  1. Stumbled across this kit for pretty cheap on eBay so I figured I would give it whirl just to change it up some. Felt that it came out pretty well other than the heat shields wouldn’t allow the back to sit down flush so I left them off. IndyCals helped me get a little more accurate look and I added some thrown together seat belts.
  2. Rattle can Rustoleum if memory serves. I’ll try to dig it out and let you know
  3. This started life as the Danica/Revell kit with decals from Mike’s. Never had many issues with Powerslide, but I had an awful time with the black decals that run up the B pillar and over the window. The were very brittle and did not want to lay down and stick. Used yellow colored wires instead of the black that most teams use just to have a little pop of color under the hood. I lowered the stance a little, but probably should have gone a little lower.
  4. Salvinos kit/decals. The hood had an AWFUL warp in it so I had to do my best to straighten it back out. Don’t know if anyone else has had that issue with these kits. The back two plug wires on each side run behind and under the heat shields. I just ran the others over the top to have something to look at. I’ve always loved the story of him winning the 500 in what was, at that time, a show car. Great looking livery to boot.
  5. Yeah, it looks great when finished, but certainly not the most enjoyable to build in my opinion.
  6. I remember this show car coming through my home town when I was a kid. Loved this car because of that. Tried my hand at stencil painting the Goodyear on the tires and, needless to say, fouled it up a bit. I reckon they wouldn’t have been perfect in real life anyway. Dove into the spare decals to find some contingency decals to better replicate what it actually had at the track on most days. Other than that, box stock with kit decals. Surprised at how well these decals had held up through the years.
  7. My first of the Next-Gen builds. Started life as the Chase Elliott kit, but wasn’t happy with the body and/or paint. Therefore, I stripped it down and started again. That’s why the tires have the modern yellow print and not the throwback. Broke the small shark fin during the transition, so waiting on a replacement.
  8. Salvinos kit. Pretty much out if the box except for the seatbelts and a few other interior decals. I realize the belts wouldn’t have been red, nor the headrest gray, I just like the pop of color with the black chassis and roll cage. I found the decals around the nose to be a bit fiddle and brittle! Thanks for looking! Probably not up to the standards of some, but with a one year old at home, you get done what you can! Haha
  9. Great Job! Did you paint the body, or use the molded color? I’ve had some issues with the decals sticking to the non-painted body of these kits.
