Hello mates, here is my Article from our Print Magazine. If anybody interested in a Copy, you can purchased it directly https://www.ipms.at/web/panorama/kaufen or read only online https://at.readly.com/products/magazine/modell-panorama And we, the IPMS Austria, earn nothing from it, quite the opposite . We pay extra for every issue  This model is Part of a Diorama, still a WIP you can see here >>> And here is my Review of the reissue from Revell. Revell is bringing back the former Matchbox kit after almost 30 years. The traditional folding box contains a total of 79 parts, distributed across white, gray, silver, and clear sprues. While Matchbox's sprues with rims, radiators, and other parts were chrome-plated, here they are silver-gray. However, this is by no means a criticism, as apart from the radiator and the windshield frame, nothing on the original is chrome-plated; spoked rims certainly not (a bad habit that is still practiced!). In addition, there are relatively hard tires and a small decal sheet. Due to the age of the molds—which date from 1978—there are a few more burrs, mold lines, simplifications, and errors on the otherwise flawless components than one would expect from a new kit. The first thing that stands out when you take a closer look at Caracciola's car is that the frame has too many holes. However, these are not broken through, which makes correction easier. Another very noticeable error concerns the toolbox and the three bottle-shaped objects on the passenger side. The box has a completely wrong shape, which means that the decal for the start number is also incorrect, and instead of the bottles, there should be a gasoline canister with a triangular cross-section and two hydraulic jacks. Some details on the chassis and the spoke rims are simplified. Unfortunately, the tires have quite a lot of burrs or fish skin, but with appropriate reworking they are perfectly usable, even if they have the wrong tread pattern. The dashboard with raised scales is very nicely done. The engine is quite well designed. At first glance, it looks a little thin, but it is very close to the original ; with good painting, a lot can be achieved here. That leaves the transparent parts: the headlights are perfectly OK, but the windshield is much too thick. The decal sheet is very small, but has been expanded compared to the original edition. In addition to the start numbers, there are also black stripes for the molded tension belts, fittings, and Mercedes-Benz logos for the steering wheel and the quick-release fasteners on the wheels. The color assembly instructions leave no questions unanswered and are a real improvement over the original. Personally, I find it a bit of a shame that the brilliant Matchbox box art by Roy Huxley has been replaced by a modern (CGI ? ) Pic.. Regards Harry

As the engravings on the mouldings are very ‘’flat‘’, making direct cutting almost impossible, I glued individual strips. I used self-adhesive aluminium tape from the plumbing supplies. The advantage of this is that you can easily imitate creased or dented areas. And no, they can't rust, they are also made of aluminium on the original.

I added the rails for the sliding roof to the roof. Revell simply created an opening there. The dashboard, literally a board, has already been painted. I'm using Vallejo Model, Model Air, and Greenstuff World Chrome. And I experimented a bit with paint to imitate faded paint. It looks pretty good in my opinion, but it's not quite the final result

After this very very hot Summer, i managed finally to get the Cars from the Diobase and remove the broken Tires. On the MB the Rims get off, no big Deal. I use the now empty base to took some new Pics of the Alfa 8C. On this i have got Silicone Tires, they are very soft Next Step would be 3D printed Tires, like the one on the Bugatti.A very nice Guy from PMC Dortmund, Sascha Mueller, come to my Rescue !

Hi, i receive some better Prints in February, haven't them mounted. I fear that somthing broke again....but after a Monthlong gap, i go on and rescue the Bugatti.A bit weathering and the Sparewheel get back on the Side. Now i try to remove the Alfa 6C and the SSKL from the Groundplate without Damage  The Tires get also hard and broken, hope i get that. Then go on with printed Tires i hope. Only the Tires on the pitted Alfa 8C are still fine, ok they are Silicone... And i build as a Frustration programm the Revellogram 300 SLR Mille Miglia 1955...but that is also a very difficult Build... So the Host and Server where all my Modelling Pics are Stored is gone, i will post a Link to a new Album.

1/24 1955 Mille Miglia 300SLR, 300 SL and 180 D
smartdriver replied to smartdriver's topic in WIP: Dioramas
Asa always i buil some Things paralell, in this case 2 Tamiya Gullwings. The One for Fitch and another one for the 1955 Marathon de la Route. Here now the Mille Miglia car. I got a Etchset with very fine details and Parts to modify the Kitrims to the used rudge Fast Change ones. A small Windschield on the Hood will scratched. The frame and body where a OOB Affair nothing Special. And meanwhile the Search for a 180 Ponton ended with a Diecast from the Comics Series "Tin Tin" A nice Body and Interior, no details on the Chassis at all a black plastic Part. but as this cars all went on a Diorama its OK. Hope i get them all ready for next Year Oldtimerexhibition, it is the 70th Anniversary of this Race..... -
As i wrote in the "1931 Mille Miglia" Topic, this was planned as aFrustration programme...but who wonders i went in a complete other Direction. I planned to build all Winning Cars of the 1955 Mille Miglia, so the famous Overallwinner300 SLR with Sterling Moss/Dennis Jenkinson, the Winner in GT Classand 5th overall , 300 SL "Gullwing" John Fitch/Kurt Gsell and the very lttle known Winner in the Dieselclass the 180 D "Ponton" Helmut Retter/Wolfgang Larcher . This car was an Austrian Entry, Helmut Retter was the Importcompany for Mercedes in Tirol. So a must have...here are the Originals The 300 SLR is a old Kit from Monogram/Revell. For its Age it is really nice, even the Designers couldn't decide which version they wanted to implement, so the kit is a conglomerate of prototype, advertising and museum car. If you want to build the Raceversion correct, the Chrome over the Airoutlets must go, also the Chrometrim around the Headlights. And one Thing is compeltly ignored by Revellogram, this cars have a complete enclosed Chassis. Here helps only Scratchbuild . Also are the Headrest out of Shape and the Tank cap on the Drivers One have the Bigger Shape of the Targa Florio Car. Well the Decals are Nice, but are also Wrong Type. The Overall Look is good, also the Wirewheels, but remove the Chrome ! Nobody would chromed them, the Chrome is to hard and unflexible to stay. They where Painted. The 3 Point MB Star is molded on the Body, must also remove. On the Real car it was painted on.And i wasn't me, when i build it straight like most others, i want it like i came back to Brescia , that means more Scratchbuild and cutting, and the next neverending Story or Desaster  is on the Way. So it looks after the Race, Sterling has really beaten the Car to its limits. On our Exhibition in march, i started this Project as a Show building. First i cut the Front and Rear Bodywork from the Tubularframe, remove the Direction Lamps on the Frontfenders and fill the not neede Holes on the Sides, where the Chrometrims schould go. The Tubolarframe and the Engine are then a Straight forward Build. relativly good Fit of Parts. The Underbody paneling will follow. I build this as copy from my CMC Diecast. And after the remove and new Build of the small Airintake before the Windshield, the Cutting and damage to the Body began..... As i wrote before the Kit Wheels are nice, but Fernando Pintos are even nicer ? with real Wire.... Here is a Kitwheel with and with out Crome and a Comparsion between Revellogram and FP I ordered a Decalsheet with the Racecorrect Font and a Set of Sterling Moss Heads from Immense Miniatures
