It's a shame manufacturers don't pay closer attention to this problem , I just made an eBay purchase of a Signature models 1/32 1957 Cadillac series 62 convertible , I saw two that had obvious signs of zinc rot , the one I purchased looked ok in the photos , then when I opened it it was a different story , its not terribly bad now , but how long before it gets real bad is what I'm worried about , unfortunately the maker is long out of business . I was also a victim of the Ertl 1969 Camaro problem , I purchased a 1/18 kit , in a car full of guys that went to this collectors museum/store the Camaro was my only purchase , when I opened the box (it was still sealed in cellophane) and started touching the parts they immediately started to crumble , everyone in the car was laughing at me , every metal part in the kit crumbled into pieces that were no bigger than 1 squareu inch each in the time frame of less than an hour ! As for the 1/32 Cadillac all I can do is hope it doesn't get any worse .
