Preventing Tamiya Spray Can Runs/Bubbles
Mopar2 replied to TheCamaroKid's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
When I use rattle cans...I wash the body and parts with Dawn dish detergent.(squeaky clean).Dry it really well...Then spray a light coat and let dry about 5 minutes. Then in good light where you can see down side of car.I spray until you can see it just get wet with the second coat.I hold can about 8 to 10 inches away from car.Its worked for me.I spray everything with rattle cans. And you can see my paint jobs on cars posted.I do the same with Clear Coat... -
Here is my 68 Dart Factory Super Stock.I only changed a few things.I put 2 1050 Holley carburetors on the cross ram intake.I carpeted interior and headliner. And put Centerline rims all the way around. She is painted Deja-vue Blue Metallic rattle can.And of course "Wetlook"clear coat. Thanks for looking...

Thanks everyone for the information....This was the third Resin body I have done...The first 70 Dart I bought used.(the one I posted)That one was prepped. The Ford Fairmont Resin body. Was in good shape but I did have to light sand it.Because of small imperfections..The 70 Dart I am doing now.The Resin body was perfect...All I had to do was trim of excess. So I washed it in Dawn.Till it was squeaky clean and primed it.Then I painted it Metallic purple..It was my mistake.I should have known better. Thanks everyone. Its a lesson learned...

Maybe someone can answer this for me.I am building a 70 Dodge Dart Resin body.I used Mr Hobby-Mr Surface 1000.And let it dry 2 days.I had things around the house to do...Them I used rattle can Tamiya TS-? Metallic Purple.I let that dry atleast 24 hrs. Then I went to Chrome foil the molding. The paint peeled off the Resin body.Does anyone know why this happened???I peeled the rest of the paint off under warm tap water...This has never happened to me before. So I just used Testers Metallic Purple(rattle). And it covered fine with out primer...

Here is my 67 Coronet Pro Mod...With a Blower on a Funny Car Hemi.I took the top half(Blower, heads etc.)off a diecast Funny Car engine. And added it to the plastic block and transmission from the model kit.You have to do this or you can't close the hood. She has Fuunny Car Slicks and model kit front tires.(Goodyear Eagle decals added)And I used the Foose Coronet body from that kit.She is painted Deja vu Blue Metallic rattle can.And 2 coats of "Wetlook"clear coat...Thanks for looking...
