Building Doldrums.
diymirage replied to Helipilot16's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
i usualy see two options to kill builders block 1 getting something simple, maybe even a snaptite kit something i can slap together in a week and say "yeah, i finished one" the second (and preferred) aproach if to give my 12 year old nehpew a call and we will build something together somehow seeing him work helps me wanna do something -
that is cool it is always great to see young'ns take an interest in the hobby it is always great to see members of the fairer sex take an interest in the hobby so this is twice great also, those dodge chargers are incredible cars i bought my wife on last week (an 08) and now im looking for one for myself
-
thanks this is very close to what i would drive if i had a ton of money to blow on a car but untill the wifey starts raking in the big bucks im afraid its gonna stay in scale i bought here a new car last week all i really wanted was a 4 door allwheel drive, you know, something that was good in the snow so we went out to this guy who had a subaru on the lot to check that one out and she didnt like didnt like the colour, didnt like the lines so she asked the dealer, have anything else in allwheel drive ? and the guy point and says, well, i just got that on in and im looking and i dont see what he means so i ask: what, behind the charger ? he says, no, it IS the charger so logn story short, i bought her an all wheel drive 08 charger and i told her, once she starts making money im buying a matching 68 charger for me

thats funny, i always fall for the "not so nice" ladies
-
it is a pig seems to me its best to build it for what it is this is what i did
-
sure as long as its not too close to finished yet
-
dragnum think thats all i can come up with maybe if you post a pic ill do better
-
i know its all good
-
thanks the more models i build the more i seem to gravitate towards the E and B body mopars as for the wheels, i guess they were turbines

quote : That is pretty cool I think the hood is really cool and the wing makes it all work great job! thanks the hood was a trade of from another member here, Phil Harkins i was looking for hoods online and i found a company that makes these in steel for teh 1:1 cudas so i thought id give it a try it started life as a regular AARC hood and i just cut the rise out and added some styren to get it to clear the carbs then did some putting and im pretty pleased with how it came out and im just a sucker for superbird wings when the musclecar build is finish i will start a "winged warrior" build off where you can enter any car that was build by mopar during the winged warrior era as long as you put a superbird wing on it. the only exception will be the 08 and such challys since they are to reflect cars from that era the came in a pontiac firebird kit not 100% sure what kit it was but i can find out if you want me too i used the stock honey combs on the bird so i had these left over funny thing the drag radials on the rear come from a different firebird kit thanks the wifey suggested i build a yellow model since i only have one in that colour yet and ive always liked the way bahama yellow looks so i though id try it once and now, as promised, some shots of the sardine challenger and the chicken of the sea together and you know what happens when two car guys get together they pop the hood then pop thier mouths and pretty soon the only thing left to pop are the wheelies so of the the strip we went
-
looks like it has plenty of build left in it remind me again of the exact year and ill ad you
-
im trying to keep it more allong the lines of a actual build thread then just show and tell so id have to say no to the 74 charger but if the darts arent too far finished ill let those in
-
you are now number 26 and 39 on the list
-
thanks ill see if i can snap a few pics on tuesday of the both of them if i can get the sardine presentable that is, i've been doing some drywall in the room next to where i keep it and that dust is everywhere the car is not 100% done yet so i might go ahead and just put the dizzy in the right spot shouldnt be too much of a hassle since it isnt glued down yet anyway, its just laying there
-
looks nice i like the black decal on the hood and i really like the gauges wish i could come close to that as for entering another one, go right ahead
-
that should be easy enough to fix....i dont think i glued it in which reminds me, i should also slap a radiator hose on

got mine done some of the modifications : log intake with 8 carbs from the desoto firedome hemi custom 6 inch raised AARC hood spider rims rear suspension raised superbird wing the black grille was the wifeys idea i thought it might make it looks a little bit too much like a challenger but now that it is on i must say i like it, it goes well with the bill boards and black hood section the rear pan is not yet in place but anyone who has ever looked at one of these models knows what a pain they are so i am waiting for everything else to cure before i attempt to glue that in i didnt bother doing any interior shots because i just am not that good at detailing those yet this car has some flocking and a two tone interior of black and tan leather it actually flows very well with the car when i started this build i was planning on making two hoods, this one for cruizing and a flat one with a hole cut in it for racing but c'mon, look at it this looks more intimidating then 8 carbs sticking out plus, im not sure where i left the other hood speaking of 8 carbs this is the first model i build with the overspay on the bottom and i think i like it i added a little color to the exhaust and rear end cover with rust you can also see in this shot that one of the exaust pipes needs to be realigned, im pretty sure that is why the engine is sitting cockeyed and finally a comparision shot with a stock 71 hemi 'cuda just to see how the stance and everything is as always comments are welcome
