  1. Absolutely dreadful??? No, that would be the base model "fakey" 14" turbines with the rubber spokes...or the telephone dials. The turbines actually look pretty decent with 60 series or lower tires on 'em. The model looks pretty cool though...for a pretentious Fairmont (now don't anyone get all offended! I daily drive an 89 'vert, and I even refer to my King Cobra as a "Pinto" on occasion. Besides, its not as bad as a pre-70 fastback Falcon or anything... )
  2. Musta been a rookie (not a rookie COP, BTW). Any pot head could have told him to just go to bed...
  3. You do pics to order? I'll swap ya a bunch of bodies and partial kits from my donor box if you want to draw up a car toon-y shot of the Rat Snake (I can send pics and description)
  4. Don't worry, bud. The ONLY reasons I cruise through here are for the odd II reference and the occasional bit of surfing while my computer catches up to other stuff. NOW GO BUILD SOMETHING!!!
  5. I KNOW! I KNOW! Santa's REAL sleigh
  6. Its STILL all your fault, though...
  7. I don't come here much any more, but what the heck... According to Fred's latest mailer, he hopes to have his own dot com site up and running by year's end.
  8. Taking the internet a bit seriously, are we? As Harold points out, the Rant & Rave section is/was a kind of town square, where members can/could discuss things among those who may have different opinions, while still enjoying the common bond of model building. Nobody (at least to my knowledge) has EVER forced a member here to open a thread they didn't want to open, so the ONLY one trying to inflict their belief on you....is YOU. While my own opinions differ greatly from some of those expressed by others in some of the posted threads, I don't judge anyone's modelling skill by their politics or religious beliefs. I guess I should just unsubcribe from this thread, though, before I feel the need to get all offended and make Gregg's life miserable by whining about what somebody else is "forcing" me to read...
  9. Sure it is. Are we all modellers (and ONLY modellers) or are we all people (with real, honest to Dog opinions) who happen to build models? And was the "boss" was getting hassled by people posting "off topic" or was he being hassled by people that had some kind of difficulty NOT opening threads they figured might be off topic? The bar analogy is a bit lame. Nobody here was forcing anyone to read ANY thread they didn't want to, were they? I won't bother arguing the call that was made, but once the topic reply notifications run out, I won't be back much, if ever. You see, if "I" don't like something, I'll avoid it instead of whining to get someone else to avoid it for me. Later,
  10. Well, since the Rant & Rave section was the FIRST place I'd go to read a bit of fun from the modelling crew (and where most of my "subscribed threads" links led, which would then lead me to the rest of the forum...), this will be the second modelling forum I give up on due to people who can't do as Bill and I have been doing all along. Those who just can't resist the urge to read posts they KNOW will upset them should have their own keyboards locked, not whine that they are being "forced" to look at posts they don't like. But that's just the opinion of an amateur modeller with a few other interests, so ignore it at will. Have fun...
  11. Yes, any fastback could be ordered with the rear louvres. As far as kits with them, the Revell Street Cobra/Cobra street racer kit has them, but they are a wee bit too small for most other 1/25 Mustang II's. The Entex Mustang II Mach 1 kit is 1/24, but the rear louvres are a much better fit for the MPC and AMT kits. I'm still working out how to get a multiple-use mold for resin casting rear and side louvres, but we've been having issues with getting the casting even enough to look decent. I'll post up if we end up with something useable...
  12. Well, they haven't screwed up sending me their "newsletter" but I still can't log in or access the forums at all. I sent them a nice email asking them to remove me from their list, since I can't access the site anyway...
  13. Regular beer intake...but I smoke my beer
  14. Well, since I'm on a quest for that higher post count ... I still can't access their forums at all. Regardless of what my cookie settings are, it just keeps kicking me back to the login... Would someone who CAN (and is willing to make that sacrifice) check to see if "fastfloyd" has re-registered there? And if he has, could someone PM him my email and ask him to contact me?
  15. I'm always happy to see another II, whether in small or large scale. And the 5-slots are a great upgrade over those stock "steelies"...speaking of which...whatcha doing with those original rims?
  16. Wouldn't be the Firefighter. I have two of the re-issue and an original. All three have the correct '74 gas cap below the body line. The biggest inaccuracy in the Firefighter kit is the engine. The rest is either "correct" or something that would have been a logical upgrade for a pro-street II. You are correct about the header panel/hood difference, though. I can't really tell for sure, but the last pic leads me to think it does in fact have the 75-78 hood line. For George: Any Mustang II that came from Ford with ANY engine other than the 2.3 I4, the 2.8 V6, the 302 V8 or the 5.0 V8 (NO, the 5.0 did NOT start with the Foxbody Mustangs!!!) would have to be one of two things: a) a prototype that never made production, but snuck through the cracks or assembled for original sale outside the US and Canada. But if you think the 3.3 I6 had balls with a slushbox, try driving one with an SROD 4-speed. Completely different performance (only downside is the HUGE gap between 2nd and 3rd)
  17. No, its NOT a 74. The 74 (and ONLY the 74) had the fuel filler below the side body line, as well as the straight-across hoodline. In 75, they moved the fuel filler up above the body line and moved JUST the rad support forward (which required the center section of the hood to be lengthened. Trust me on this one. I have (in 1/1 scale) a 74 coupe, a 78 coupe, a 77 fastback, a 78 fastback T-top, a 77 Cobra II, and a 78 King Cobra sitting in my driveway... Oh, and in 74 the V8 was available, but only in Mexican Mustang II's, because the cars didn't get engines until they crossed the border, and I guess nobody told Ford of Mexico that they were only supposed to get the I4 or V6.
  18. Ahhh, that makes sense then. The "vinyl" top will fill it in with the trim to cover the seam, eh? You sneaky devil Hopefully my sig. lines help tell you how much my praise for your efforts really means. I am TRULY a Mustang II FANATIC (currently own 6 in 1/1 scale, 4 completed 1/24 & 1/25, and about 25 WIP, and only ONE of my 1/1's comes even close to your 1/25 coupe...)
  19. Okay, picky, picky, but the rear pillar (below the quarter window) should flow into the side of the car more(no dimple where the window surround meets the body... I only mention it because you are obviously good enough at it to make it worth noting. If you'll excuse the term: That's F***ING awesome bodywork, man!
  20. Did you scratch build the coupe roof or convert something else to fit? So far (amateur that I am) I've used sections of 66 Mustang hardtops for mine, because I'm just not confident enough to scratch build those lines. Messing around with some junk I had from some Ebay parts lots last night, I'm doing a custom chopped coupe using the roof and deck from an early 60's T-bird (fairly boxy). It doesn't look like a II coupe, but I AM surprised at how good it looks...
  21. Since you're still in the forming stage, a bit of technical criticism (of the constructive variety only) : The quarter window should be either a bit wider and slightly sloped up and back at the rear for a coupe, or slightly narrower with a bit more curve at the rear bottom corner for a Ghia. VERY nice conversion, though. Looks better than the ones I've done, that's for sure.
  22. Thanks, Jeff! I'm hoping its just that he forgot again (heck, I almost forgot as well), which is why I haven't made a huge stink about it. The DE-improvement over at SA just makes it that much harder to take other avenues of communication. It also makes it tougher to steal ideas from the 41(or so) page Mustang II CBP over there....
  23. Only thing is, I still use Netscape (7.2) because its the last version that supports my email. I'm in my 40's, and I have trouble getting used to "new" stuff. Its just not worth it for me to try importing all of my bookmarks and settings, set up new email settings and parameters, install a new browser, and delete the old one (I'm on a Celeron 566 Etower, so memory is at a premium), JUST so I can sign up for a forum that's more stiff-necked than I like, and hunt down a modeller who may have burned me over a model kit worth less than $15. I've tried emailing FastFloyd again, and if he doesn't respond, then I'll have to start giving people a heads-up about him on the rest of the modelling forums I frequent...
