  1. While I'm not sure what a "Ype" is,LOL, my favorite type of models are GM products. More specifically, the 57 Chevrolet. My GM's outnumber all the others by about 2:1, including my planes and sci-fi. Mageck
  2. I'm a Heat Treat Specialist/Operator. I work at an aluminum foundry. We make alot of the aluminum suspension parts in most of the new cars that come off the line. In my position I make sure the parts are heat treated so that they are much much stronger than when we started with them. By the time we are done with them they are stronger than steel. Mageck
  3. Looks good so far. Have you started on the box yet? We have a 1:1 pumper similar to this one at our firehouse. If you want, I can see if I can get some time and go up there and take some reference pics for ya. Let me know if you want me to. Mageck
  4. Where do I start? I'm constantly using my skills and equipment to fix and repair other things around the house for family and friends.Necklaces are something that show up on my workbench more than anything.Usually they are either tangled and knotted or a link has been ripped. I have also painted my wife and daughters fingernails and toenails for them( I have steadier hands than either of them, or so they say). There is also the occasional ceramic or glass piece that needs fixed with my glues and paints. There are numerous other things that I end up fixing as well(too many to list or think about). 5. I use black india ink for my wash. I use the dropper in the lid to drop the ink in all the holes or lines in the grille. After I have the grille full I use either a q-tip or a tissue to wipe the black off the raised portion of the grille.Occasionally, I have to go back over an area and hit it with the ink again, but not very often. The bottle I have is probably about 15 years old(leftover from my scrimshawing days). I don't think a bottle of the black ink is all that expensive. Hope this helps, Mageck
  6. I like either the keystones or the cragars. But then again, I can't stand the look of low profile tires on a classic musclecar. Mageckman
  7. Luke, I have enjoyed your work on SA and over here.I wouldn't let what anyone said about your work stop you from posting it. From what I have seen, your work is outstanding. Keep it comin!! Besides, no matter where you go there will always be some ahole who feels as if they have to run someone else's work down. Mageck
  8. Frank, that looks great. on a side note, I believe in the late 80's, early 90's, Revell made a 29 ford touring in their HOTROD series. I may be wrong on what year it actually was. The one hobby shop near me has about 20 of those kits still sitting there from way back when. Mageck
  9. Very, Very nice mitchum. err, Luke'57. the model and your photochopping skills are very good. Mageck
  10. What brings me to this forum? My computer and the Internet! LOL Seriously though, this place seems to be a real nice place. The mag reminds me of the old Car Modeler mag (with COLOR pictures!) before the publishing company did away with it and just went with SA. I used to frequent the SA site (Yes, I know that is a dirty word here) daily, but grew tired of the bickering, backstabbing, name-calling, slandering, etc, etc, that it has reduced itself to.If I wanted to deal with that I would just go into work!! LOL Anyway, this seems to be a real laid-back type atmosphere in here, which is usually what I need before going in to or after coming home from work. Mageck
  11. I believe that both the car and the model are real. The base, background, and foreground are photoshopped in very well. I could be wrong tho, Mageck
