  1. On my front porch this afternoon,  a new tool from Aoshima. These were awesome when they were new.The best handling production bikes of their day. This looks like it's  going to be a good time. The motor builds as a stack of however many louvers you can see on the box top. There are decal markings for every handlebar control.  The wheels are each made up  of 4  pieces with some of the thinnest spokes I've seen in styrene. This one came from Model RoundUp, just under$50 with shipping.

I've started with putting the tank halves together and trying the license decal

  2. Still a WIP. Typical MPC. I picked this up on sale after ignoring it at full retail mostly because I have the CB750 and assumed it would be the same kit with a fairing. Actually there are a lot of differences although not a completely accurate replica of Mann's machine. The reason i strayed from the original was that the deacls will not conform to the compound curves even with multiple apps of different setting solutions. I gave up and grabbed the spare numbers from the Italeri Norton Manx. Much easier to deal with. Most of the chrome needs to not be chrome. I shot the cases with Testors Flat, the tinwork with Tamiya semi-gloss and left the access covers in chrome. Now I hate to cover it with the bodywork

  3. I still have a couple of finishing touches to do. Good kit, the tooling is still in good shape, engraving is good. The hood could have been about an 1/16th longer. I tried to come up with a way to mold the body halves together for paint before assembly but the suspension at both ends wouldn't let me. The seams aren't bad except for between the cowl and cockpit. There are some sinks there that need attention.  The dash is just a flat panel with a nice decal, I'd like to at least have bezels. I didn't have any Photo etch or tubing the right size.  Love the shape of this car and would recommend the kit. Probably my first Heller kit

The differences between the TE and FF are minimal, TE is completely gray, FF is partly red and has different steeringwheel, seat and a bit stronger engine.

I thought the FF was the race version from Farm and Furious 17

  5. I just received the Talbot Lagot Grand Prix car from 1939. $24 + $15 shipping from Germany. 1st impressions are good, pretty much flash free. It's going to have to be built like an airplane though.  The body halves trap the interior and engine/ front suspension units, so it will have to be put together then masked for body and paint

My boss is there right now; said no money to buy this year but still worth it for the show. I'll agree with that; it was worth the price of admission to have seen (1) Reggie Jackson get booed by the audience when he started to gripe about his cars not hitting reserve, and (2) Jay Leno getting pissed off at the bidders when a charity car he was guest-auctioneering wasn't getting bid up enough.

Checked the Automobilia docket and there aren't any great models; about all they have is a case of new-in-the-box '82 Corvette promos. They did have a duplicate of my childhood pedal car:

I'd really like to see an hour on things that sold that weren't cars
