  1. Hello: Picked up a couple new double kits. Started on the boat already. The upper deck area has a woodgrain molded in much like I often see on pickup truck bed floors. Any suggestions on how to finsh this area? Thanks, Merk
  2. Hi Guys; New project. This 55 Nomad will be a tow vehicle for my growing fleet of boats and dragsters. Paint was sprayed over the weekend and still needs to be polished a little. The ride height is not finished yet. Here are a few pictures from a test fit. Thanks, Merk
  3. Hi guys: Here are a few pictures of the Speed boat project along with the El Camino tow machine. Thanks, Merk
  4. Hi Guys: I added some racing stripes to the El Cameno. The Buggy is the Revell California Buggy Kit. Pictures of the speed boat soon. Thanks for the interest, Merk
  5. Hi guys: I have been building a cool custom speed boat. It is made from wood, plastic, resin and fiberglass. The styling is 50s-60s with big tail fins. Boat is nearly done, still deciding on a power plant. Think I might use the Desoto Hemi out of the 53 ford kit. The six carb mill should be about right for the era. Scratch built a trailer. Also working on a 65 ElCameno tow vehicle. This was not my favorite kit but is building into a good model. Had to do a lot of body work. Painted it this weekend. Paint is looking good so far. It's duplicolor light blue met with a couple coats of clear. No sanding or buffing yet. The front bumper and grill assembly does'nt fit to well and needed some dremal work but I got it installed. Here is a pic of the Cameno test fit. Merk
  6. Warning I tried posting some pictures of my boat models. Boats not ships and Harry himself stunk up my threads. I don't post much because of that. Too bad you guys are missing out on some really cool stuff. Merk
  7. Hi Guys: I did order wheels from Terry at MAS, they arrived a fast 4 days later and here is the report. The dragster wheels are perfect with high detail. Much better then the kit wheels. Each wheel is made up of 5 pieces. Terry gave me directions to wash the parts with laquar thinner and then glue them together with clear epoxy. I'm a bit ham fisted and had trouble getting all the pieces linned up. My solution is this plywood jig. Each part has a small amount of epoxy then alingned on the jig and clamped untill the epoxy sets. Also shown is a picture of the MAS ten spoke gasser wheels. Thanks MAS Merk
  8. Hello: I started this awhile ago. It's a little Red Wagon Kit plus the parts pack camper. mixed together. New work includes, Dual wheels made from a 2nd set of stock wheels from the Red Wagon kit. The cab has been sawed off just behind the rear cab window. The camper was a little to wide and is now narrowed up about 3/8 inch. Wheelbase on the chassis is stock. It's starting to come together. Merk
  9. Hi Guys: I gave it a wet sanding and mocked up a gasser look and .......................................... an open wheel hot rod! If you think this one is Fugly wait untill you see my fishing tackle box motor home project <img src="http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> Thanks for the Ideas. 10. Hi Guys: Found this old Karman Ghia. Only ID is the letters KG molded into the bottom side. It's not a very accurite model. About 1/25 scale. I have a couple of Revell VW convertible kits. The question is build with the VW stuff or chop out the wheelwells jack up the nose, add a straight axle for a gasser style build. Thanks, Merk
  11. Hi Guys: Thanks for the response. I will be ordering a couple sets of the MAS wheels from Terry tommorow, They are really nice looking. The Competition Resen 12 spokes look good too. Merk
  12. Hi Guys: Help Please. I need some dragster front wheels and tires. Motorcycle style from the 60s. Anyone have some extras in their parts box they could spare? How about some good aftermarket supliers? Whats a good kit to purchase that might have some good ones? I bought the 22jr kit to get the 2 pair that come in that kit but ended up building the kit! I would also like to find some 12 spoke 60s gasser front wheels and tires. Thanks, Merk
  13. Hello: Anyone else going to this show? I'm planning on taking a few models and checking it out. http://www.madcitymodelers.org/2009event.htm Thanks, Merk
  14. Picked up a second Lil Red wagon kit for additional parts. this one is molded in white and will work better for the motorhome. I used the extra kits wheels and tires, 3 rear rim centers and and one rim face per side with a scale trash can from a slot car set joing the rim/tires together. The camper was just a bit to wide so ran all the center panels through the table saw and narrowed it up a 1/4 inch. Built up the chassis and the wheel base looks perfect. Next the cuts on the truck sides and camper floor. Thanks, Merk
  15. Hi Guys: Lil Red Wagon with Camper mock up. I tried a few different '60s truck cabs and this is the coolest one. It will take some scratch building to get it all together. Also an update on the "Willy the Kid" Gasser. Willy's frame has been completed, Blown 421 Poncho installed, Body work is next. Thanks, Merk
  16. Update: The Revell 22jr is a double dragster kit included are the T bodied dragster and a full bodied dragster. I now have both dragsters completed minus some wiring and the bodies. I like them this way so have decided to leave the kit bodies off and add small panels to give them a classic vintage dragster look. Thanks, Merk
  17. Hi guys: I've been building tow trucks and trailers for awhile and now need some dragsters to haul. The yellow one is a vintage Revell parts pack chassis with Hemi from the new AMT engine parts pack. The second dragster is the 22 jr Roadster. Both are WIP. Thanks for the Interest, Merk

  22. Hi Guys: I bought four of these Revell Mooneyes Dragster frame kits on e-bay. Paid a bit more than the original .69 cent price LOL I will build one as the Mooneyes and mabe one with twin engines and save the rest for later. Searching for the rest of the needed parts now. Here is the frame arriving at the speed shop. I also have a glue bomb resto going on a Willys gasser. Found these wheel and tires for it. The build has started. I can smell the burning rubber in the air now. Thanks, Merks
