  1. Hey everybody! I started my second model yesterday and here is what i have so far. Its a Revell 48 Ford Convertible and I plan on working it up to look like a traditional hot rod. Nothing fancy and pretty much bare bone but with lot of detail in regards to traditional styling. Hope you enjoy and I am really looking forward to working on this little project.
  2. Ok, I am thinking about making my next model look weathered and beat up. I know the best way to do this is will chalk or charcoal. What is the best product to spray on the chalk to adhear it to the model?
  3. Thanks! I say go for it and build one!!
  4. Hey yall! Just finished my Revell 32 Ford. Its all Rat'd out and looks good. First build in 15 years and i must say it was a fun one. Can't wait to build my next one! Take a look and let me know what you think!
  5. Did some more work today. Finished the frame and put the wheels on it. Let me me know what you think!
  6. I am looking to purchase some styrene. What would be the best thickness to get for working on models?
  7. I haven't worked out the stance yet. I was thinking about "z"ing the frame and channeling it but i haven't made up my mind. I like how it sits right now but that could change. As for colors, I am panting the frame gloss black, the body flat black and red steel wheels. I know that is such a typical rat rod look but I like it. For my first build back into it, I want to keep it kinda simple.
  8. Got some work done today. Went out and bought a Dremel and sliced off the fenders and sanded it down to the frame. This is the first time I have ever done this because I could never afford a Dremel when I was a kid. It worked really well and I am happy with the results.
  9. Here is how it came out! Turned out great and the tires look nice and worn out.
  10. Went to hobby lobby and picked up a white Galaxy Paint-like Ink Mark and it worked great for the look i was going for, worn out old white walls. The only problem is the marker stopped working for some odd reason after my first coat. Good thing it did the trick in one coat!!
  11. Thanks! Looks like I am off to Walmart to get me some Gel Pens and try it out this afternoon. I will let you know what I think.
  12. I am looking for some advice on painting some wide white walls on my tires. What is the best way to make a templet? What is the best paint to use? Whats the best way to prep the tire?
  13. sorry about the photos being so big. I forgot to shrink them down.
  14. Hey, I am new to the site and I just starting making models again after taking 15 years off. I am working on a the Revell 32 Ford Street Rod but mine is going to be done as one mean, scraped out rat rod. I started on it today. Filled some holes where some lame handles were suposed to go and i shaved off the door locks and a window pillar. Here is some quick pix i took but there are more to come as the rod progressed.
  15. Hey, I just joined this group yesterday after taking a 15 year break from building models. Went out, bought a model and I am in the planning stage right now for my 32 Ford. Good Luck on your builds and hope to see what you come up with.
