  1. Yeah I realized when unpacking all the kits Ive collected that 95% of them are either out of production or costly to track down. Some of the 1/43 resin kits are beyond my current capabilities so dont even want to start on them yet. Luckily theres a hobby lobby by my new place and they seem to have 40-50% off sales on models pretty frequently so I'll probably build a few cheap amt, revell, monogram kits first.
  2. Thank you sir.
  3. Somewhat interestingly there has only ever been 2 brits, 1 scot (McRae) and 1 english(Burns) to win drivers championships and they were both for Subaru, and both are unfortunately deceased.
  4. Well WRC didnt start in the UK, the first WRC event was Monte Carlo in Monaco January '73. but it is a bummer theres no stages in the UK this year. We havent had one in the U.S. in almost 30 years, last one was Olympus in 1988 here in Washington state close to where I lived at the time so I at least got to see the last one here. There has been talk over the years of bringing a stage over here but hasnt materialized. I suppose the logistics dont make sense financially anyway but I hope they do eventually.
  5. Thanks Steve, Ive been lurking around some threads and watching too many videos, I realized Im getting bogged down spending too much time watching others build instead of getting to it. Got sidetracked building a spray booth but am spreading a kit out on the bench today. I have narrowed it down to starting with the cheapest readily available kit I have which is an amt '70 ZR1. Im not really into corvettes (although I do really like the styling of the late 60's/ very early 70's vettes)and the kit is cheap so not gonna worry about it being perfect and just enjoy the process.
  6. Very nice, Im jealous, we dont have very much rally culture where Im at. We used to when I was growing up but obviously not nearly as popular over here in the u.s. I also really like the 90's and early 2000's imprezas Prodrive campaigned in WRC, its on my mile long list of kits to acquire.
  7. Indeed they do, you can even get a modern take on them by companies like Singer. Porsche also returned to rally in the FIA R-GT cup in 2014 but my personal favorite is still the sc rs that Prodrive campaigned with Rothmans racing like the kit you built, and of course the Rothmans livery is legendary on Porsches.
  8. Heres a pic of the actual car raced by Al-Hajri and Spillman.
  9. Model looks great! Just so you know the FIA ban on cigarette manufacturers was well after the 80's, many kits come either without the decals or blank where the logos go, I had to buy seperate decal sheets for the HB logos that go with a sport Quattro trans kit I bought which was the car from the '84 monte carlo. Not sure if manufacturers are omitting them because of trademark or what but that car is the 1984 qatar winner and is 100% definitely supposed to have rothmans decals. You'll notice several other versions of that kit omit them all together or have the background logo with font omitted, I seem to remember the early versions of that kit being done that way. I personally think nunu should have just left that space blank instead of putting "racing" stylized as the rothmans logo, I've never seen that before and the car certainly never raced in that livery. I know a few companies make correction add on decals for that 24011 kit, like bsmodels.be Car still looks great though!
  10. Thanks everyone! Still setting up a space to get started but hoping to fumble through my first build in 20 some odd years by the weekend.
  11. Greetings from Washington state. Like a lot of you I built quite a few model car kits as a kid and young teen then life got in the way. I built a few in my late 20's after finding a nice one at a garage sale resparked my interest but life got in the way again. So I've just been collecting kits and random modeling tools here and there the last 25 years as I come across interesting stuff I can't pass on figuring I'de get to it eventually. After moving some stuff around in storage when moving recently I realized I have 20 plus kits and a bunch of tools so I've finally decided to dive back into it! I'm not much of a forum or social media in general type of guy but poking around the web this seemed to be a good forum with respectful helpful people, and nobody I know is into the hobby so figured I'de give it a shot.
