  1. Chevy truck used to haul cotton bales from a gin to a compress. Seems like in the early 60's, just about every GM truck was painted that pale green color. Here is a couple more pics of Chevy trucks at cotton gins in the west Texas area.
  2. l've seen that one and it is nice, but it's a stepside. l may just have to settle for a 1/64th scale. l have 3 of the gray ones like in the pic below.
  3. Anybody know whether any mfg. has made a 1/24th or 1/25th scale kit of a International pickup? l have several 1/64th scale IH pickups but even with all the google searches l've done l haven't seen or found one of the bigger scales. A friend of mine did a "from the ground up" restoration on a 1/1 pickup and l was hoping to find a kit to model after his. Here are the before after pics. White before, red after.
  4. l have been on another forum with this very same format for over 10 years. (Well, without the ads) lt has always had the "like" buttons. l use them quite a bit and really can't see how it would hurt the forum. They are at the lower right hand corner of each post. There are four different icons you can choose from. "Thanks", "HaHa", "Confused", "sad" and "Like". Here is what they look like:
  5. Welcome Mike. l just joined here a few weeks ago and found a wealth of information here, not to mention a lot of friendly folks. And hopefully you'll have a speedy recovery.
  6. l like that color combo. My Dad bought a brand new '63 Chevy stepside with that light blue body and white top. 235 straight six with 3 speed column shift. Hope you will post progress pics as you go along.
  7. l have actually seen one of these "Pete" pickups on the highway. Also have seen several pics of the "Peterboat". Might be a fun project if you had a couple of spare Pete 359 cabs laying around on your workbench.
  8. Red Power forum. No Dale, it's not a communist website...lol lt's a forum about IH and Farmall tractors and IH trucks. Everybody here is more than welcome to check it out and join, even if you don't have a red tractor or a "binder" truck. www.redpowermagazine.com
  9. Here is a interesting version of a B-17....with 5 engines. lf l remember right, it was a test plane for different Pratt & Whitney engines.
  10. l know that Round 2 has done quite a few re-pops and re-issues of a lot of AMT kits. Does anybody know if these tractors might be re-released in the future? l read somewhere that there was a licensing problem but didn't find anything specific.
  11. Old IH vacuum truck near Elk City, Oklahoma. Groendyke Transport IH, Beaver, Oklahoma. IH hot oil truck near Seminole, Texas IH livestock truck, not sure of location but think it's at the Oklahoma City stockyards. IH cabover cotton module hauler truck, Eola, Texas. Another IH cotton module hauler truck, Roaring Springs, Texas.
  12. Here is a IH "tater wagon" in Hereford, Texas. Pic was taken in late '40's. Another IH truck, checking air in the tires at a truck stop in DeLeon, Texas. A fleet of IH trucks at a mattress factory in San Angelo, Texas. A IH truck with a load of cotton bales in Robstown, Texas.
  13. Thanks for the welcome!! l found this forum when l googled "model trucks" and also "how to remove paint from styrene model kits". l started reading some of the posts and decided to join. One reason l like this forum is that it has the same format as another forum l belong to, so l'm kind of used to it and basically know how to navigate my way around. BTW, there's a Rusty Shackleford on that forum too!! lol
  14. Hello everyone. l'm 68 yrs old and a retired truck driver. l hauled crude oil from 1990 to 2016. Was a OTR driver before that. l started building truck models in the '70's when AMT first started releasing them. Then l got into R/C airplanes for a while, but l was a better builder than l was a pilot so that hobby got expensive real quick. l also collect 1/16th and 1/64th farm toys. A few months ago, my wife gave me a AMT lnternational Transtar 4300 and a AMT Dozer-Lowboy combo kit for my birthday. My 16 yr old granddaughter has been helping me and found out she likes farm toys and models too. But we made a major mistake and l should've known better but l just messed up. We sprayed gray primer on the cab and hood but the humidity was too high and the paint bubbled and was extremely sticky to the touch 12 hours later. So l got online to see how l could remedy the paint situation and found this forum. Not only did l find out how to remove the paint but also got to reading the other posts and really enjoyed it so l signed up. l have some questions l'd like to ask about some other models but l'll save those for later.
