  1. No, it's not because I'm such a show off. Well, it's a nice side effect, but let's presume I'm not.

It's because I want those glue model makers realise that I put my money where my mouth is for the past decade or four.
Do your maths and you'll realise that I spent the down payment on a house on my collection, of which you haven't seen a fraction yet.
I'm convinced that a lot of you folks did the same.
So why don't you join me, make this section explode and set a signal?

  2. Now I can laugh about it, too. But it was no laughing matter when I searched for a set for my '56 Imperial back in the day.
There was no Wheel Vintiques add to cart button back then. Heck, there wasn't even an internet. There were flights to the USA that cost the equivalent of taxing a 5.8 litre car for a year and some confused faces at the Pan Am counter when I tried to check them in at O'Hare. I bet they were convinced I'm some Yerpeen village idiot. Well, I resemble that description, now that I think about it.

  3. They are among the very few cars my father, a railway enthusiast, whatever that is, also really likes.
I had one when I was a lad and the world was a saner place. I succumbed to rising monetary value like a bloody speculator, though.
My father shook his wise head. Why is one so dumb when one is young?

  4. Hey, thanks!

All the pieces to build such an early example are included in the Ebbro kit, but not mentioned on the instruction sheet.

  5. Not having these is impossible if you grew up where I grew up. Let me explain.
I grew up in Munich and throughout the Seventies the Bayerischer Rundfunk reran the series repeatedly in the early afternoons. Contrary to the usual habit of dubbing everything in German, the series was broadcasted in original language with subtitles. Our English teacher urged us to watch it when we come home from school. I'd say there is nobody of my generation in the State of Bavaria who doesn't know the Munsters, the cars, George Barris, and a few words in English.
