Great job! Another source for '61 Ford wheelcovers in 1/24 scale is the original issue Monogram '55 Chevy - they were for the custom version and fit the tires just fine.
Chris, thanks for your comment and the tip.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. A high school buddy and I bought a 71 Galaxie 500 4-door in baby blue with a blue interior. It was a good running n reliable car for $350.
Thanks Bill, I'm glad it brought back some memories!

Very nice custom work, Gary. And the paint is superb!

Another one of your great looking rebuilds. I never realized there were so many 4 door kits out there. The paint and color look great as does the interior.
Thank you David. I made up a list of all the 4 door model kits and non warping promos or promo reissues that were made between 1958 and 1970. I did not include resin models. There really are a lot of them and I have many of them.

Hi Rich!
Great work, bravo!
I always felt that this 61 olds rear end, if it were to be mashed with the 61 Buick Invicta front fenders and grille, would make for the ultimate early 60's GM "space age" school of design. Each of those kits is hard to come by, so I can only dream of finding both and proceed with this mash-up.
Someday, who knows?

Thanks Claude. If you ever do build it I'd like to see the results. -Rich

Here's one I finished a few weeks ago. It was a built kit with glue damage, especially from the fender skirts, and holes from mirrors, etc. I used Modelhaus bumpers but cleaned up and kept the original headlight surrounds so it would have clear lenses like it came with. I used the original tail lights and Modelhaus promo rims/hubcaps as they are more accurate than the hubcaps and trim rings that came with the original kit. The trim around the spare on the trunk is wire as the separate chrome kit trim is way to thick. And, of course, I polished the glass as always.
I cut the sides off the interior, which I do often, to make the detailing easier. After painting the seats I used decals over the inserts to show a slight pattern. I left the blue tape on this one after gluing the interior back together.
The tires are NOS originals from my stock of parts. I know there are better looking tires I could use including Modelhaus copies, but I like to use original tires when I can. I do use other tires on later models that came with tires that eat the plastic.
I built all these kits as a kid when they first came out and I just like using original parts when possible. I guess I'm nostalgic. I like working with the original plastic , there's just something different about it. I almost never build reissues.
Feel free to comment and thanks for taking the time to read this and look at my model. I plan to post some rare and different ones this week.

Dag-nabit you've come up with another one, you're foiling around the wheelhouse molding is surgical, and I think I've seen this color before and it looks marvelous.
This is a different shade of blue that I haven't posted before. I had some matte blue interior paint left over from my 1:1 63 Galaxie 500 (that I've since sold) and used it on this one, then clearcoated it.
Ha, ha, It's not mirrors, I have parts for between 1 and 200 of the Avantis. They are from a project I was involved in back when I worked making white metal handbuilt models in the 80's. The ones you see are some of the unfinished samples I painted back then. I plan to build them up at some point.

Oh, I just had to look at this one. It came out great, Chrysler should have made it!

Looks great to me and I'm viewing on a 42 inch screen.

An absolute beauty. Thanks for the pics! Have you modeled this vehicle?
Hi Rusty, thanks for asking
No I have not. If the 58 promos didn't warp I probably would have modified one. Mine, being the cheapest model, has the Dodge front end rather than the Chrysler one. So I would have to graft a Dodge front end onto the promo. I've done plenty of that kind of work but would not spend the time on an acetate promo. I do have a couple of Modelhaus 57 Desoto wagons though and plan to build one at some point. -Rich

I finished this one a few days ago. It was another built up. I stripped it, no body repairs needed on this one. The chrome on the bumpers wasn't very good which is common on these. I have a set in resin but decided to try brushing on the Molotow chrome ink. I think it came out looking okay so did not use the resin bumpers. The interior is quite simple as they were much more subdued than in earlier years when they used sharply contrasting colors..
If you are wondering how I'm getting these done so quickly it's because in the winter of 2020-21 I prepped and painted about 25 bodies along with doing the chassis, wheels and tires, and spraying the base coat of color on the interiors. Then I loosely assembled them and put them in my display cases. Lately I've been taking them out one by one and finishing them. Of course, I've been building other models all along. I modify, repair, restore a lot of diecasts and white metal models too (all in many different scales).
I hope you like this one, I don't do too many newer cars (to me this is newer) but I like 4 doors. I appreciate all comments.

Cool stuff. Now talk to us about the gray car with fins hiding in the garage! 57ish...
As I've said, I like unusual cars and have examples of five marques that are no longer made. This is my 58 Desoto Firesweep Sportsman. I prefer unrestored original cars but I really liked this one. It had a complete frame off restoration over 30 years ago. I've had it about 20 years.

I have a started Lindberg Color Me Gone 64 Dodge. It looks like most, if not all of the roll cage parts are there but I don't have the directions. Is it the right part and can you send a picture? -Rich

61 was such a great year and your 98 is top drawer. Oldsmobubbles had the coolest steering wheels on the planet. That Palmer Olds is kinda rare, I recently missed out on one on ebay, you've got to do that soon, at least a mock, what a tease, through us a bone!
Thanks for you comments on this and my other models. I'll try to post mockup photos of the Palmer Starfire in the next few days. I've had time lately and have been posting one model each day. The box art for the Starfire is great. The model not so much but it's not one of their worst, at least you can tell what it is when you see it! -Rich
