework and paint the silver metallic for me, any help or suggestions appreciated, I 'lost my touch' and am paint challenged at my age.

I removed the rear section of the hood stripe, there is no clear coat on top , a piece of scotch tape pulled most of it off [first I scored an Xacto line at the edge of the white portion]. I tried white vinyl tape but the color wasn't right and too flat of a finish. I may try cutting a white decal strip as you already alluded to and try an air brush fade to to rad, but I don't have high hope for success. Maybe somebody like Indycals could do a better job for us???

The replacement wheels look much better as well as the tires; but which NASCAR diecast maker was the tire source? there were threee different makers, Ertl, Revell and Action--I assume these are not Revell as they had sidewall engravings, so that leaves Ertl and Action Performance.
