I'm also glad to see you know a whole lot about me, who I am, my motivation for being here, why I post on a variety of subjects: both serious and funny. I'm surprised I have to go over this again: I was told a while back by the powers that be that if I won in the MOST-POST competition (I guess members like you are not aware of the prize) that I would win a free trip to Hawaii, a thousand kits, all the glue I could sniff, etc . . . My professional advice to you, seeing as to how you have a problem with the stuff I post, the person I am, is a simple one: hit the IGNORE button for Doctor Cranky and I promise you he will never bother you again, or rile you up with his dumb posts, or his mindless (cast of thousands) sheep outfits! Trust me, it's EXACTLY how I've exercised my freedom today with WHALE392.

Steve, check the HOW TO section of the forum. There is plenty of amazing stuff over there. Like, Christian said, there are some basic techniques, including the use of pastel powders, that will make a rattle can base stand out with some weathering and detailing.

I'm sure you will work something out, Anthony. Keep on thinking about the build.

Oh, I really like that old cabinet with the glass shelves, very nice. And very 50s or 60s . . . Love it!

Joe and Erik, thanks for the wonderful comments. Yes, I forgot to mention that our models do have an after life in the shows, but eventually you stop taking older models to show, so what else is there, but life in the display case, if they are lucky. If not, they will sit there collecting dust. I remember when I was getting body work done to one of my cars, the owner of the shop had a collection of diecast and models exposed, and they were literally almost buried under a thick blanket of dust. Very sad. Very sad.

Okay, I'm curious to find out from as many of you as it is possible, exactly what do you intend to do with your models after you finish them. I know, we all keep them in cabinets, display cases, etc . . . but really? Is that it? I keep them around and take the best care of them possible because every so often I like to shower with them (just kidding! LOL!) I just want to make sure you are paying attention. Seriously, keeping your finished models around and playing with them periodically is as exciting to me as when I am first building them. My favorite thing to do, as you already know, is to build dioramas and photo op bases so that I can continue to give my models a further life! Do tell us, thank you.

You mean, gas them up regularly? Or wash them up regularly! Either way, there's got to be a way to have more fun with your models after you are finished building them! Shoot, here comes a new thread!

Chris, this is as comfortable as it gets, in particular if you are in a cold place. FOREVER LAZY! Oh yeah, I wish I had bought stock in that company!

LOL, Christian, I've known what the Lady Scientist claims for a long time, which is why I know I want to be ready for the end, which is coming. I want to go out in the best, most comfortable daily wear outfit I can muster, and this one is it. As a matter of fact, next time (not in any hurry, mind you) I have to go in for surgery, I will go in this and tell them to keep their stinky hospital gown! LOL! You only live once, so you have to live in comfort. That's my view and I am sticking with it. Brush rake is an extra accessory!

Actually, I've always felt a little sadness about the UNDER GLASS posts because I feel that it usually means the end of the ride for that vehicle. The builder finished it, we've seen it, but now it's part of styrene history. I'm always much more excited about the IN PROGRESS stuff. Don't get me wrong, I love to see finished models, but like I said, I get a little "down" knowing that it's finished . . . etc . . . Which should be a nice thread to find out what folks can do to keep their built models alive!

Not only is it cool and DIFFERENT, but it is also refreshing you are free to post such builds here. In other places, this kind of subject is banned because it would be considered too dark and scary for the children all over the world who would have terrible dreams and whose parents would start to write in saying that they are very upset that such ideas are being promoted on a model car forum.
