The look I’m going for with this build is a Car that a body shop from the 60’s would’ve taken to shows to show their skills, the transaxle will be based off one that came in porches from the 50’s and 60’s
-
Here’s the basic shaping for the 3D models of the frame and transaxle, I’ll be adding more detail to the transaxle later.
-
I will be using a program called Fusion 360 to be 3D modeling a custom frame and transaxle, the engine will be coming from the revell 50 ford truck kit

Hey all! I have this HORRENDOUS 32 ford body, the bottom of the body has been almost like sanded down a ton, so I’ve made plans to transform it into something new!

Model Kit rescue: MPC 32 ford sedan delivery custom flat nose van

I was gonna make it rear engine as well lmao ?? and yeah it wont be easy but it will sure as hell be fun, I was thinking I might be able to stretch the body between the original door line and where the rear window goes to give it less of a shortened vw bus look because right now thats kind of what it looks like lol. The main differences between my deuce and that one is thats a truck and mine a SD, also im going to try and give mine as little of a nose as possible which is going to poise some wheelbase problems which hopefully stretching the body could fix, if you have any ideas on how to solve the wheelbase conundrum id love to hear it! -

You can see the body is in rough shape but I believe if I try hard enough I can repair it back to form. Below are some basic prototype pictures for what I want it to look like, I’d love to hear suggestions -
tysm man, youve inspired me to start my own 32, a sedan delivery hot rod powered by a fuel injected desoto firedome!
-
What does channeling mean?
-
Thank you both of you! I just realized how long it’s been since I’ve updated this…. The bodywork itself is mostly done now and I’ve made it able to mount to the rc crawler frame. I’ll post pictures soon
-
sorry for never updating again, the bed is actually in now! I'm going to smooth everything out and use filler to get rid of the wood pattern
-
Thank you both of you, its amazing to see all of this support from the veterans of this community, it means a lot
-
I dont have pictures of it yet unfortunately but Ive also made it so the roof and rear window wall thingy actually match up flush with a hobby knife and bondo.
-
Heres the chopped interior ive got so far, I also added a little lego guy driver because it looks funny. I now also have access to a 3d printer from my school so I might just be 3d printing rollcages and rollbars because that should end up looking much better (I hope)
-
also, as you can see I drilled holes out to eventually put headlights in from some old crappy rc car I had lying around
-
So far the hardest part of this build was getting that engine mounted straight since its way to big for the original motor mounts, but i got it close enough, I also had to cut out parts of the hood which I personally think unlocks a whole new world of badassness
-
Here is the flathead engine I took from either a 49 or 50 ford model kit I did with my grandpa ages ago that im mounting in the car
-
Shown here is the rear window i got set up with the rollbar, the tape in the middle has since been removed which helps it look more professional.

Hey guys im finally back! before i want to start ill just say sorry for the radio silence and thank you all so much for the support, this project has already gotten way more support than i thought it ever would! Ive made a ton of progress since the last updates, I got my hands on a dremel, hobby knife, that instantly drying glue spray stuff (that I may or may not have burned myself with like 20,000 times lol), and even some body filler stuff to smooth out custom panels!
-
I ended up using a Dremel to cut out the rest and smooth everything out, I’ll post in about 2-2.5 hours
-
Shoot that would’ve been a great idea
-
im making the b pillar the sides for the back of the cab. when i get home ill post pictures of that and how it looks in general
-
as you can see im attempting to turn the fastback portion to a truck bed, the picture here is just the rough cut to get as much material as possible that i don't need out to make sanding and smoothing easier. im probably going to be using the bed floor from this other old ford model i have.
