    C6 Z06

Here's my C6 Z06 I did shortly after GM started advertising the real thing. It's always displayed in a AMT display case. (Which I can't find anymore, did AMT really discontinue these?) Really loved this kit, and I may just have to have another. I'll have to work on my camera skills here and get shots of my others.
  2. Alright, so I'm a big fan of the new Transformers movie released last summer. Now I want to build me a Barricade replica, and if you haven't seen the movie, he's a very sinister looking Saleen S281. Much bigger picture here So what would be my best way to get there? I was thinking of Revell's 2006 Mustang, and maybe I could grab some light bars from an Impala kit. Not sure at all about what to do with the front and rear clips, since they are Saleen specific. Or where to get rims close to his. What else would I need to change? The S281 is the same sheetmetal I believe as the regular Mustang, is it not? So what kind of ideas would you suggest to get the revell kit closer?
  3. Yeah, mine is painted and the chassis and body are together already. The rear bumper isn't that grand a fit either, but at least it works. All I have left is the front. That front bumper fit is just poor. I tried to glue the bumper on from the flat piece of the chassis that sticks out, but that didn't have enough contact. I tried to glue it from the corners of the bumpers, but they don't sit well on the body. I finally got it to stay(for now), but it's very tenious. Now I can attach mirrors, roof rack, and running boards. Since you haven't built yours yet, maybe you can hit this problem off better then I did. I knew even before painting from mocking it up, that it was going to be a poor fit, but with everything in its final place, it was worse then I thought. Hope yours turns out good when you build it. Matt
  4. Kit: AMT 2005 Escalade EXT 2 in 1 Has anyone that built this kit had problems getting the front bumper and grill to stay attached to the truck body? I've tried twice now to get this thing to glue on, but there really isn't much of anything to glue it to that I can see. It's a poor fit in the design as well IMO. Anyone that solved this problem?
  5. Hello, I got to thinking earlier that I'd love a model of my daily driver, my galaxy silver metallic 01 Grand Am GT. I've already got a reasonable model of my 2002 Trans Am so I'd love to have both sitting next to each other. Does anyone out there take custom requests? If so, who could I contact? Thanks. Matt
  6. Thanks guys. I'll explore your suggestions. I'll post pics of it when done as well. Matt
  7. I typically favor Testors/Model Masters for my projects, and never have had a problem with them. I can't say that I've always been thrilled with the results from Tamiya though. I usually do ships, even built the Tamiya 1/350 styrene offerings, but never had luck with their brand paints. I no longer consider them. But the Model Master Lacquers work great for me. Used the Silver to do my Concept Camaro last year, and it turned out to have almost a mirror finish after spraying it.. Excellent stuff, looks just like the GM concept. Still though, I typically favor MM Acrylics just for ease of thinning and cleanup. In fact, here's a pic of my C6 Z06 I completed last year, and got brilliant results with MM. Trusted brand with me.
  8. George, I dislike Tamiya paints, but I'll sure try to find the White Lightning. It may be hard though, the only place I can usually source supplies from is Hobby Lobby, and that's not all that great most the times. I had looked at some whites there. Insignia White was one, and regular old flat white was the only other they had. Wasn't sure about either's look. Matt
  9. Greetings, I'm working on AMT's 2005 Cadillac Escalade EXT right now (gf got it for me for Christmas because she knows I love Chevy Avalanches and this is the closest thing she could find). I absolutely love the White Diamond tricoat. And that's what I have in mind for this kit. My question is what color would faithfully recreate the base coat? I'm planning on doing my basecoat, then topping that with Model Master Gloss Clear Pearl, and finally capping that with some clear coat for more shine. White Diamond isn't a straight white, and I can't really describe what it really is. Maybe a brilliant white with an Ivory tint? Not sure, so if anyone has advice for what my base coat could be, I'd appreciate it. I actually thought about buying White Diamond from Duplicolor and getting the real GM color that way, but it's a pricey option. If you're not familiar with the color, here's a representative photo. The real color is more spectacular in person, as the pearl really comes through. Matt
