Or here in California Marc. No Majel, it's the 2006 Revell kit dash painted flat black, then I brush paint the ignition pieces. I use very small drill bits in a pin vise and drill holes in the ignition pieces and use wire from Detail Master. Detail Master Detail Wire and Detail Master Ignition Wire for 1:24th & 1:25th scale.

Tamiya ts-21 gold for a base, Testors 1601 transparent candy emerald green topcoat. DAP Design decals with a few decals from xjarhead_1999's sheet.

It'a already gone. Debris cautions during commercials late in the race, popping J Montoya for 60.06 mph in the pits but don't show it, cookie cutter cars, big crashes at Daytona and Talladega that na$car isn't about to do anything about. Stick a fork in it.............................. Oh yeah, the Jeremy Mayfield fiasco.
-
No Dave and I won't do any CoT models. I don't like na$car's decision to force a cookie cutter car, what it's done to the sport and what it represents. I'll continue to do pre CoT Cup, Nationwide and Busch Series models from 2000 to the present.

Well, you can almost see the darker red on the sides between the stripes. It's there. I also gave a new detail a shot. BrAkEs20oo9 has a thread with the new for 09 GPS blade antenna, which looks alot like a blade antenna from a supersonic military aircraft. Rust-Oleum automotive gray primer, krylon matte aluminmum for a base for the krylon fusion red pepper, then using a template per the WIP thread applied krylon interior/exterior cherry red on the sides. I also trimmed the 05 Taurus A pillar to the straighter/thinner 09 Fusion A pillar as well as trimmed the one piece glass in this area. Rear quarter windows are made from clear plastic, the black is sharpie from the back side, drilled into the black area with a .020" drill bit to simulate the attach bolts. Winscals decals.

Builders creative choice. You're correct, it was not a metallic or pearl black. I shot duplicoilor brilliant black, then added one light/mist coat of duplicolor nighthawk pearl. It's wrong, but I like it.
-
2001 Slixx sheet that had a few issues, 02 Revell Intrepid kit. Tamiya ts-26 pure white and Tamiya ts-44 brilliant blue.
-
Nascals decals and had to find, and add, front and back contingency decals as well as add all the yellow day-glo decals. No big deal, it's called modeling. Rustoleum auto gray primer, dupli-color brilliant black and a light dust coat of dupli-color nightshadow pearl. You can see the effects of this over the black in the first pic that was taken in direct sunlight, and here in Clearlake Oaks, CA., it's real clear air. Grandt Line nut & stud for the rear spoiler attach, taller rear window blade, fuel filler and overflow from aluminum tubes.

Thanks, a Labor of Love each one.

J Beatty decals. I nicked both white door #33 decals so found some donut decals on a Slixx 99 Goodies sheet and used them to cover the nicks and that's where the dzus button decals on the cowl came from. Once that was done, decided to weather/post race it a little with flat black brushed on including the windshield, tear-off and roof. Doubled the yellow roof 33 and hood Bass Pro Shops decals to make the yellow brighter. SS nose and taller rear spoiler. I decaled this build off the Daytona II race that Kerry didn't qualify for, but had the heard decal under the B pillar as well as the orange dots around each wheel well.

This scheme was raced a number of times in 2004 Busch Series by both Matt Kenseth and Mark Martin. This is the Richmond II scheme driven by Mark Martin. I took a crack at the wrinkled hood and am very pleased with the results, especially since I had no idea initially how to make it look realistic. Winscals decals, doubled up the yellow door 9's and the oval Pennzoil decals above the rear wheels. Grill and lower grill tape from the Powerslide #17 R & L Carriers sheet, pull tabs from the 03-04 chevy/pontiac goodies sheet, and the rest of the regular detail stuff. One thing I didn't do was the dash electronics. I got wrapped around the axle with the hood and absolutely forgot about the that detail. :oops: :shock: :oops: :idunno: I added a little too much post race rubber on the front, just got a little carried away with it. Winscals decals, tam ts-76 mica silver, ts-50 mica blue, krylon interior/exterior sweet cream and testors 1/4 oz. bottle 1170 light tan brushed on the sweet cream for the wood grain effects. Rustoleum acrylic enamel gloss clear over the paint. I used Revell kit grill, front screen, headlight decals instead of the Winscals ones, and also used a Revell 03 #48 kit decal for the red/white roof decal on the hood. Since I used that for a template, I used it on this build too. JWTBM 03-04 chevy skirt decals. I made the dash ignition electronics except for the coils that were in the spare parts box from Modern Motorsports. Any questions will be gladly addressed.

Winscals decals, rustoleum auto gray primer, tamiya ts-76 mica silver over the gray, tamiya ts-10 french blue, wasn't happy with the shade of it and sprayed tamiya ts-23 light blue on top of that. Added the yellow stripe across the rear bumper using a piece of yellow decal from a Blue Angel sheet, addd Grandt Line rivets to the front valance and stretched a strip of electrical tape over the rivets and valance. JWTBM skirt decals, aluminum tube fuel filler and overflow tube, Revell kit grill decal. Dash is a resin piece from tom s, painted and wired. Thanks for a sweet product Tom. :thumbsup: Very happy with the results. Comments graciously listened to. Target;

Kenny Wallace drove for Steve Park at the Richmond Monte Carlo 400 race due to Steve's Darlington injuries. Boyd's Aluma Yellow Pearl over Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Sun Yellow. Great ALP's decals and a fun, rewarding build. Target;

This car didn't last very long in the 2007 Fontana II race before a terrific meeting with the turn 1 wall. OUCH. 06 Revell #8 kit, MPR Mark's OUTSTANDING decals. This was the 1st sheet of this scheme and Mark was conscientious and sent a second sheet plus a sheet of just the black decals. All sheets he will produce will have the improvements, so buy with confidence. Lowered stance, painted valance, roof rails & rear spoiler, spoiler braces, fuel filler & overflow tube, RH exhaust using the kit exhaust end, JWTBM orange valance spoiler cut narrower, hood and trunk pin decals are off a JWTBM Chevy & Pontiac NASCAR Accessory Sheet. Paint is Rustoleum auto gray primer, Testors 1265 flat olive drab, Tamiya TS-68 wooden deck tan. The actual color closely matches the two pic's below, but the pic's were taken in direct sunlight. Here's the car as raced; and the post race result;

Beautiful build of a great looking scheme. Top notch modeling David. The splitter braces look just right. -
Lots of fun on this build. Super Speedway mods to the nose, roof spoiler, new/taller rear spoiler with wickerbill, lowered stance, and the rest of the little mods. Rustoleum auto primer, Duplicolor white primer on the sides, Tamiya TS-26 Pure White and Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Black. Dave Jones art and Thad printed the sheet. To keep from going nuts, I cut the one piece, long, red swoop decal into two pieces and put the forward swoop part on first, then matched the second piece. This decal is quite long, too long to fit on the sheet so Dave added a pair of short pieces that match the back of this decal that you cut to fit. Skirt bolt head decals from MPR Mark. I really like this builf for a few reasons; 1. the stance, 2. the black/white/red combo just looks slick, 3. I like that there's no valance decal, the paint scheme goes down the whole front of the car. :thumbsup: :drool: I think the best dash so far.

Homestead Busch Series race 2005. Duplicolor white sandable primer, MM Classic White lacquer, Rustoleum American Accents Mango for the roof & TV panel and MM enamel Racing Orange rear spoiler and cowl inlet edges. Made the cowl inlet cover from plastic parts, lowered ride height, fuel filler & overboard vent, roof teardrop camera made from the number tangs of a sprue tree, and finally got the base of a roof antenna to look the way I've been wanting it to look. Used .020" plastic rod with a .0125" hole drilled down the middle of the rod, painted silver then the wire thru a cut of piece of the rod and Elmers glued to the roof. Thad's decals, great as always.

Yep Jay, used the Pledge on cartograph decals with no problem, never with ALP's though. Won't again either.

Greg drove this Monte Carlo at the Memphis race. Thads decals, great as always, Rustoleum auto gray primer, dupli-color Autumn Maple Metallic on the TV panel and Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Global Blue. I'm really upset with myself. As you can see, the decals were damaged at it was my fault. I wanted a sheen to the finished body after the decals were installed. I have used Pledge furniture polish sprayed on a cotton sock and wiped on the body over the decals. This has worked well to provide a sheen, not a shiney finish but a nice sheen. Well, this doesn't work over ALP's decals, it's fine over cartograph decals. After wiping the body and wiping the excess off, everytime the body is touched part of a decal touched comes off. Sorry to have screwed up your great decals Thad. I guess I could call it Post Race Finish, but that don't get it. How about this view, like seeing the car behind through the TV panel camera. Got this idea from Billy, thanks.

Thank you Brandon. Building NASCAR Cup, Nationwide and Busch models is what I love doing as well as the little details. The radio wire on the steering wheel is 30 gauge wire from Radio Shack. They sell the red 30 gauge, green 26 gauge and copper 22 gauge wire in a packaged three pack. lI use a large paper clip and straighten it out, cut a piece of red 30 gauge wire about 6 inches long and wrap it around the paper clip wire. Push the red wrapped wire together until the whole piece of wire is wrapped around the paper clip wire. Push it together, slip it off the paper clip wire and grabbing both ends you can pull the tight wrapped red wire apart so it looks like a spring. You will have enough to do 2 or 3 steering wheels. Drill a small hole in one of the spokes of the steering wheel, glue an end of the red wire to it and curve the rest of the length of the wire so it goes under the dash when the steering wheel is Elmers glued to the top of the dash. For the window net, check this out. http://www.randyayersmodeling.com/modeling...et&start=30

Well now. This is a one race, Richmond II, Rock & Roll scheme Brian Vickers ran. Tried some new details on this build. The base of both roof flaps are made from .020" plastic rod with a .016" hole drilled thru the middle of the small piece of rod, then painted silver. Added three vertical support struts to the rear window that rest against the package tray as in this pic. I painted them silver and should have been black though; Used a front valance Slixx dayglo yellow decal from a 2002 #25 UAW sheet to get the front valance to match the 1:1 car. That's a kit helmet painted black with decals from the #17 Kenseth Revell kit decal sheet. I cut the DeWalt parts of the helmet decal off though. Taller rear window blade, aluminum 2 piece tube fuel filler with plastic rod center, aluminum tube fuel overflow, added gray paint to the bottom of the rear fenders and rear bumper to match the 1:1 car. Used flat white WalMart Color Place for primer, Tamiya TS-26 Pure White and Krylon Indoor/OUtdoor Gloss Black paints. Added .040" thick x .100" plastic strip for the left rear skirt, kit exhaust tip cut from exhaust and added to RH skirt, roof camera made from kit sprue, TV panel camera from Modern Motorsport.

hungry4knowhow, I've built a few kyle busch monte carlos, 2004-2007 cup and busch/nationwide. What you do is find a schrub decal sheet you like and buy a 04, 05, 06 or 07 revell monte carlo kit and decal it to make a kyle busch model. No specific kyle busch models were produced. Here's a link to Southern Motorsports Hobbies and the #5 decal page(s). http://stores.intuitwebsites.com/hstrial-R.../StoreFront.bok Type in #5 in the "Search" and then Go thru them and find the #5, or any other number kyle ran early in his busch or cup years, and buy the sheet you want. Use the same link to SMH and then "Search" #20 and on page 6 there are two revell kits, a 2007 and a 2003. Here's the rundown on the revell monte carlo kits; 2002-2002 kits are the same 2003-2005 kits are the same 2006-2007 kits are the same Go to Randy Ayers Forums http://randyayersmodeling.com/modelingforum/ and sign up as a member, if you're not already, then go to the flea market forum there and offer to buy what year monte carlo kit you need.

Well, lots of fun with this build. The chassis on the 2003 #38 M & M's kit sure took alot of work to get it to set right, but it's modeling and fun, fun, fun to get it right. Rustoleum gray auto primer, tamita ts-30 silver leaf over the gray primer then tamiya ts-34 camel yellow. Cut down the kit roof camera, added Grandt Line spoiler bolts and made the spoiler braces, aluminum tube with plastic rod center fuel filler, aluminum tube fuel overflow, Grandt Line rivets in the front chin spoiler and black electricians tape over them, tamiya ts-65 pearl clear on the nose and around the side contingency decals, 3M reflective tape under the DeWalt on the nose and both sides. I used the kit decals for the grill and front screen then added black decal over the lower screen. Target... I'm very happy with the results... Issues and questions gladly answered. Here's the link to the Work in Progress with some on the way's things were done. http://randyayersmodeling.com/modelingforu...pic.php?t=47534
