  1. wow alot of really nice models, feels like a car show lol. You guys are really good at this hobby, really inspiring. thank you for everyone posting their revisions. I'm excited for this kit to come out, should be soon
  2. I think it was the texture of the primer showing through the layers, because I didn't sand the model at all. I wet sand the model tonight and resprayed with black again. This black finish now looks better than the previous black finish, so that's why I think it was the primer not being sanded that caused my whole mess. Your method of waiting a day and sanding after each step sounds more ideal....I'll try that.
  3. Primer and base coat were both lacquer. Yeah the base coat turned out good and I thought a coat of clear would really bring out some shine but I was a little disappointed with the texture. That reflection is suppose to be a ceiling fan in the picture. lol
  4. Newbie here heads up. Also I'm using Tamiya lacquer rattle cans. So, first used Tamiya grey primer, waited about an hour, then sprayed Tamiya black (TS-14). About two weeks later I sprayed it with Tamiya clear (TS-13). Although I didn't sand this model, the finish came out really weird after spraying the clear? The pic is a closeup of the top after spraying clear. Any ideas? I'm still learning technique and will learn to wet sand too one day...just wondering if this weird finish is because I didn't sand ?
  5. nice i'm in for both! do we know estimated release dates?
  6. I agree, box art just has a cool appeal but I prefer those small photos on the sides of the box that show different views of a finished model from that kit.
  7. whats your secret to getting the word "hemicuda" so perfectly on the hood scoop, I didn't see any decals in my kit. haha
  8. Saw another site taking preorders for same kit but didn't say when it was being released. looking forward to this one regardless! thanks
  9. Hello all, my name is Brad and i'm from central Florida. 38 years old here with about a month of recent model experience under my belt as of late. As a young kid I remember building the Revell kits back in the early 90s. I was even part of a mail order club I recall where they sent me models to make every month. Anyway so I'm still pretty new to this, and at this time I'm using rattle cans and brush for smaller parts/details. I'll look into airbrushing probably later on this year, it looks fun I started with Testors Enamel, moved on to Testors Model Masters Enamel, and now I've got a few cans of Tamiya lacquer to try. Most people seem to use Tamiya and I'm sure there's a reason for that. Today I received my Tamiya compound set and polish applicators. Never tried this before but I have a model I'm waiting to cure. It's a black Shelby GT, and I can't wait to see my reflection on her! lol So that's where I'm at now, thanks for reading! I'll be around and thank you everyone for creating what looks like a very active community!
  10. Hello first post here, and I wanted to just say that engine is a beauty. And the custom hood, wow. I can't wait to see more
