New Login Procedure Coming
That Plasticated Guy replied to Dave Ambrose's topic in How To Use This Board
I tried to change email address that I used but unfortunately forgot my password. I'll probably just set up a new profile and use it with the new login procedure. -
2025 ARCA Daytona race
That Plasticated Guy replied to That Plasticated Guy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
No offense taken, Andy. And last year's season at Daytona wasn't that bad and Talladega and Michigan was green except for the midway break. -
Hello, all. As you may have guessed from the title of this thread, I'm an ARCA Menards Series fan. I decided to go with it and watched all of last year's races on YouTube to get geared up for this year's season. That being said, the season opener at Daytona was not exactly the best. It seemed that after a handful of green laps someone would break loose and then a chain reaction. The end result was 25 cars out of a 40 car field were wiped out. The red flag was even waved and the race break was a competition caution. Hopefully this won't continue throughout the rest of the year.

Hello, all. If any of you remember I had posted about having trouble masking my projects. First, I want to thank everyone for their advice and I'm applying the one thing that was repeated: patience. 😌 Anyway, I was using some Goo Gone in an attempt to remove the tape stuff along with a few other methods and noticed that it removed the paint and primer down to the plastic. So I did an experiment to see if it would be an effective paint stripper. The results are yes and no. The stuff will remove paint from a body or an engine or what-have-you within a day. There will be a slick film covering the piece when you first rinse the piece off, but a soak in some soapy water, another rinse and let air dry and you're good to go. Now, it will also strip chrome, but that might take longer. And as for paint on clear parts, forget it. It won't remove it. The best parts about this stuff is that it can be used again and again and using gloves or employing a method where you have to worry about getting it on your skin is optional. So, it's hassle free, fast stripping time, and able to be used multiple times. It's definitely a good alternative to the purple stuff normally used for this type of situation.

Tape Residue Frustration
That Plasticated Guy replied to That Plasticated Guy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Peter, the tape is the same and I mostly use Rustoleum paint. The other brand is Testors. And occasionally Krylon. All enamels. But I think that what you and Brian said might be one reason. I'll alter my spraying technique and wait it out overnight to a few days for the paint to fully gas out. If that doesn't help then I'll try the polishing that Les and Rich suggested. -
Tape Residue Frustration

I've been having problems with taping my projects to paint them. Now, I've been using Scotch blue tape for years and never had a problem. The problem is that a thin layer of adhesive is left over when I peel it off. I've tried WD-40, Goo Gone, and Isopropyl Alcohol. All they did was ruin the paint. I've tried to stick the tape to something else like glass or an old shirt to reduce the adhesion. No luck. I soaked the body in dish soap mixed with warm water. Diddly squat. Am I doing something wrong? Is there another brand of tape that's available at Walmart? Is there an actual solution that works? I don't want to have to order tape online or anything. By the way, I use rattle cans as part of the painting process. -
What Scared the Heck Outta You Today
That Plasticated Guy replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
This has happened to me on more than one occasion. My car dates back to 2005 and it's wearing out but is still going along fine. And a stay over from my days of being a volunteer firefighter is that I keep to the speed limit. And if a vehicle that has more power than mine or if the driver is a bit of a lead foot then they can go around me. It's not a problem. But the problem is when the person behind me goes around me and doesn't take into consideration the oncoming traffic. They usually have no choice but to whip back right in front of me. And that's when my faith in God skyrockets, because I have to get on my brakes and pray that anyone behind me doesn't slam into me or the one passing me doesn't tag my front end. Not to mention that I also consider aiming for the ditch on my right side. -
I'm a type 2 diabetic and I'm having a problem getting one of my medications through the pharmacy of the store I work at that my doctor prescribed me. The medical plan through my store's company keeps rejecting the medication, that my doctor, my actual physician that I've been going to way before this started, has prescribed to me. I talked to the pharmacists and the information they provided me was that the medical plan rejected this medication was, get this, "trial of other alternatives required." Um, no, not happening. I'm not going to experiment with my health for something that will cost more than this medication, and it's already expensive, mess with me from the God-knows-what side effects, or both. So, because of that, and that I have an appointment with my doctor coming up in a few weeks, I'm not only going to have my doctor look into this, but I'm going to have this medication transferred to the Walmart pharmacy which the store it's in is just up the road from my store. I won't let the equivalent of an online HMO so-and-so mess with my health.

Drink a Miller High Life
That Plasticated Guy replied to Old Buckaroo's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I'll definitely be drinking a Coke Zero or two and watching some races on YouTube that showed not only Bobby when he drove, but his son Davey as well. I have vacation time put in between this month and next and it'll be the perfect time for that. Race in peace Bobby and the rest of the Alabama Gang. -
I work in retail. Last month our local police had to be called into the store I work at four times. I did see a couple of the moments when they had to be there. Now, I usually try to find humor in situations like this. And if anyone remembers the live-action series Cops knows the song Bad Boys by Inner Circle and the little saying at the end of the opening credits. So I downloaded videos of each, trimmed them, and converted them into audio. I now have some interesting ringtones as a reminder of these moments. ?

Yesterday, all my problems seemed so far away.

Our AC conked out at one time. So my father called the local heating and air company, Gurley And Sons, to come take a look. It turned out that the compressor in the outside unit was fried. The person that worked for Gurley's told me that they would call with estimates for a new compressor. Weeks go by without so much as a smoke signal. So my father calls another company that he has dealt with before. Pass One Hour Heating And Air. They came out, told me that they had to order a new compressor. One week later the AC was fixed thanks to them. Never calling Gurley's again.
