  1. I really like this kit but I have one bit-o-advice one building it. Test assemble the rear suspension to see if you like the look. It sits too high in the rear for my taste (near stock build) so I lowered it to get it closer to level. The next one I build will be lowered a little in the front also (lowered in the rear a lot to keep it level) to get a more agressive stance. Carmak Riverside, IA
  2. Steve, I would agree. The "hotties" on the box art are a bit much for a kid. Carmak
  3. Chris, The non-coke branded car kits in regular size boxes were $10, the Coke stuff and cars/trucks in bigger boxes were $15 and the L-700 with trailer sets were $20. I think someone has bought all of the kits as a single lot now so the party is over There were a couple 2010 era MPC retro re-issue kits (which I though strange for Lindberg to have). Other than that I did not find anything else unique, just a few kits I felt I needed. I stopped short of going crazy as i am happily married and i would like it to stay that way. I used to find interesting stuff at the ERTL outlet store in Dyersville, IA back the the AMT/MPC era but never a marketing sample. You are fairly close to Revell/Monogram. Do they have any kind of an outlet store? Carmak
  4. Last week I stumbled onto a liquidation sale at the former Lindberg warehouse in Cedar Rapids, IA. In one of the boxes of models I discovered a 61 Impala convertible kit with what I assume is marketing sample artwork. The box art artwork was ripped off of the top and two sides but what remained are really interesting. They are just taped on the box with clear tape. The artwork contains printers alignment marks and hash marks fro where the box would fold. It also has a new kit number "73304". Although the box art proclaims a "Free Hotties Figurine" the kit is completely stock. Enjoy the pictures. Carmak
  5. Wow. I just can't move to Chicago (my wife escaped from the Chicago area and does not want to go back). Otherwise I meet every qualification (except the having done scale model design before). I am a design engineer at a medeical instruments company. I design small, high tolerance molded plastic parts, manage multiple projects and conduct verification and validation testing. 6. My votes for the Chrysler would "Turbine Bronze" or code ZZ1 "Citron Gold" which is more of a light green. I had a 68 300 Turbine Bronze with a black top and a white interior - super sharp Currently have a 66 Newport in Citron Gold with a black top and a tri-tone green interior.

    My 66 Chevelle

Good looking build. Good call on the vinyl top!!
  8. The "Used Cars" ghost box is back on E-bay for $450 with seller pretending it is real. http://www.ebay.com/itm/EXTREMELY-RARE-USED-CARS-MOVIE-PROMO-KIT-SEALED-INSIDE-/161179236987?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item258707fa7b For a good laugh read his description. Carmak
  9. About 5 years ago I was lucky enough to get a tour of Steven Juliano's Mopar collection and he had the Diamante kit box in a showcase (at the time he owned the 1:1 Diamante, it was about 30' from the kit box). I told him that I remembered the kit box from an SAE article in the early 80's as a phantom box. Steven was really happy to hear the explanation as it explained the early 80's camaro in the box. A couple years ago I saw the "Used Cars" phantom kit with a wrecked 67 Galaxie as the box art car on E-bay. It was being sold as a "super rare prototype kit". I sent an explanation of the phantom box to the seller, it was a waste of time Carmak
  10. Grew up in Iowa City, IA and I now live in Riverside, IA. Been building for 30+ years. Have not been that active for the last few years (two teen kids) but next month we are moving to a new house with a room that WILL BE my model room. Carmak
  11. I just got one of these 59 JoHan Caddys from a long time friend. The only things missing are the chrome bullets that fit into the fins. That vista roof looks great on the Fleetwood, much better than the stock roof. It looks like it came off of a JoHan 59 Olds 4drHT. Carmak
  12. Bruce, Did the roof fit width wise? I didn't see a split down the middle in your pics. It really looks good!! I have an extra AMT 51 Chevy and now I am thinking wagon thoughts! Carmak
