  1. I actually found a decal sheet on eBay for a 1966 Chevrolet Impala that has what I’m looking for. A little pricey, but we do what we gotta do. Thanks to all the help I got from y’all. I actually stumbled upon it as I was looking at the kit on YouTube. Like I always say, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile.
  2. I am working on a 66 Chevelle kit, and I have searched and searched, and I guess I’m not as schooled as a lot of y’all are, I am looking for the flag decals on the front fenders of Chevrolet cars, 1/24, 1/25 scale. Maybe I don’t actually know what they’re called, but for the life of me, I can’t find ‘em. I’m also looking for the Super Sport decals for the rear fenders, but I think I may have that covered. I’m to old and shaky to try to paint em myself so that’s why I’m looking for decals. Could someone maybe please help and point me to something?
  3. LOL! My biological father bought a 1964 brand new in red. Beautiful car. Bought something he couldn’t afford but that’s neither here nor there. Back then they gave you a promo model like the one you bought. When he finally left me and my mother for the last time, me being me, I modified it in to a pro street. 😃 It looked awesome! Man, I’d give most anything to have all my builds back. I was really proud of my work back then.
  4. As a few of you know, I’m new here, so please don’t be too critical of me. I’ve recently retired and wanted to find something to kinda do to get me out of the honeydew list my wife has found for me. Then I remembered that back just after the stone age I used to have a great and relaxing time building model cars. Along with time on my hands and a little weed, I could get pretty creative. Now that being said, by typing, I found y’all, and I started reading and really have picked up on some great tips and people. So far, I think I’ve only managed to tick off one person, and you know who you are, and I am sorry. All that to get to this. I’m a modeler on a budget so like some of you I improvise with a lot of things. I’m currently working on a Dale Earnhardt model, and while I’m waiting for the paint to cure, I thought about something that I wanted to share and maybe get some feedback on. I remember back in the day, I used to get cars ready for paint by simply using a S.O.S. pad and water to get them ready for paint, never primered any of them, and they all worked well. Now my paint jobs sometimes turned out great, and sometimes they didn’t. But I think that was on me. I’ve started prep on a 1966 Chevelle Street Rat, and if I’m not too embarrassed by how it and my #3 turn out I’ll post pictures. Now me being technologically challenged, I’ll probably have to get my 7 year old granddaughter to show me how to do it, but after all this, I don’t want to do this for any show or anything, I just want to do this because I enjoy it and it brings me relaxation and joy, and do the best I can with them. And I really hope that’s why y’all do it. LOL! One more thing before I shut up. I’ve read a lot about y’all’s building in garages and basements, boy howdy, you can’t hide money! I’ve got an old shed out back and that’s where all my painting is done. Got a cardboard paint booth with an old bathroom fart fan to try to keep the dust down. Thank all y’all for the tips, education, and advise.
  5. I’m not sure if this belongs here, but here I go. It’s been a lot of years ago, but if I remember right, and if anybody here is from Nashville, he used to have a garage/race shop over off of 46th Avenue between Charlotte Pike and Alabama Avenue. The building is still there but it’s sat vacant for a lot of years now.
  6. Awesome! That’s my kinda build right there.
  7. It’s HOT! Corny joke, I know. Nice job.
  8. That is one cool looking build! I can tell that a lot of time and work went in to that one and it shows.
  9. Please let me apologize for that. I’m just an old die hard fan and I thought about that and came to my hearts conclusion that everyone has their own style and taste. Please except my sincerest apology.
  10. I am new here and I don’t know if you’ll ever see this but that if freakin AWESOME!!!!! That’s the way I like to build ‘‘em right there.
  11. New here. Is it alright to ask where the wheels and tires came from?
  12. My hero too. Miss him. Now. I’m working on a #3 right now and I was gonna post some build pictures of it til I saw yours. And as Rosane Rosanna Dana used to say, “never mind.”
  13. Aw man! I had this kit back in the day. I’m from Nashville Tennessee and I used to go to Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway every Saturday to watch time trials and the races on Saturday night. Coo Coo was one of my favorites along with P. B. Crowell, And Marty Robbins raced there. My cousin that used to take me along with him was a friend of Howard Johnson, not the hotel owner, built a 1966 Chevelle modified late model and Bill Morton was his driver for car 101, then it went to 01. Lots of great childhood memories there and at Howard’s garage. I don’t know if anyone remembers that there used to be a Winston Cup race here called the Nashville 420 where all the big name drivers came to. Petty, Allison, Yarborough, Waltrip, you name ‘‘em from back in the day. Sorry, got kinda sidetracked. As I typed above, I built this kit, then built a hauler trailer, and built a 1969 GMC pickup all detailed out to go with the car. It looked awesome, if I do say so. Wish I had all those old models back. So many fun hours of building.
