  1. I think she's done- added lights and did some light weathering. Here are a few shots, I'll add more to the Under Glass thread for the Pete tractor. Thanks for following, everyone, this was a fun build- definitely a stretch!
  2. Yeah, Bren was the guy who encouraged me to get into 3-D printing, and I've never looked back. I owe him an incredible debt of gratitude for all the advice and help he has provided. And of course, you remember Jurgen's enthusiastic help when I was building that back-dated Peterbilt cabover last year- his talent for design is tremendous, only matched by his generosity in sharing it!
  3. I’m a little late to the party on this one, but wow! I’m blown away! The collaboration of Jurgen and Bren is fantastic. I’m lucky enough to have been the beneficiary of both of their generosity at different times, and as for the truck, it brings back some fond memories of the early 70s for me! The first semi tractor I ever drove was a Ford C 800 and not long after that I was working on an asphalt crew so I know all about tac trucks and that sort of thing! The Ford C series was a vulnerable workhorse in its day… It first came out at 1958 so it was actually pretty advanced for it day but then the design didn’t change for another 20 years or so! I’ve built a couple of these over the years, I still have one that I did as a box truck. I’ll be watching this build with great interest. It already looks amazing!
  4. Everything is pretty well put together now and painted the base color. Here’s another mock- up; wheels and tires aren’t attached yet, pending some detail painting and small additions. I had to do this in the hallway because there’s to other place big enough! Here she is headed to the yard after another haul!
  5. I got my attempt at a stinger made, swivel and all. Like Ron G said, with the stinger the total length of the model is about 5 feet (roughly 1- 1/2 meters)! This is all getting painted yellow… hopefully soon! Here it is mocked up with wheels and tires.
  6. Actually, I'm in the process of re-doing that entire area. All my models are in the shed while my workspace/display area gets renovated. I hope to increase my shelf space, but every time I do that it gets filled up again! 😆
  7. And a crew to raise the utility lines! The trailer and jeep are printed and mostly assembled; here they are mocked up with wheels and tires. As far as I can tell, this design is sort of generic, and a little wonky: The tongues on both the jeep and trailer are too high, so I had to add styrene boxes to the kingpin blocks and turn the into sorta goosenecks. Here they are with the tractor; so far this thing is about four feet long. The design didn't come with a stinger, so I printed a second jeep and I'll modify it with a pivot and supplemental framing scratched from styrene. I'll go ahead and shoot some yellow paint on the the jeep and trailer in the meantime. I have no idea where I;m going to store this thing once it's complete!

  12. Starting on the trailer now. Frame of the main trailer is done and the axles, wheels etc. have been printed. I’m starting to print the jeep now. This sucker is gonna be BIG!!!

  14. Those of you who followed the build thread of this one know I called it the "Frankenstein's Monster" because it came from so many sources. The sources (as far as I remember) are: Frame rails are from a Revell Level 5 Peterbilt tri-axle (probably a wrecker) and crossmembers, etc. are scrounged from the parts box; most of them are from various Revell Kenworths. Cab and sleeper are from the Italari/AMT Peterbilt 377, modified to fit; Hood and grille are aftermarket resin pieces from STS; Bull bar is from an Italeri Freightliner; Headache rack is from the Revell Level 5 Peterbilt, augnmented with chromed styrene channels to add depth and a tower for the light bar, which is from a Kenworth wrecker. The rear wheels are from the Revell Level 5 Peterbilt; front float wheels and tires are aftermarket resin pieces from STS; Interior is from the Revell Marmon "Marmobilt" with CTS PE accessories (which unfortunately can't be seen!); tanks and battery/tool box are also from the Revell Marmon "Marmobilt." Marker lights and horns are from the Revell Kenworth wrecker and the straight pipes are aluminum tubes, chromed with Revell chrome spray. Chicken lights are scratchbuilt, with lenses from the Revell Level 5 Pete wrecker and various AMT amber and red sprues. The engine is a Cat 3406 from the parts box, likely from a Revell Snap Peterbilt. I'm sure I'm leaving something out but I'll think of it later! Paint is Tamiya, with a couple of topcoats of Mr. Superclear. The truck is supposed to represent a mid-90s heavy haul tractor, mildly customized and owned by a company that likes to keep their equipment in pristine condition! I'll (hopefully) be building an appropriate trailer for it soon, but I wanted to get the tractor out there for your comments.
  15. That turned out great, very well done, especially for a Frontier resin!
